I'm not sure. I've removed a couple of slats so I have some access from the top. But when I picked a kitten up she jumped up and didn't look happy. She's bitten number 5's I believe and number 6 is still attached

Fleece type pet blankies or towel/s to change after she's all done it's nice

to get a warm facecloth wash her tummy downstairs and legs just to freshen

her up ,when she's all done or following day if you can....I buy

the peepee pads for dogs from Dollar store use those for the first couple of weeks

easy to change from nest daily or every 2nd day. In time she will trust

you more  :) it's an all new experience for the both of you...

*just keep an eye open for remaining placenta/s....

How's it going?

In my book 'Emergency 1st Aid for Cats' it doesn't mention your predicament.  But it does say NOT to pull on the umbilical cord.  In the list of emergencies requiring veterinary care is failure to deliver within 30 minutes of continuous hard labour, or within 3 hours of intermittent labour, which you're over time now (as this is 3 hours later).  So, what's happened?

Updated:  Oh, I can see further comments that I missed and that all is well now, I'm very pleased and relieved for you all.  Congratulations.

Thankyou so much. I have no idea what happened. Only thing I could think was if they were sharing a placenta but that doesn't add up because of the placenta being in front of baby 5?
She's all done now 6 beautiful white babies. Haven't weighed or marked them yet will let mummy cat rest for a while. I did quickly weigh the third after it was born and that one was 110g and they all look a similar size so don't think that's a bad weight at all.

How are things now? Are all 6 kittens latching and nursing well? How's mom doing? Has she had food or water since having the kittens?

Thank you so much for sharing, I can imagine how you were feeling during the delivery, nothing seems to be 'normal' then does it. It almost sounds like you had several sets of twins. But you both came through fine and what a beautiful family! Being white means they will develop their 'points' when they are a little older, Please share what they end up looking like, they are all absolutely gorgeous!

Thankyou.
The babies all latched really quickly. And she has had a big lunch she was ravenous. When she got up I got a chance to weigh and mark the kittens. Smallest was 94g and the biggest was 121g the small one is the only one under 100g I can't tell if they've all managed to have a feed today or not do I intervene by putting them on the nipples or just leave it be for now and perhaps weigh again tomorrow and see how there doing? I don't want to upset mummy cat.
Also when can I move them? The bedding smells quite a bit and I have to sleep on my bed tonight [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You can change the bedding and move them anytime. Mom will re-settle with them.

Weigh the kittens at the same time each day in front of mom so she doesn't get upset. Keep an eye on the little one. There is usually a runt or two with 6 kittens. If they do not gain 6-10 grams per day minimum, you'll want to supplement.

Make sure mom has dry food, wet food, water and her litter box right nearby at all times for now so she doesn't have to go far to meet her needs.

Snow has come downstairs and got in front of the fire. She's been down here about twenty minutes is that normal? Should she be staying with the kittens?

It's normal for mom to take breaks while the kittens are sleeping.

You don't have any other pets in your house, right?

I do. I've got 2 dogs and two other ragdolls (dad and another female) at the minute they've been locked away in the kitchen. They can be outside if need be too. How long would benokay for her to spend away from them?
I panicked and brought the kittens down on their cover they were born on and mummy cat freaked out and tried picking them up so I rushed them strait back upstairs under my bed :/

Don't move the kittens around if they are safe. I asked about the other pets because you need to keep them away from the kittens.

Yeah, don't move the kittens.  Mum will only carry them back to her nest if you do, which will exhaust her and distress the kittens.  Could you close the door to the room of the nest and keep popping in to check on them?

I can and have been doing. None of my animals have access to my room which is good. But earlier she was sat behind the door waiting to come out for one reason or another and I was worried she might abandon them. Will she want to keep them under my bed long term then do you think?

If she feels they are safe there, she may leave them for 3 weeks until they are ready to begin exploring. Or she may choose to move them. Best to leave them where they are for now. Allow mom to take breaks from the kittens. She will go back to them!

The 3 with 10,8 10 are apparently OK, the others less so.

It depends on the exact circumstances, some single day off, is allowed, if the kitten is otherwise visibly thriving.  They are no automatos, everything considered.  But the last one -1, is potentially alarming, and also the 4 and 3 are really not enough.
