Hah...my maiden name was Speciale...I'll let your imaginations take you away with that one.

I didn't hyphenate my name when I married because then I would have been Speciale-Krook

I had jokes made about my first name too... They'd always point out that Cassie minus the "C" spells something bad.

My last name is that of a famous literary spy.

Yep, I'm Bond, Jan Bond. We would get phone calls very late at night from people in various states of inebriation asking for James. My Dad's official first name starts with "J" and that is how it was listed in the phone book.

I do get double takes when announcing my name. Use to freak out the (then) new clerk at the comic store I frequented.

My maiden name is Minotty, which, so conveniently for my classmates, rhymes with snotty, potty, and hottie.
My married name is Mendelsohn...no real grounds for making-fun there, but no one can pronounce it...it's the h that throws them off. It's Men-del-son but we get Men-del-so-hone and all kinds of other strange variations from telemarketers all the time!

My name used to get switched around all the time. Whenever we had a sub at school they would ineveitably call me Michelle Leg-A-Han. The comma was there for a reason people! I never really got made fun of for my last name or anything. My A&P professor in college did call me Michelobe though. But it was affectionately! We called him Hazelnut and some of this other names for Students were Zitz, Mother, Banal, etc. The names were for the students he liked!
Now that I'm a Harris I doubt there is much people can do with that for many jokes. I did know a few kids who's names were deffianatley easy targets though...Funk, Semens, and a few others.....

Mine tops them all..... Jolly. Yes, it is pronounced just like the word. I still hear people (adults) laugh when I tell them my last name.

Guess some of the names I was called, and I'll tell you if you are right!

Nothing exciting, they just all thought my name was (and should be pronounced) as "Special" and that made them laugh. It's not how one says it, but does (in French and Italian) mean Special

I spent years also hearing them mangle how to say it
I pronounced it "Speh-shall-ee"

My married name is of Swedish origin, from a long standing Swedish family that emigrated around 1908.
