Hi quick question mum and babies all OK but one kitten taking a long time looking to latch after 15 mins using a small cloth I gently guided it to teat mum rolled to make room and he did feed but again its struggling to get there. Mum is happy for me to wriggle kitten into right position will it get the hang? Or shall I keep close eye and help each time?I don't want to get to involved but don't want it hungry either.
Yes, please try to keep a close eye on that kitten if you can. Like talkingpeanut said, you don't need to worry about helping, Im sure the mother appreciates it! But feel free to help any kittens that have trouble getting to the food, or wander off to far
Please help the kitten latch. You'll need to weigh the kittens to ensure that they are gaining the 6-10 grams a day minimum, especially this baby. If she continues struggling to latch, you'll need to supplement with kitten formula until she is stronger.
Thankyou everyone been checking regularly helping it once its finally in place no issues but other 2 don't give it any chance! Iris has not left her nest other than to feed so she's doing great.
So all kittens feeding well one still needing a little help. However earlier noticed a few brown spots on kittens. Mum gets flea treatment every 26 days so was quite shocked. I've washed and combed each kitten removed a few certainly not infested but how often can I repeat this process? Is every morning too much? All bedding boiled washed house vaccumed etc mum retreated with spray from vet. Thanks
Had visit to vet today constant combing seemed to keep fleas controlled. They now have been treated and mum too by the vet. All doing really well. Putting on weight etc. I think its 2 girls one boy forgot to ask vet to confirm! If I manage to get pics I will post for you guys to check gender for me x
So mum has moved all 3 kittens to my bedroom! Under the chest of drawers she kept pacing until I removed bottom drawer! Her litter and food is downstairs and as soon as she's finished she goes straight back up. How often do they usually move their kittens?!
I did take her stuff up but she's wanting to come downstairs for petting. She leaves them Max 10 mins so I brought it back down again, I think she's enjoying a few minutes to herself! They are safe can't fall or go anywhere while she wanders. She's used to being in the garden all day but I won't let her out now until she's spayed so I'm thinking she just needs to stretch her legs?
So the kittens are 2 weeks old today. All going well. Then about an hour ago the children left the door open and iris went out. The kittens are asleep so I'm hoping she's back in time to feed them. She's supposed to be spayed in 4 weeks. I could cry! Really don't want another litter!
