Thought this would be fun. I've moved 8 times in my life and lived in multiple states. Ones in red are the one's we still have.
In my 22yr's I've had:
Cats:
Miss Kitty: Grey tabby w/white markings,. My parents got her when we lived in the Marshall Island. Had to leave her with a fisherman when we moved back to the states.
Fluffy: Grey tabby. My mom got her and her brother for free from a coworker at the elementary school she worked at. For reason's I will never know, my parents didn't get either fixed. We ended up with around 20 cats
, in a single family suburban home. (No one noticed because it was a rundown, gang infested, high crime area). She had to have had up to 50 kittens before my dad took her and her last litter and let them loose in some nearby woods.
This happened when I was ten.
Mischief: Grey tabby. Fluffy's brother, also not fixed. He got in a bad fight, lost an eye and ran away a year later. I remeber my mom carrying him outside with his head facing her, as he continued to spray whatever he had started spraying.
Bandicoot: Long haired grey tabby. One of Fluffy's kittens, he was driven away by another tom.
Peewee: Grey Tabby, . One of Fluffy's last kittens. She was the runt of the litter, one of the reasons we kept her. She was spayed, declawed in front (she was destructive) and slowly grew into a fat and grumpy old lady. We owned her for 11 years, we think a coyote got her.
Kobyashi: Tuxedo. A little kitten we found in a bush in front of our house. Turned out he had Distemper. Was euthanized a few days later.
Cassidy: Beige tabby. We got her from a rescue that is based at a PetSmart store. She has a GI problem that was found when she was being spayed. She will puck up to 10 times a week, yet manages to remain overweight. She is the alpha cat.
Jessie: Diluted calico. From the same rescue as Cassidy. She has terrible allergies and even came with a small bottle of eyedropes when we adopted her. She will randomly loose her fur, vets don't know what she is allergic to.
Houdini (Houdy): Long haired black. He was free from the feedstore. He was so named since they he woulnd't stay in a cage and always found a way out. He never got fixed and wandered away.
Jayde: Siberian Mountain Cat. Was free off CL. Her old owner could no longer keep her due to her husband needing a kidney transplant. She is slowly going senile.
Jazz: Long haired grey tabby. Wandered up to the house one day. She ended up being pregnant and had seven kittens. Two of the kittens didn't make it, so now I have three males and two females. Paxton, Steve, and Ardeshir are the boys and Greta and Mizti are the girls.
Ardeshir (Ardy): Grey tabby. He is almost a week old and has one extra toe on each front paw, plus a kink in his tail.
Dogs:
Nina: B&W Husky mix. Got her from the shelter when we got back from the island. She ate some rat poison a day before she was supposed to be spayed, she almost bled out when the did the surgery. Given to a Husky Rescue after she became too much dog for us at the time.
Nala: Tri colored long haired small breed mix. Got her from a pet store in the mall. She was one of the smartest dogs I've ever known. She was house trained within a day and rarely had accidents. My mom once jokingly told her to "Get the cat, Nala!" and she jumped on top of Peewee when she was in her bed (cat was ok). Died in '08 from Lymphoma.
Chance: Red Chow mix. Dad got him from a coworker. He ate the wall, marked on the furniture and was too protective of me. Gave him to a soldier.
Chevy: Chocolate Lab mix. Free from the newspaper. She was given to a girl by her boyfriend. When they broke up the girl wanted nothing to due with her. She was neglected and abused. When we got her she had no sense of smell, was covered in ticks and was scared of everything. Euthanized in '10 at the age of 12 for old age and diabetes complications.
Zane: Reverse brindle pit mix. Was only one of two surviving pups that someone at tied fireworks aroudn their necks and lit. He is fear aggressive and does not like strange dogs or people. He also will "talk" to you if you don't scratch his back / give him a treat when he wants it.
Abby: Shiba Inu mix. Got her from an adoption day event. She was found with her mom and littermates in a vacant lot.
Deputy: Brindle w/white Catahula mix. Free ad in a feed store. His owner rescued dogs on death row and had too many at the time.
Horses
Little Bit: 15hh Bay QH. My mom bought her from a lady that owned a stable. Turned out he was proud cut (not gelded fully) and hated all other male horse. He ran a gelding through a fence, breaking both front legs. Would seperate the mares from the geldings and make them all night. Sold when we had to move.
Tuxedo: 15hh B&W QH x Clyd. Got from a rescue that lied to us. He was bombproof until he gained a few pounds. Sold after he tried to kill me.
Dusty: 15hh varnish roan mustang X appy. Got him from a family that does Field Trials (foxhunting without the fox). They no longer wanted him due to the fact he couldn't make them money. They got him from a trainer in AZ, who got him off a Navajo reservation. He died in '10 from a heart attack at the age of 23.
Patch 30in silver dapple paint Miniature. Reject from a breeder. He wasn't "perfect" in her opinion. Got him for $500 when all her other horses where 2k and up. He thinks he's a goat and gaurds the herd.
Goats:
Girls: Belle Starr, Josey, Lovey, Dovey, Snickers, Belle, Mishka, Angel, Brier, Bunny, Oreo, Sasha, Coco Puff, Josephine, Ginger Snap, Bridgitte, Ari, Athena, Jazz, Kali, Ginger, Mica, Sabrina, Puddin', Warbler, Zoe, Molly, Angelica, Chickadee, and Delilah.
