I agree, although Tania, your idea of a letter is even better because you can take the time to really think about what it is you want to tell her and you wouldn't run the risk of being interupted.

BTW, I'm so glad she did call you cause you have got to be the best when it comes to kittens.

Tania I find what you are doing so awe inspiring. So glad you have the kitties home with you now.
Going to be following your thread, even if I don't post replies (due to not being able to say anything useful). You must seem like their fairy godmother to them. Can't wait to see pictures of them and hear how they are doing.

I am so happy that you have the kittens and they are ok now. I can't believe someone who actually takes care of animals for a living couldn't or wouldn't see their condition. Thank goodness you are there for them, you really are an angel.

I just looked at the pics, what an overdose of cute! Now I really don't understand how they were so neglected. How could anyone not take care of something so precious?

Writing a letter is a good idea, are you sending one to the vet she works for, too, just to let him/her know what kind of care is happening in the office?

I'm not sure Brenda, on one hand she needs a reality check and on the other, I don't want to be responsible for her losing her job.

Oh yeah, I forgot. They've got ear mites too. They were also covered head to paws in flea dirt but the vet nurse did remember to put some flea meds on them. I'm thankful for that, I guess.

Tania, I guess I'm speaking more boldly than I actually am. It's very easy for me to sit back and say she should be confronted or reported. But if I was in your place, I agree with you that it would be very difficult to possibly cause someone to lose her job, even if she deserves it. Although it would be great to prevent this from occurring again, these sweet babies are the main priority now, and I feel that you are quite heroic!

I am just reading this after seeing the pictures in the furr forum - I am so sorry that those wee darlings had to suffer but I am so glad that you were there for them and that they have a better lease on life thanks to you Tania!

It is really wonderful that there are people like you to help kitties in need - there are just not enough people like you in the world!

Bless you for having such a big heart!

Those babies are adorable! The thought of them lying there starving in the "care" of this person just makes me sick.

Anyone working in the pet care business who could be so cold, uncaring and neglectful to these babies really doesn't deserve to keep her job. She's obviously in the wrong business.
Why couldn't she take them to work with her?

Thank you for taking such good care of those little sweeties!

but I'd personally look at it this way, if she's doing this to orphaned kittens, what the he!! is she doing to peoples pets when noone else is around??? but that's just my opinion.
Oh yeah, as far as the letter, she being the stupid person she is, might just end up throwing it away instead of reading it all. maybe if you're going to do that, you can write it to her boss so he can see what kind of staff he has working for him first before she reads it.

Tania, I have to agree with the others about letting someone know about her actions. She obviously doesn't realize that she is hurting these poor babies more than she is helping them. At least the woman had brains enough to call for additional help....we all know what would have happened if she didn't. I just hope that she doesn't decide to take any more kittens under her personal care. As for being worried about her losing her job, I wouldn't be worried at all. Just the thought of her having a "good reputation" with in the vet practice is frightening to me. People are probably trusting her to take wonderful care in their pets and she's giving them only the bare minimum (if that!) care.
Regardless of what you choose to do about this woman, I give you a huge pat on the back for giving these babies a new start at life! Bless your heart Tania!

The kittens are adorable. Way to go, coming to their rescue like that.

I hope they "reward" you by thriving!

Way to go!!!

Just out of curiousity...what are you going to do with the kittens when they are healthy and ready to be adopted out? Do you have a certain way you go about the adoptions of orphaned babies? I would love to get into kitten care but I would be afraid I couldn't find homes for them and would wind up accumulating too many cats.

Againn, way to go! They are very cute and lucky babies to be in your care!!

The veggie babies are doing very well - feeding well and toiletting as they should. All three love to purr and Sweetpotato, in her haste to drink at one of the feeds, yanked the teat off the bottle and proceeded to suck on it LOL. I had to pry it out of her mouth, even after I had cleaned her and I up from the formula going everywhere.

Carrots has gained 22 grams, Pumpkin has gained 12 grams and Sweetpotato has gained a whopping 33 grams!

Thankyou all so much for your words of encouragement.

Ginger, amazingly, I haven't had much trouble finding homes for the kittens. I've had over 50 just this season and I think word has spread about what great cats hand-reared kittens grow into. There is also a vet nearby who has a cat rehoming service. It's basically a small no-kill organisation where they choose which cats/kittens they accept and rehome. I have an arrangement with them to take any kittens I can't find homes for. They don't take many kittens because the one other (kill) shelter in Perth is full of kittens during kitten season but will accept kittens from me as they're always healthy and find homes quickly.

You do amazing work with kittens! After reading the original description of these kittens, I expected to see them laying in the towel too weak to move! It was great to see them squeeking at the camera!

Sandy, I was saying in the pics forum that they were quite weak at first but it's amazing how some fluids, electrolytes, formula and cuddles can perk them up.

Those little kittens are so sweet. I am full of deep admiration for you and the work you do Tania. I know it is not always easy for you. The great thing is you have sympathy without sentimentality which is a hard line to walk.
By the way - how do you tell them apart, they look the same to me - all fluffy and ginger and little.

Alexis, Carrots' ginger colouring is slightly darker than Pumpkins and Pumpkin also has two lighter paws and a bit of white on his chest. Sweetpotato is easy, she is a lot smaller than the boys.
