I woke up 28 days ago to a strange Tom in my house mating with my female...I couldn't get him out the house. My female was rolling round flirting afterwards...eventually got him out with the hoover noise. She's nearly 2 never been in heat before then. Last week (day 21) her nipples looked a lot bigger and pinker (usually flat and white) no noticeable weight gain though I've made kitten food available at all times (though my fixed males tend to eat whatever's in the bowls) I will be taking her to the vet (told after 40 days for ultrasound)

Is she definitely pregnant? I've seen a lot about phantom pregnancies in cats. X

Yes, she is surely preg.

IF you have any plans on spaying anyway, do it ASAP.  Otherwise, just to prepare and wait to the oncoming delivery.   :)

Her behavior immediately after the mating shows a succesull mating - the rolling around, and the being friendly to the tom.

The reddening nipples on day 21 are typical.

Some cats has silent heats, humans dont notice them but toms do.

She is surely preg, even if theoretically it could be false pregnancy.

She is pregnant ...5w+1 day had an ultrasound today at least 3 kitten's! Not sure on xray in 2weeks as don't want to sedate her for the sake of knowing exact amount of kittens. Where do I get formula just incase as want to be prepared for all scenarios.

You should get a small scale to weigh in grams, kitten milk replacer (powdered by PetAg is great; avoid Hartz), and a small needleless syringe.  Walmart should carry all of these things, or you can get online.

I know you are planning to spay her this litter, which can be done 8 weeks after delivery.  Please figure out a way to block off however the tom cat entered your house.  As you've learned, cats can have silent heats or get pregnant without being in heat.

Dassia is on Day 59 of pregnancy....ultrasound showed at least 3 kittens...is day 65 when most deliver? I have KRM kitten bottles (just incase) I've made a large cosy whelping box. Kittens very active in her belly...also the dad is LONG haired black/dark brown coloured will their babies be black and some blue? (Done a kitten colour predictor) never been so excited and nervous in my life..

There is no set day that cats deliver. They go into labor when the kittens are ready and when their bodies are ready.

65 days is the average, which means half deliver before and half deliver after. My cat went 68 days. Some cats go 70 days. Your cat probably has 7-10 days left. She'll begin to show signs when she goes into labor.

Hang in there! It can be nerve-wracking, for sure!

It sounds like you're prepared!

Have you figured out a way to keep toms out in the future? Will you be spaying mom?

It may be the plug or part of it. The plug can be lost a few days ahead of actual labor.

It looks like a pile. It can't be wiped away and no liquid residue when gently wiped. Is this normal? Kittens active but think she's dropped
