Depends on how you define "scratching post." If you mean something used by the cats only, I have four, including a shelter thingy that the cats scratch. I got all of them as salvage, and I guess (know!) it shows. The cats love them all.

If you mean things also used by people, add a La-Z-Boy recliner (tweed fabric), a low-slung sofa, a corner of the box spring to my mattress, and a cardboard box containing a big roll of bubble wrap. The cats also love them all.

I think I was about 7 or 8 when my older brothers went into the attic and showed us the gifts that were hidden.
