So glad to hear the antibiotics are working already!! Good stuff as they say! And I quite agree- it is never good to start mixing meds by yourself.

Gilly, doctors hear much more embaressing things believe me - tho yeah, I know it is tugh for YOU not him!! I sooo feel for the young women patients I have who have cancer and want top ask questions about their period and the pill and pregnancy and usually they do once mom is out the door. (Parents are wonderful but can be a hovering hassle on occasion). I have noticed that kids are getting much better at asking questions tho and that's a good thing!!

Gilly, I'm glad the swelling is down
. I'm also glad that you were able to take things in stride- you have a great sense of humor and that will take you through many rough patches in your life

Gilly, I'm glad you're feeling better. What a nasty little black bug.

I know it's embarrassing for the doctor to say things like that over and over again, but you'd be surprised how dense some people can be! I know two people who got pregnant because they didn't know that antibiotics interfere with the pill. (Even though it seems like both the doctor AND the pharmacist tell you every time you get a prescription for either the pill or antibiotics!)

Yup, had a couple in my high school that had that happen to them

And then, I had to tell my doctor FOUR TIMES that I was taking BCP's and he STILL prescribed me Tetracycline, and never once mentioned the counteraction w/the BCP's. I didn't take them.

Did the doctor think that it was the bug bite that caused your infection?
I am glad that you finally got to see a doctor. Take all your meds as ordered. Feel better soon.

It was defo the bug that caused it he said.... thing is with bugs, you don't know what they have landed on / eaten before they decide to bite the human
so that's what causes the infection.

The swelling went down a bit last night, but this morning I woke up in a lot of pain and now the swelling is on the other side of my foot! It hurts more today than yesterday so I hope it's just a case of the nasty stuff being zapped. Oh and I had to stand 9 stops on the tube this morning so I am sure the extra pressure didn't help....

If it's still bad tomorrow night, I will get an appointment for Thursday. I might take a pic of me feet to show you all tonight! hahaha

I did that this morning, no luck...

I sometimes see really heavily pregnant women standing up and ppl don't offer them a seat... but then sometimes you can't tell if they are pregnant or not!

that reminds me, last year i was talking to these couple that were in the supermarket in frankfurt asking for Pork chops but obviously they didnt have it, so i decided to stop them to ask where they were from and to congratulate her with her baby, her hubby was so peed off because noone in london on busses and trains would let her have a seat, she is very slim so you could purely see she was pregnant.

Reminds me of earlier this year - I was not pregnant, but I had been pretty sick in hospital for a while and I had undergone a fairly large operation. I had not been moving much for quite a while before the operation, or directly after it and so all my muscles were wasted away.

I had to take a buss back to the hospital for a checkup and I kind of had this bent over hobble walk, trying to cradle my long incision on my chest/tummy. Add to that my severe weakness - it was almost impossible to stand on the buss as it stops and starts and goes around corners. I cant count the number of times I landed in someones lap, or flung into the bars because I just didnt have the strength to stay upright. Do you think anyone offered their seat - NO WAY. Whenever anyone got up to leave the seat was scored by an older person who seemed to ignore the fact that I could hardly stand when the buss was stationary!!

To make matters even nastier, the next time, I managed to score a seat, the last one on the buss, and this older woman who got on behind me started giving me the filthiest looks. She was only about 55 - and she seemed very strong - she certainly didnt fall all over the place with every shift of the buss like I did. Anyway, I was in no postition to offer her my seat. People really need to think before they judge.

Ok Fran, the pictures do not do the foot the justice it deserves!

But, here's lefty and righty - even my little toe and the toe next to it are swollen!:

Side view of elephant ankle and swollen calf (I was bit on the ankle):

Foot and ankle merging into one:

Fat foot:

But, I think the swelling has gone down this evening from this morning thankfully!

Seeing how red it is, I definately think you need to go to the Doctor again. Something like that could lead to blood poisoning
