Do you like my spotted belly?

Ok, time to relax, I'm back

How do you tell them apart!?

And, those aren't cats! They're horses!!!! They're HUGE!

Boris isn't even a year old yet either. He has 2 more years to mature. It is getting more difficult to tell them apart now. Boris is as big or now larger than Amber and they are both getting their orange summer coloring. I can usually tell by looking at their face. Boris still has those round kitten eyes and that innocent look. Amber has a much more mature look to her and she is more slender. Boris being a male is more stocky. It will get easier to tell them aprt once he gets older, because he will be bigger than Amber. I will put more pictures up here in a couple days. After our wonderful spring snow storm, I had no lights, water or phone, so now I am busy catching up on things that need to get done. I will put more pics up soon

If I see their faces, I can tell them apart. Amber's black stripe is below her eye, Boris' comes right out of the outer corner of his eye (at least on the left eye, that's the ones I've concentrated on). I trust these markings won't change with age?

Funny, I never really noticed that and I live with them
The markings should stay, they just change colors with the summer and winter months. Orange in the summer and brown/grey in the winter.

Well, a few months ago, I mentioned that we would be getting a new bobcat in a few months. (He is a rescue!!
) Well, it has taken longer than I expected
There has been a number of reasons, the weather was a big factor. Not able to get outside and build an enclosure. Heck, I am still dealing with the HUGE branches in the yard from that big wet snow we had just a couple weeks ago. Anyway, I have been on vacation this week and yesterday, we got to visit him, our soon to be new bobcat companion. Since he was never raised indoors, he has to be outside. He is such a BIG boy too!! When I first layed eyes on him I said, you sure that's a bobcat? (he looks like a small cougar)
My wife and I and the lady who is taking care of him for the moment, spent a few hours outside in his enclosure, talking to him and hand feeding him. We did not get to touch him, but I want him to get used to our voices and scent, before the big move. We brought him some clothes that we slept in for a few days, so he will have our scent there with him in his sleeping area. We are going to visit him a few more times as well, before the moving day. So here he is, this is Bob (Can anyone think of some better ideas for a name? We will not be keeping that name, Bob the bobcat
)
Here he is, what an awesome boy

More of Bob

I can't wait until he is here

Boris says "What, did someone say another bobcat boy"?

Amber says, "yes Boris, can you believe it"

MMMMMMMMM..."Bob" is a very lovely fellow. How do you envision interaction between him and Amber and Boris longterm? Will they get to visit him in his enclosure?

As for name, I wonder about Cedric or Cecil. I wasn't trying for the next letter of the alphabet
-- those names just suggested themselves.

I kinda like the name "Caesar".

John, you make me laugh! How in the name of heavens could any of us ever be bored by more pictures of your fantastic animals?

If everyone else is like me, they wait with bated breath for all and any new pictures.

You and Terri are wonderful people and do a fabulous job with these animals. My hat is off to both of you.

AND KEEP THOSE PICTURES COMING!

We also need to see more pictures of Aurora and your other felines. Bring em on!

Chaz comes to mind when I look at him

I'd just like to say that I'm very jealous, I'd researched bobcats for years, hoping to one day have one.
Then I moved, only to discover that here, exotic cats, including bobs, are considered very dangerous and therefore illegal, yet it's perfectly legal to keep full blood wolves as house pets.

Yes, I just love that face
I am not quite sure what to expect from them at the moment. Amber and Boris are great pals and it only took 3 days for Amber to accept Boris, but Amber was only about a year old and Boris was a young kitten. Bob is not neutered yet, so this may be a problem until he gets neutered. However, we did bring Amber and Boris' scent over to his home and we brought his scent home with us on a piece of clothing that was left in his sleeping area for quite awhile. Since he will be coming to a new home and since this outdoor home would be new to Amber and Boris as well, they may get along rather well quite soon. In other words, there has not been any claiming of territory outside. However, I am not taking any chances. What I will do is this. First we will have the enclosure and then there will be a perimeter fence around the enclosure (sort of like an enclosure around the enclosure). I will let Amber and Boris go out in the perimeter area so there will be a fence between Bob and them. If there is going to be any trouble, they can growl, bark and hiss at each other all they want, but no one will get injured. The only time I will let Boris or Amber inside the enlcosure, is when I hear friendly bobcat talk between them. This perimeter fence will also prevent any unauthorized contact between unwanted guests and the cat. No one will be able to put there fingers or hands inside the enclosure, because the perimeter fence will be 3-4 feet away from the main enclosure. I will post pictures of this as well once it is built.

Hmmm, I did some checking and it seems you may be able to, if you get the proper permits. I did find it sad however, that you can raise them for their fur
As always I must caution you. Sharing your life with one of these cats is a lot of work. You must be willing to give up a lot of your time. Like going away on vacation or just for the weekend? Don't plan on it once you have an exotic cat in your life. Those days are gone, unless you have someone very responsible that you can trust and that the cat can trust to care for it. I am not saying that you shouldn't own one, I just want everyone who even thinks of it, to know exactly what they are getting themselves into, so there are no mistakes. We have been doing this now for a couple years and let me tell you, we are still learning and there is still a lot for us to learn. My wife and I completed an exotic feline husbandry course a few weeks ago. I hope to one day be accredited by the FCF
Feline Conservation Federation
You and Terri are wonderful people and do a fabulous job with these animals. My hat is off to both of you.
Thank you very much. It makes us feel good to hear this. We try so very hard to promote RESPONSIBLE exotic cat ownership.
I also want to thank all of you for the name ideas. I will show these to my wife to see which ones she likes as well.
We also need to see more pictures of Aurora and your other felines. Bring em on!
Your wish has been granted

Tommyboy says hey, all this picture taking makes me tired

Another of Tommyboy. I know, he is plump. We are trying to get him to drop a few pounds with no luck at the moment. He is 20 pounds by the way.

Lil Roar says come on, kiss me

Aurora caught in the act...again

I don't vacation now! lol
I'm paranoid about petsitters. I have parrots, and not many people completely understand birds, or their needs, therefore, I just don't go anywhere

I do know that our vet is an avid lover of bobcats and would also love to share her life with one, but she's also better qualified than I to get the permits.

I will just remain jealous, at least until we have a house instead of this condo

Such gorgeous kitties.
