My name is Cheryl Cocco. While growing up.......or even as an adult, here are some "jokes" I had to hear:

1. There was a boy in school named Tony Bosco. Everyone thought it best that we should date and marry so I can be called Cheryl Cocco-Bosco.
(I know........real original.)

2. In my 8th grade graduation book a neighbor, who was much older than myself, wrote: "I love coffee, and I love tea, but, everynight I take my cocoa to bed". My Dad, who's Italian, wanted to know which neighbor wrote this!
I had no idea why my Dad became so furious since I was 12 yrs. old and didn't (at that time) understand.
(Sad but true)

3. While dating I was called "Instant Cocco"

Last, but not least, from what I could remember, (I'm sure there's more) I've been called: coconuts, cocoa krispies, cocoapuffs, One Flew Over the Cocco's Nest, blah, blah, blah....

So now that you know mine, anyone want to share theirs?

well, growing up my last name was never made fun of.... i suppose because Anderson is kind of a boring last name.

However, my married name is Ferreira... you should see peoples faces as they are trying to pronounce that (the 'i' throws everyone off). Nobody gets it right, not even my parents.

Most everyone says Ferrari.
That gets annoying.

My last name is Peters, and I'll just say that when I was in middle school there were a few really disgusting boys who had a few charming things to say about my name.

I know some people won't get it, and that's fine by me!!

Ferreira is a VERY common name around here. There is a large Portuguese population in this area.

My maiden name was Vezina(which is French) , which some people would pronounce Fazina and then they would get Fuzzy from that! it's not fun to be a teenage girl and to be called Fuzzy!

My married last name is Sylvia (another portuguese last name), and everyone thinks that is my first name. People get that confused ALL the time, especially in e-mail!

I grew up in Somerset, which is right next to Fall River. I have been following your other thread, so don't hold it against me that I am from around your husband's hometown!
