Thanks for asking. The meds wore off completely, late Wednesday. I was shutting the lights off and all of a sudden, Artie had the zoomies! He ran a mile a minute all over the place, jumping over things, jumping on the top of his cat tree! He was comical! He wanted me to chase him!  I went to bed. I did not want to overdo things.

Artie ate good when he came home from the Vet: 1.5 cans that night. He ate really good Wednesday(3.5cans) and Thursday, 3 small cans. I am hoping that keeps up. He had one can during the night and 1/2 can this morning. I am hoping I can get him to eat some more soon. He is now curled up on my bed.

He was a cuddly cat the past couple of nights. He jumped on my lap while I was watching TV; and allowed me to hold him for up to a half hour at a time, while purring...yes, it was the meds...

He has woken me up the past 2 mornings, just by jumping on my bed and cuddling--no meowing..

He is not grooming as much as he usually does. I am thinking his mouth and perhaps tongue are too sore.

Time will tell if this works out...

Artie is sick of me coming after him with meds...He gets his regular meds plus clavamox twice a day-with food. That is 6 times a day...poor thing. some are empty stomach, one is with food, another anytime.

The antibiotic is only until Monday.

I re-started brushing him yesterday-just a bit. I am using the softer slicker brush and being very gentle. He loves it, up to a certain point--purring, rubbing against it..yes, but I keep his mouth away from the brush.

You would think that after having 2 teeth extracted, he would be drooling...But No! There is no drooling at all from him!

Thanks again..

I'm glad to hear Artie is doing so well. I can picture him running around like that, my cat Peaches does the same thing. I like that you call it the zoomies.

Well, It think I spoke/wrote too soon.

He was a brat yesterday!!!

He was fussy with his food yesterday... it was a struggle to get him to eat during the day. All toll, in 24 hours, he only ate 2 1/4 small cans...and spit out his last dose of clavamox last night! I found it on the floor this morning! UGH...this cat...

But he is still allowing me to cuddle with him on my lap, during the day!! hopefully that lasts for a long time...

I am still trying to be very gentle with him..

No biting with string toys...he loves to gnaw at things..

I am doing a shift at Petsmart today. I wonder how he will react to me when I return.. Of course, I will jump in the shower immediately and throw my clothes in the washer..

latest update:

Friday night, I thought Artie had his last dose of clavamox; nope! I found it on the floor, Saturday morning...

He was eating really good. Then on Saturday he started cutting down. Sunday, he ate absolutely nothing! I had to give him the clavamox on an empty stomach. He Vomited that, and immediately vomited his steroid also. That was it for me with the clavamox. I took him off of it.

Last night he ate about 1 can. Only a tiny bit during the day. I even ground down a can of kitty tuna with mackerel in the food processor. It seems as if that is too hard for him. He tries to chew, but cannot. So he stopped eating and only lapped up a bit.

I called the Vet who did his dental. She agreed about discontinuing the clavamox. She said that if he did not improve with his food, she will have to see him before his follow-up appointment on Monday.

I would try the baby food, but he cannot have chicken. He is supposed to be on one novel protein. That is why I am using the mini-food processor on his food.

When it is too fine, he does not like it--too soupy. When it is in tiny, tiny bits, he just laps up the gravy...

This cat is really causing me a lot of grief, and stress...and I love him...sigh

I got a new baby scale for Artie. It is an expensive one. My other one has been going loopy for a while. He weighs 10 lbs...the same as last Monday..

Clavamox makes one of my kitties toss all over the place.  She can tolerate it for about 5 days, but then it all comes back up.  Can you give him turkey baby food?

Artie is certainly putting you through the mill.  This part of cat parenthood worries us so much and is so frustrating at the same time.  I don't know how many times I've wished we could just have regular conversations with cats where they tell us what's wrong and we tell them they have to take their meds to feel better.  If only Artie could tell you exactly what's going on with his pickiness over texture!   At least it's a good sign that he hasn't lost any weight this week.  Considering he just had his dental, it wouldn't be surprising if he'd lost a bit.

ARTIE, EAT YOUR DINNER!!!!

Yeah--thanks..

I feel as if he either has an upset stomach or is in pain...

He takes a couple of licks and then stops and walks away.

He did that to his tuna w/mackeral this afternoon.

I just made a thick soup out of his rabbit and he did the same thing.

Today, he has been hiding in his tent. He is not cuddling with me tonight. He wants to hide. So that means he is not feeling well..

sigh...

I hate the thought of taking him back to the Vet. I am praying/hoping he eats tonight. I am hoping this is from the clavamox and will get out of his system by tomorrow. I am almost tempted to give him a low dose of cerenia...

I hate the thoughts of taking him back in to a Vet...either his Vet or the specialist. The specialist will be in either Tuesday or Definitely on Wednesday.

I can't help but have the nagging feeling that this is his IBD which is going to be the end of him. He will waste away to nothing...sorrry, I am not feeling very positive right now..I am feeling down, about him and the fact that I have an urgent doctors appointment tomorrow morning for me...

Drowning myself with chocolate right now...

i just feel that Artie may not be around much longer..sorry can't help myself. Over the past year he has lost over a pound...he had several months of relief from the IBD and now all of this....

Try not to stress hun. He's still recovering from surgery, and evil antibiotics can be enough to give anyone an upset tummy. Hopefully he'll feel better and start eating more again tomorrow :cross:

You know I'm here if you need me. Mega, mega :vibes: for you both :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:
