Thank you...I just finished, and was happy to find this thread, which I am now reading. All I could think of was that B was for Black, but I couldn't remember which one. I think you are right!

I think I have a different idea then others about book 7's ending. I have a odd feeling that one of the Horcrux is in Harry himself... that is how he speaks to the snakes.... why he should have been in Slytherin... and his temper... Its been said that some of Voldys powers were transfered to Harry when Voldy tried to kill Harry. Perhaps killing Harrys mum was powerful enough to place a Horcrux in Harry? I believe that Harry will end up taking his life or they will kill each other at the same time... making Harry a marytr. Just IMHO
I thought there was a lot of snoggering in this book, forgive me, but does that just mean kissing, or making out, or possibly hint at more? I figured it just ment kissing but I am not sure.

I had the exact same thought about one of the horcruxes being in harry. It makes sense with the prophecy,

OOP pg 841 american version

"The one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches....... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies, and the dark lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the dark lord knows not.... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.... the one with the power to vanquish the dark lord will be born as the seventh month dies.

That to me says that as long as a part of the dark lords soul is in harry, voldemort is not dead, and if voldemort kills harry, a part of his soul dies. Of course dumbledore also says that voldemort was going to kill harry so he could make a horcrux but since harry did not die he could not make it. So overall I do not know what is going to happen there.

Another thing, remember just because dumbledore is dead, his portrait did come up in the headmasters office, so if nothing else harry can still recieve guidance from the picture of dumbledore, as pictures talk.

As for dumbledores death would it be possible to get polyjuice potion and have someone be dumbledore for snape to kill him? I dont think its dumbledores style though to have a funeral like that and then come back a few days later and said sorry guys it was all for show. I am going with he is really dead. Maybe he will choose to be a ghost so that he can live at the school forever.

JKR is really big about choices. I think that is why she showed us so much of tom riddle's past as well as some of snape to show that harry, snape and tom had similar beginnings, and due to thier choices , their lives are vastly different. I also thought it was interesting how draco could not kill dumbledore, as much as he despised him (just repeating his fathers opinion?), when it came down to it he could not do it. that shows that malfoy is not all bad. Remember how moaning murtle said that he had been crying in the bathroom, and how we saw him before harry put that curse on him? He was being forced to do it, and he did not want to... I wonder how that will play out in book 7.

I am curious...Dumbledore was weakening, something was happening that I wonder if it could not be reversed? and the plea to Snapes was to do what Dumbledore himself had alerted him that he might have to do. When he and Harry got back, what Dumbledore asked Harry to do, under pain of his vow to obey, was to go get Snapes for him.
The "please" that he later said to Snapes reminded me of that promise he'd extracted from Harry to obey him no matter what, to Snape, it was a plea..."please do as I asked, please do what needs to be done" no matter how hard.

It was particularly interesting to me that what upset Snape so much in his last interchange with Harry, when he revealed he was the HBP, was that he did not want to be called a coward. Perhaps he has indeed had more courage than any of us yet know.

And perhaps I am way off here...

Hmmm. Did it seem to anyone else that Snape was almost protecting Harry as Malfoy, Snape and other Death Eaters were running down by Hagrids??

Something tells me that we'll see some good from Snape.

You bring up a fabulous point. Snape and dubledore had and argument that we found out about via hagrid. Could this have been when dumbledore had given snape that order, to carry it out no matter how hard? One thing you also made me think of, do you remember how adament snape was that harry not use an unforgivable curse? everytime he tried snape blocked him and would not let him get it out. If snape really wanted to hurt harry or wanted harry to die, why would he have cared?

Yes...thank you, I remember wondering about that. I think I can't wait for this next book, even knowing it is supposed to be the last.

We did get told just not in great detail, he was trying to destroy the horcrux in the ring and it burnt his hand. that is pretty much all that was said.

I forgot - sorry - snoggering IS fooling around and kissing. Necking we'd call it in this part of Canada anyway, lol

I actually do trhink we'll hear the whole story of how Dumbledore injured his hand. He kept promising to explain it and mentioned early on that it was a long story "for later" and "later" never really came except that brief reference which did not tell us what actually occured. I suppose he can do it from the picture in the HeadMaster (Mistress)'s office but I don't know - I think he'll be bac, in some way! Mind you, JKR did say children need to learn about death so I could be wrong. I am anxious for the next book now, lol

I thought it would be Dumbledore who dies in this one. As long as he was around, Harry couldn't come into his full power, he'd always rely on Dumbledore and be in his shadow. I don't think Dumbledore's role is finished, either. A co-worker of mine said that he thinks Dumbledore will come back through the veil, leading an army. Remember the voices Harry and Luna heard?

I also thought Dumbledore was trying to save Malfoy from becoming a murderer. Have to go back and reread that scene to catch some of the details. The first time through, I was too upset at the thought of Dumbledore dying.

Just an idea, what ppl can do if they post spoilers is post them in the light colour like this:

Can you read this?

Then you just highlight it if you want to read it!

This might only apply if you have your forum settings to the one with the creamy and red colours though.

Well, this is the spoilers thread-says so right in the title and in the first post. This thread was started so we could discuss the book in detail. I'm sorry if people have wandered in and been spoiled, but they were warned...

Dumbledore did say it was a wonderful story and a quick telling wouldn't be able to do it justice and all we really heard was he broke the ring and burned his hand. I sure hope there is more to the story lol
