The kittens should be okay at 70 degrees with mom in the box, and at 70 degrees with the heating pad on low under the blanket when mom is out of the box. You should not need to put the heat up to 75.

I think they are so cute and Its hard because I want to hold them so bad but I know I probably shouldn't handle them too much unless it's needed until they are a bit older. Mom is very protective of them also and I don't want to user her....Momma before the babies.

You are right to wait. I did not handle my kittens much until they began to leave the nest at 3 weeks old. I looked at them a lot though! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Thank you she's such an awesome mom. Hey. have another question. Yesterday at 10 am both weighed 127 grams today the Orange one weighed 139 grams and the black 150 grams the 12 grams is ok a day but is it normal for the black one to have gone up 23 grams in the last 24 hours?

It's normal. What a little piggy! The more weight gain the better. They have plateau days too once in a while where they don't gain much. Overall the curve needs to go up, and a plateau should not last long.

Ok great. Lol I know I couldn't believe it. We always see the Orange one pushing the black one off lol so we assume he (or she) wasn't eating much, well guess he's getting some in there sometime lol

I understand your confusion over this because we are always reading that litters are usually 4-6 kitties. And I thought so too but our cat had one baby last night. Just one. And mom and the baby are doing excellent. There really is no more in there although I was up all night checking because I couldn't believe it lol. I wish you well with your new addition :)

Thank you very much, yes it's been 4 days now and she seems to be doing fine has no high temp and is feeding the 2 and they are growing very well, almost 30 grams a day each, they are both almost to 200 grams at 4 days. Mom is doing good I just keep feeling because I think there are more lol. Then I read not sure what site but it said that a cat can have 2 separate litters from 2 separate matings and can deliver the first and the others can come out weeks down the road? is that even a thing?

Just an update on the babies. Both are gaining around 20 grams a day they ginger is 255 grams now and onyx is 272 grams. They are 8 days old today. Mom couldn't be more loving and couldn't take better care of them. She took them and tried to hide them in the other room the other day when it was storming and then again today I went in the bathroom and looked and seen 2 kittens sleeping in the clothes basket lol it's fixin to storm again today too so I think she gets a little worried but they are back in there nest with mom right now. They are the 2 new additions to the family as we are keeping them. We couldn't get rid of them.

Aww, how sweet of mama kitty to hide her babies from the storm. Glad they are healthy and gaining well. I don't blame you for keeping them! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Could someone tell.me how to post a new thread on here? I seem to have forgot how and can't figure it out. Or maybe I can just ask someone on this post as it does have to do with my kittens. They are a little over 2 weeks old and I noticed a little watery eyes. Is that normal in kittens? It's just clear and not gunky or anything like that

@desert82  Hi there, when I'm reading a thread, I see at the very bottom (of the last post on a thread, such as yours) a link to Start a New Thread.  Did you try that?  With your kittens, it's not normal for them to have watery eyes in my experience unless they have an upper respiratory infection.  A URI is common in kittens that come from a stray mom or kittens coming from a rescue group, even from a pet store purchase.  You'll know if it's a URI if the condition worsens, they start sneezing, etc.  I wouldn't wait to see if it worsens.  I have used colloidal silver with much success on rescued sickly kittens.  It's all natural and safe for humans and animals.  In case you are not familiar with it, it has natural antibiotic, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties.  It can be applied to a cotton ball and dripped into eyes.  It can be added to their food; it has virtually no taste or odor.  Unlike antibiotics, it won't destroy the good intestinal bacteria (which when antibiotics are done frequently will weaken the immune system).

Another remedy I use is a combination of three homeopathic remedies that my personal homeopath made for cats.  Used at the first sign of a problem, it has the majority of the time warded of infections.  In place of that, there is one remedy that can be used also at the first sign of a cold and for shock that, in most cases, will stop the cold in its tracks.  (Nothing is 100% all the time, not even allopathic medicine.)  Let me know if you're interested in these, as I don't want to put a lot of time into describing if you're not open to natural methods.  Someone else may have some information for you too.

Do keep using this thread, please!

How long ago did their eyes open? Are you seeing any sneezing in addition?
