Hello! We recently adopted a 4.5yo tabby from a local rescue that has a Cat Cafe. Our little guy was the life of the party there and we took him home Friday evening. Saturday we noticed reduced appetite and Sunday he was hardly eating or drinking water that we saw. We rushed him to the vet with diagnosis of stress and a possible virus like herpes that flares up due to stress accompanied with a bacterial infection... lucky kitty, right?). Blood work was clear. He got a few shots, fluids and tried Hills prescription diet. He did eat a good bit of that on Sunday night. Monday evening rolls around and still little to no appetite and could not tell of water intake. We took him back to the vet and X-Rays were clear. He's got some clear discharge from his eyes and nose, while sitting here drooling . The vet (different one than Sunday) agreed it seems like he is just sick and some home remedies. We are at Wednesday, he is drinking water freely but only sipping up broth from foods we try, nothing solid. Any similar experiences or guidance? The poor kitty lost 1.5lbs while with the rescue (he is only 8.5lbs) currently. We have had every test done that can be done and I'm hoping it is just some stress, but I've never had a situation like this in 33 years having cats.
