So my cat has a sore on his gums and I did some research and found this product biotene for cats people seemed to like. Problem is apparently the company GSK that used to produce it stopped producing it for cats and only makes it for humans. Another company Pet King is making it now but changed the name to Oratene. It has aloe vera which apparently the other didn't - they claim they some how "took the toxic part out" but I'm dubious. How do you extract the poison and still get any benefit - I'm thinking it is another scam like throwing cranberries in food even though the benzoic acid in cranberries is toxic to cats and otherwise has no nutritional value for them.
Other ingredients - polyglycitol, glyceryl, polymehtacylate, sorbitol, hydroxyethyl cellulose, dextrose, potassium iodide, natural enzymes - lactoperoxidase - lysozyme, lactoferrin, glucose oxidase
Apparently when they first started making it the aloe vera was the first ingredient and I read where cats vomitted & now it is somewhere in the middle. Seems to me they don't know what they're doing.
I'm wondering if anyone uses this new stuff and what they think of it - or are you still just using the human form of the biotene?
