Am I the only one that isn't interested in Harry Potter?

I'm with you, never appealed to me either. Not my style...

I read the first book; I thought it was interesting, but nothing to get worked up about. What I appreciated most about it was that the interest in it was encouraging kids to read (and getting them hooked on reading), which is certainly never a bad thing!

I liked the "fish out of water" aspect of the first book, but lost interest after that. As for the movies ... I've watched bits and pieces of all of them (save for the latest), but haven't actually seen any of them all the way through (or in order ...). J has watched all of them but hasn't read the books, although I think he would like them (he claims he has no interest in the books). Friends of ours obsessively collect the books and movies, and have probably already seen the latest movie and have no doubt pre-ordered the latest book.

I guess I just didn't think the books (or movies) measured up to the all the hype.

I'm also one of those that would like a wand. (Last night I dreamt that my mom made me a cloak.

I think that's what first attracted me to the books - the names. A friend (in his 50s at the time) got hooked from the first book on, and kept insisting that I'd love them. After he'd forced the third book on me, I read it, and went out the next day and bought the first two. I've pre-ordered since then.

I really don't like sci-fi, and found LOTR abysmally boring, but I can't put the HP books down, and have read all of them at least twice. I've recently re-read the last four, and would have re-read the first two, but our youngest niece has my copies.

The films are alright, but can't compare with the books. I have them on DVD, and find them amusing.

I prefer most books to their movie adaptations any day. The HP books and Eragon as well. I was suprised I liked Eragon the book, and the 2nd, Eldest, was even better.

Yeah, does Aslan and Narnia ring a bell? How many adults LOVE those stories and went to see the movie?

HP isn't for everyone. There's nothing wrong with that. The genre of the book will turn a lot of people off, Fantasy/Sci-Fi (can it even be termed Sci-Fi) aren't a lot of peoples cup of tea. And then a lot of people don't care for Rowlring's writing style. A friend of mine liked the first two movies, but hated her writing style.

heh heh, I'm one of the HP lovers though.

Thats what I meant on top of the broswer .............. when you click on it ........ a window will open and then you will need to type in what kind of smiley you want in the search space .......... for instance ....... type in "laughing" and you get a lot of laughing smileys ........ then find one you want and double clikc on it .......like this
