For the most part, I don't mind it. It is just that we missed trash pick-up last week and this storm hits again when we are due for trash pick-up. The recycling bin is getting full.Originally Posted by LuckyGirl
I love being snowed in....am I the only one?! There's nothing like putting on a marathon of lifetime movies, baking some cookies, having chili for dinner, and hot cocoa.....mmmmmmm.......
**safe traveling wishes for Heidi & her family! Stock up you pantry now while you can still get out!!!
We went to the store last night just to "make sure" and there's not much milk, bread, or produce. I also got the last of the hamburger!Originally Posted by valanhb
An update to the forcast....
2-5" of snow by this evening. 8-18" of snow by tomorrow morning, and "the snow just keeps on' comin'!" Total accumulations could (a) be around the same as last week, and (b) be measured in feet.
The grocery stores are expecting a boom day today (because apparently no one knew about the storm except me, Jana and Kim), but the shelves are already about 1/2 empty because of delivery issues from the storm last week. I can attest to that - we were there last night and it's a pretty slim selection in some areas of the store.
I just heard someone saying that when they were in the grocery store yesterday, they saw someone take a gallon of milk out of someone else's cart!Originally Posted by kluchetta

I am in So. California too. It snowed here in January 1999. I wish it would snow again so I didn't have to go to work.. LOL The place I worked at in 1999 told me not to come in because of the snow.. People here do not know how to drive in the snow. LOLOriginally Posted by halfpint
It is cold here in So California and we had rain last night and now were getting the winds again, the rain I hate with a passion
Be safe! (and apparently, at the grocery store as well.....)Originally Posted by valanhb

I would say recently we only get one big snow every three years.Originally Posted by kittylover4ever

Um, no. It's really not typical at all, especially not twice in 8 days. Colorado, and especially east of the mountains (Denver included) generally has a very mild, temperate climate. The mountains get a lot of snow, but the weather usually comes over the mountains, which lifts the snow up and over Denver. These last two, and the big one in 2003, are coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, mixing with arctic air, and wrapping around from the east/northeast. This butts the storm up against the mountains so it settles in to the front range and eastern plains of Colorado. They are actually starting to call this type of system a Colorado Low (according to someone who just recently completed Air Force Meteorology schoolOriginally Posted by kittylover4ever

I'll tell ya, dispite this type of storm, it would take a heck of a lot to drag me out of this state. I absolutely love it here!Originally Posted by Candlemaven
I visited Denver twice over the past 3 years and just absolutely fell in love with it. I would move there in a heartbeat. Just not this week.
What isn't typical is the two storms in a small period. But we've always have had blizzards come in every 3-4 years. The mayors of Denver tend to be voted out after a bad one. Currigan, McNichols were both voted out after a bad storm. Pena got a lot of flack when he sent the trash trucks into the residential areas to pack the snow down and they ended up with ruts 1 1/2 feet deep.Originally Posted by valanhb
