Stevie Wonder wrote, sings and plays most of the instruments in his music.
He is unique. As far as I can tell, none of the AI contestants have his expertise in music.

It will be fun to see who really slaughters his music and who knows...maybe 1 or 2 won't hurt our hearing when they "sing."

I just realized that AI is a 2 hr. show tonight.
All 12 will sing. If it is an all Stevie Wonder show...
that really could damage our hearing.

Interesting selection for the theme this week. I say interesting because Elliot is the only one who got props from the Judges for attempting to do a song by such an accomplished and talented performer.

I understand that they want diversity for the AI, but I wish they would do more general themes (like the decade of music, or style rather than one particular performer) where the contestants can show more of their personality. The winner pretty much determines their own style of music that they will record, and it doesn't include a whole lot of diversity and no covers.

Some other rumored themes are Rod Stewart and 50's week. I also prefer the broader themes. Last year was fairly broad and allowed people like Bo to select a song that would showcase their talent. I would hate to see someone like Chris get voted off because they were not able to do well with a Stevie Wonder song.

I am ready and excited for tonight... I LOVE Stevie Wonder!

I like the broader themes as well, because it's possible not everyone could sing a song from just one performers list.

I'm anxious to see the transformations now that they have stylists working them over. I'm really curious to see what they do with Taylors hair (if they color it or leave it gray)

Elliot can really sing but I wonder if the professional makeover folks can transform his looks to an AI type that will appeal to the younger demographic that buys CDs & concert tickets.
I hope so because he is really good.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Taylor's gray hair.

This is for you Karen....WOO!

Since everyone hasn't seen it yet, all I can say is that was a strange show.

Tonight was not that good. The stand out preformance was Chris because his seemed real. The lighting was good and the band was good. All the others stuff like that didnt compare. My favorite guy is Taylor. I dislike Katherine. I love Paris and Mandisa.

Dang it, I didn't know it was a 2 hour show and I only taped 1/2 of it, missing Chris' performance.
Hopefully I'll be able to dig up someone who has taped the whole thing. I thought Bucky did really well, I always liked that song anyway.

I think a Stevie Wonder themed night was a BAD idea. It made all the singers with the exception of just a few, sound bad. I don't think many of them are experienced enough to sing those songs very well.

I really hope it's Kevin at the least. I was really surprised Melissa forgot her lines... BIG mistake this far along.

Even though I really like Stevie Wonder - I didn't really like the show last night - only a couple of them sang songs of his that I really knew well.

Katherine is my favorite. I love her.

She has the classic beauty of Katherine Zeta Jones, a well trained singing voice and is beginning to blossom on stage.

I think that the judges would like a male to win this year.
I suspect it might be Chris.

Why are we so hooked on this show.

Surprisingly, Bucky's performance was one of my favorite last night. Although it wasn't great vocally (I think Randy mentioned that), he really did sing it in his style. So did Chris, but Chris had the advantage of performing a song that had already been rocked out by the Chili Peppers and so he had some idea of how to do it. Plus, Bucky seemed to have a lot of fun with it.

It was a strange show. The last few performers were so much better than the first group it was like watching two different shows.
