We say the same thing about the weather in Colorado...Originally Posted by bookworm

My sphynx is actually the most active cat in the house.. she's always running and jumping and getting into things... I swear tho, someday she's going to fall and break a leg.. she's so clumsy, and she doesnt have claws to catch herself!Originally Posted by icklemiss21
I have come across two 4-paw declawed cats in my life and they did limp and were not heavily overweight, my guess is that they are more sedentary because they are not able to jump and that causes the increased stiffness or arthritis
If/when you make a page for him on here you should include how he came to you and how sick his declawing made him (and that it could have even killed him). There are people who pop up asking, and his story could be another good one to add to why it doesn't need to be done.Originally Posted by laceymcde
We ended up taking the cat*now named Bernoulli* to OUR vet last night at midnight. He was crying out in pain... and leaking some kind of nasty goop from his right paw. They found out he is anemic, which is causing him to have healing delays, and he also has an infection. My vet told me that after a week, his paw should be relatively healed. We came home without the him, they wanted to keep him overnight, I went there at 8 this morning to see him, and they said they will be keeping him at least until the close of today, possibly until tomorrow or longer. He has his foot wrapped right now, and they are giving him antibiotics, and pain medication.
I did get all the paperwork, I didn't really understand much, Apparently he was nuetered, declawed, and given all of his shots in 1 night. I asked the vet how they could not of known that he was anemic, and he told me that they could of just skipped it altogether. I find that crazy to believe. How can you do such a serious surgery without checking to make sure that everything is okay?Originally Posted by strange_wings
Did you get his paperwork from his neuter and declaw? Do you know if they did any pre-op blood test? I wonder if maybe that was skipped.
Pre-op blood work for spay, neuters, dentals - and I assume declawing, is often optional. People can skip doing it to save money. Often you get the choice of the cat getting fluids and even pain medication, too.Originally Posted by laceymcde

He is a tiger striped kitty. He is beautiful. I will post some pictures when he is healed...Originally Posted by mrblanche
Maybe I missed it, but if Bernoulli isn't black, what color is he?
And how did you choose the name Bernoulli? That's a name that is near and dear to pilots and hotrodders, you know...
