Greetings.
I am going to go into the SPCA tomorrow after work and look at bringing home another cat into my apartment. I currently own a cat, I've had him since he was 8 weeks old. My logic here is I am at work most my time (40 hours a week) and I would like my little guy to have some company while I'm not there to play with him. Now, Dexter, my current cat is going on 2 years old in March. I'm getting mixed advice on how I should go about adopting another cat into his life.
I've been told gender doesn't matter, I've been told it does. I've been told you want to get a kittken, I've been told you want to get a cat the same age as the one I have. I'm leaning more towards getting one close to his age, as since I'm at work a lot, I can't closely monitor a kitten like I did with Dexter when I wasn't working so much. Anyway, are there any tips for when I go in tomorrow to pick another little guy up? Things like litter box placement tips, etc. I'm really excited to get another cat as well as my original intention was to adopt Dexter and his little sister when I took him home. But I couldn't afford two cats at that time, however circumstances changed.
Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.
