I'll set one up for her.

She hasn't eaten anything, she really doesn't want to leave it alone. She's fine with me picking it up, but when I go toward the nest box, she gets really vocal about it. Doesn't really want to leave the bed, either, which I'm fine with. She's on an old mattress cover and under that is three layers of puppy pads, so she can goop it up all she wants.

You'll need to give her nest service. Literally put the dish of wet food or KMR in the nest. She'll probably go for it if you serve her in bed! [emoji]128521[/emoji]

I would not handle the baby right now.

She practically inhaled about half a cup of KMR liquid, so I'm gonna make her more, and pop her open a new can of food to go with it.

Noted. Do not touch baby.

Wonderful!

My cat would not leave the nest for 12 hours, then only to use the litterbox. Make sure her box is right nearby - maybe a foot or two away, no further.

Mine sucked down 3 dishes of KMR, and ate a bowl of boiled chicken. They are usually famished after their ordeal!

I'm glad she's refreshing herself. It will help her in every way! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

She's super happy to see the wetfood, as well!! Should I just be giving her KMR instead of water?

I don't think my husband would be too happy to walk in and see the litterbox on the bed, so I'll stick it on the ground by the foot of the bed.

If she's drinking KMR and eating wet food, she will not need water right away.

I must have missed something - she's on your bed???

Yep. She started out in the closet, then went under the bed right up until the kitten started coming out, then she got super freaked out and jumped up on the bed, doing cartwheels until it plopped out and has been there since. If I wasn't so shocked, it might have been the funniest moment of my life.

I've been afraid to move her, since I don't know if she's still in labor or not.

You need to move her at least down onto the floor. Just pick up the entire nest with her and kitten in it, and put it on the floor next to your side of the bed, with food and litter box right there. Sit yourself on the floor next to her for a few minutes while she accepts this.

Let me know how this goes.

I was able to pick the box up and move it to the closet, it was a short distance. She doesn't look to happy about it, but she's staying in there with the kitten and hasn't tried to move him. Hopefully she won't panic if'n another one comes and rush back to the bed.

She is possibly done if she's back to eating and is tending to baby. She may end up liking the dark closet better. Fingers crossed she and baby stay put!

It'd sure be nice if she was done, things would be a lot easier with only one baby. She ate right up until she had the dang thing, literally about five minutes before she went under the bed, so I'm prepped in case there's another.

If she does, just go with it while it's happening. She'll likely stay put in the closet though, with her baby, especially if you have everything she needs right there nearby - food, litter, etc.

Sit with her a bit for comfort, but she did not need to be on your bed tonight. My cat lived in a closet with her babies for 3 weeks. Yours should be okay.

Is your husband a physician?

I think she just got scared and went to where we usually are when we're in the room, I'm about a foot away from her and she knows I'm right here, so she should be okay. :)

He's an EMT/Firefighter with the state of Texas, actually. So he knows how to hold people/things together until you can get to a physician. But he's actually working at the ER as an IT specialist(trained through the Army), since it's a free standing ER he takes care of all the technical stuff for North and East Texas.

Good for him! One of the most necessary people on earth. We're blessed to have people like him looking out for us.

Bliss will take a lot of comfort from having you nearby. New moms of all kinds always appreciate that.

What a great, and probably stressful, job! Now he won't come home to a mama cat and her kitten in his bed. But it's really for mom and baby's comfort and safety to be in the closet.

It does not sound like she has another baby to birth right now. Did she eat any wet food?

I'm super proud of him, that's for sure!

It really is stressful, especially for someone as young as he is. Half the time he's on shift and he's the only one at any location working on the tickets. He'll be happy to have the bed, and happy she's safe.

She did eat a bit of it, and had some more KMR.

A few minutes ago I gave her belly a rub and I swear I felt some movement in there, so there may be more than one.

oh god she just jumped back up on the bed

*edit; I got her down by showing her the KMR bowl, by the nest, so it may have been she just got confused.

She hoped back down and is laying the nest. I see ripples moving along her belly, and she's still panting pretty fast, but I'm not sure if the ripples are just kitten movement. She didn't make much noise before she had the first kitten, so it's hard for me to tell on my own.
