I have a suggestion! Wear warm clothes at home and have more blankets on your bed! It's more fun to be snuggled up with a bunch of blankets anyway. I think a lot of people worry about their cats being cold. Wednesday night I was making some chili and was burning up from cooking, so I opened a window. It was probably in the 40's outside, and what do my kitties do? BOTH of them went and sat in the open window! So... I'm convinced that cats like being cold in the winter and hot in the summer... lol.

As for candles, I only keep them on the mantle and the bathroom counter, where the kitties don't go.

I have hardly had the heat on this year. Only on the really really cold days, and we haven't had many of those at all. My apartment faces the sun, and so all day when the sun is going up and down it's still shining on my apartment because it faces the north or south. Lucky for me my apartment stays at right about 70 all the time.
