How's it going? Is Zoe getting better?
All i can say is 60/min is a lot, since 15-20 is normalToday's vet update...Zoey started the morning with a temp of 102.4, which I realize is the high side of normal. I asked the vet to please give her fluids this morning but he said a fever isn't bad and that they use her temps to see if the antibiotics are working. What I don't understand is if she feels better, eats, plays and acts "normal" when her temp is down, then why wouldn't they give her fluids until she fights off the infection? I tried pushing the vet to please give her fluids but he was pretty adamant about not giving them to her this AM. When we got home, Zoey played a little, didn't eat as much as the previous days and seemed to sleep more today. I took her back this afternoon for her second dose of meds and they checked her temp and said it was 101.5! Of course I was more than thrilled but it seems odd that Zoey has a pattern of elevated temps in the morning and lower in the afternoon. I trust that the vet is telling me the truth and not what I want to hear just to stop me from asking about giving her fluids. But it seems odd when throughout the day she didn't seem as active as other days. She slept nearly all day, in fact is still sleeping as I type. I asked the vet about her sneezing and he seems unconcerned relative to the other issues Zoey is dealing with. [emoji]128563[/emoji] (FYI...the vet on call over the weekend is not Zoey's usual vet. He's a little less empathic to our situation which in itself is frustrating) I just want so badly for this new antibiotic to be the right one to help her rid the infection. Today is dose 5 and they said she'll only get three more days. I'm so worried that her fever hasn't come down enough to truly indicate the infection is clearing up. I'm trying to stay optimistic but like I've said earlier after everything we've been through I'm sensitive to the slightest cough, fever, or sneeze. Praying my little munchkin keeps fighting!
By the way I asked the vet about her respiratory rate and it's still around 60 breaths per minute. Could that be due to only having 3 functioning lung lobes?
