Annoying Commercials

A couple of commercials annoy me and I just wanted to vent. Okay?

#1 - Ad to encourage pregnant women not to smoke or drink and take your vitamins.
Amid the many images of women in various states of pregnancy doing various things is one of a woman walking down the center line of a road. It may be a country lane, but it doesn't keep some dimwit from barreling down it when you least expect it!

#2 - Shown early this year and may return with the cold and flu season, it's for a thick no-spill cough/cold syrup for children.
Mother approaches child with a spoonful of regular syrup and it all spills on the child's clothing. Mother turns to camera and whimpers, "What do I do? Give him more? Wait?" For Pete's sake! Not one drop got in the kid's mouth! You can pour out another spoonful!

There, I feel better. Others annoy me, but these are the top ones right now.

I have enver seen either of those commercials. I have a list of ones that annoy me though!

There is one that isn't as annoying as it is sick.

There was a commercial here about a guy and his son going out to get more gas for the barbeque. The father was speeding and couldn't stop in time when a car in front of him slowed down. He swerved onto the footbath where a woman had a baby in a pram, walking. He hit the lady and the next scene shows him holding the baby who has blood all over, and then the dead mother, then his son screaming in the car.

I don't know what made them think of and show on television such a sickening commercial.

we get alot of drink drive adverts,but they are normally shown when ppl are already out in the bars getting drunk??????

Shimmer, that sicko commercial that you posted about... what was the point of it? Not to speed or jaywalk? Man... I'm glad they don't show gory stuff outright like that on TV here... I'd be totally grossed out!

I find ALL commercials annoying. This is why I record anything I would like to watch on DVR and fast forward through the commercial breaks!

the vonage commercials.

We are heading into the most commercial-crazy time of the year. Why? Cuz of Christmas.

The commercials for all the latest & greatest toys are already starting. Good lord, it's not even Halloween yet, and man all these TOY COMMERCIALS are starting to bug the crud out of me! We were watching something on a regular ol TV channel and here comes all the toy commericals.

My daughter saying, "I want that!"... next commercial... "I want that!"...

Every single commercial was about TOYS. I know the toy companies have to market their stuff, but geezus. It's like when you're in the grocery store and at the check-out line, there's all that CANDY, and they know you are standing there with your kid, and the last thing you need is a freaking Reese's Supersized Crunch bar or something.

As far as a certain commercial that bugs me; I don't like any commercial that depicts "all mothers" as stay-home moms who drive minivans, have messy hair and wear pants and dress like men. There are lots of other styles of moms out here, moms who wear long dresses, have feminine hair, full time jobs, and drive sports cars. I get the willies when I see a manly-mom driving a minivan being stamped "the mom of America".

Like sunnicat, we tend to tape most shows, then get to zip through the commercials.
shimmer- Australia really goes for the hard hitting, take no prisoners approach to getting the speeding/drunk driving message across. I remember when they put car wrecks from actual accidents up as billboards along the roadside. Quite controversial.

I try not to let my daughter watch TV with commercials. That's something I love about Playhouse Disney (granted this is only good if your child is young enough to watch the shows on Playhouse..). They don't show ANY commercials! Breaks during the shows are used to advertise episodes of other shows on Playhouse Disney.

And yeah, a lot of commercials annoy me! Especially the one about the no-spill medicine! The ones for I think Orbitz gum bugs me too. And the one for Listerine Pocket Paks where the nasty looking guy is sleeping on a plane with his head on this lady's shoulder, and she puts one in his mouth. I hate commercials! I don't know what makes them think anyone cares! Oh and the Burger King commercials...the "King" is creepy!

No spill medicine, suuuuure, rofl!! I admittedly have not seen this ad - not even in medical journals as a print ad but they wold be marketing it in a different way to me I suppose - the latest greatest "new" med.

I am not fond of these pharmacutical companies marketing so many meds anyway. Ppl then go to their doctor and inist on the med, knowing NOTHING about it (there are no monographs with the TV versions!!!) and thinking it might help them with God knows what. I especially hate the ones about erectile dysfucnction which many believe (see Marcia Angell's great book on the pharmacutical industry) was created by these companies to make money amg a target group - male baby boomers or older - and they are succeeding, sigh!! (I think that irks me more, lol)

I think it may be a function of age and generation but the older I get, the sillier many of the commercials on TV look! (conversely - as a comedian friend of mine says, "the older you get, the more the cowboy music makes sense")

I definitely hate the direct-to-consumer drug ads. There are useful drugs but they are not for everyone.

Cowboy music still doesn't make sense but I did grow to love Bluegrass.

The ads that really irritate me are the 4-wheeling ads where some idiot in a 4-wheel vehical is just ripping up the landscape (and then in itty-bitty type that is up for 1/10 of a second - says "don't do this"). Some areas in the west are so damaged that they won't recover for centuries providing they are left alone. Excuse me, but actions speak louder than words.

There is a new cell phone company commercial out. Boost? There slogan is "Where u at". You have got to be kidding me. I guess it is time to throw out proper english and start talking like we are from the lower ninth ward of New Orleans. Unbelieveable!

The Sprite commercials annoy me. When they take a raggedy car and put a ton of electonics in it, or when the lil guy is riding on the back of the dog and racing the other guy to the last sprite... god thats annoying

I hate the Burger King commercials. All of them. From the annoying rap to the creepy Burger King.
The kid's medicine commercials are almost as bad. If I had spit out my medicine all over myself, my mom would have pinched my nose until I opened my mouth, then given me the spanking I would have deserved, sick or not. I don't like any commercial featuring bratty kids.

Don't get me started on commercials!! It's hard to think of any that don't annoy me!

First it's infomercials...It doesn't matter what they are selling but all of them make people seem like complete idiots!

Car commercials annoy me because they always show total reckless driving and in very, very tiny print at the bottom of the screen there's a disclaimer about not driving like they show on the commercial.

There are more but I'll limit my reply to these 2.

ARG! All of those "enhancement" commercials! BOB can take his happy smile and shove it! Like that's the only thing that matters?!? Aren't there people with REAL medical issues that deserve some help - or just those with bedroom issues?

The other problem I have with the real 'scrip commercials is that half of them don't even tell you what ailment they treat. How am I supposed to know what to "ask my doctor" about if I don't know what they treat? All I know is that they make all of those people feel great, except for possibly causing upset stomach, nausea, ulcers, blindness and death in rare cases. Oh, unless you're treating herpes, and then that's plastered all over the commercial.

Oh yeah, and all of those feminine products commercials. Obviously none of those women actually are at that time of the month, or they wouldn't be that freakishly happy!

Oh man I can't stand that one either....i also hate....

1. The one where the lady is washing her kitchen with raw chicken...to proove that using old sponges to clean is bad......

2. The charmin commercials with the momma bear and baby bear going the bathroom at a tree and wiping themselves....the whole time there is this awfully annoying jingle "Charmin ultra less is more"....

3. the one for a car shopping web site...all of them drive me bonkers....but the one that gets me the most peeved is the one where the poor guy just paints the car blue, and this women is like "Umm can I see the car in red again".....oh I want to hit her everytime

I hate the Littermaid ads! The wife jumping going, I'm cleanin the litterbox!

I also hated a pizza commercial on the radio with someone talking with their mouth full! Pet peeve!
