I had a car broken into and briefcase stolen -- nothing earthshattering on that one, except the inconvenience.

Our house was broken into and some jewellery stolen -- among it one quite valuable ring of Rob's. The scary part of that one was that it was mid-afternoon, I was out shopping and came home to find the screen off the kitchen window and the door opened that way. When I got to the front of the house, I discovered my most lethal kitchen knife on the floor just inside the front door, dropped as they left.

Needless to say, Rob's leisure activity in the following several days was focussed on beefing up security.

This is almost too ridiculous too mention, but might provide some comic relief in this very serious, scary thread (gosh, I can't believe all the things our members have lived through!)

When I was working at my last job, I used to keep quarters in my desk drawer to use in the soda and snack machines. One day I realized that the quarters were gradually disappearing from my drawer. Once I established that it wasn't just my imagination, I mentioned it to my boss, who proceeded to mention it to another partner in the firm (I was practicing law at the time, by the way). Well, these crazy lawyers with nothing to do with their time apparently (since all the junior lawyers like me were doing all the work probably...) decided to set up a sting in my office, all for a bunch of stupid quarters--they actually bought a camera to hook up to the computer in my office, camouflaged it with a document box, and planted quarters in my desk.
Well, of course, the video software kept crashing my computer and I wasn't allowed to tell the IT guys, because it was supposed to be super secret. Then they finally got the thing up and working and every night before I left I was supposed to activate it and shut off my monitor. Well, of course, because of the way the camera was positioned, the last shot on the film every night was of my backside as I turned around to leave.

(They eventually did catch the guy who was stealing my quarters. I felt kind of bad, because it was the head of the mailroom and they ended up firing him, when really they should have given him a raise--imagine how desperate you have to be to steal money fifty or seventy-five cents at a time? I had never really wanted the person to be fired, I just wanted to let someone know that stuff was being stolen in the office and people should take care not to leave their wallets around or anything. But once I told these guys, it was like a bone to a dog, they couldn't let it go.)

Plenty of times.

What really sucks is that my siblings are not yet citizens. Some crimes I cannot report because the father of the chick is Immigration.

I haven't been (knock on wood)...but my husband was harrassed at work by believe it or not women!! lol...it was a big ordeal, that they tried to turn around on him and in the end the court decided they were at fault and that they had harrassed jason.

Long story short my husband and I worked together and these women were jealous of our relationship and were trying to get back at us.

I had my cool minibag with a clock keychain stolen from my locker when I nealt down to put my boots on in the third grade. I had a tire slashed last year too. We're still getting $2 or less checks from the state for it.
I don't even have that car anymore.

Leighann, why are you getting checks from the state?

I had my personalised Swiss Army Knife taken from my tool box in college. Also at college, someone went around keying my friends and my cars!
I still have the CCTV tape, but we never did catch them

I'm sorry, but that is so funny! I probably would've needed a wide angle lens!

Plus, they would've caught me on TCS all day! Yikes! I'd be busted!!!

Well then in that case both me and my daughter are victims of crime. I was verbally, sexually and physically abused by my ex husband and my daughter had her arm broken by him when she was 9 weeks old.

Actually I was the victim of a crime a couple days ago. Someone I work with stole one of my CD's. Unfortunately he hasn't shown up for work for the last couple days so I haven't got it back yet.
