Yay! She seems pretty normal today, lying around and asking me for food. She'll barely eat her dry food unless I hand feed it to her which is weird because she keeps leading me to the kitchen to give her food so she must be hungry. I don't see any contractions yet but I doubt I'll even see them when they start because she's got really long hair and lately doesn't let me touch her often. The wait is so frustrating but I know it'll be worth it [emoji]9786[/emoji]

I haven't. Should I? Might she reject them? I'll get some just in case, thanks for the tip [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I'll read those, thanks again! You're great for dedicating so much time to help out people take care of their pets!

It's less a matter of rejection, and more that a runt may need supplementing. And mom will benefit from a dish a day to meet her calcium needs. It's worse to need milk in the middle of the night and have none. Get a 1-2mL needleless syringe as well. Vet will have it.

Get a can of powdered KMR by PetAg, GNC, or Royal Canin. Avoid Hartz brand. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I'll get on that! One thing that I'm scared about in birth is the umbilical cords. If she doesn't chew them off from the start, how long do I wait for her to do it before cutting it myself? I read that I may have to do it myself, I just wanna know how long to wait. I'm scared to hurt a kitten in the process though. As you can see it's my first time dealing with cat pregnancy so I'm stressing a bit, I want it to go smoothly for Cheetos and her kitties.

Poor thing, she's exhausted. She looks in pain. She's been in that place for two hours and keeps trying to sleep but can't seem to and ends up changing positions. I can see waves on her stomach and it feels like the kittens when they move but it's really, really stronger and I keep seeing them (usually I never see her kittens move because she's a longhair). I don't know if they're contractions but if it's just them moving I got myself some naughty kittens. [emoji]128517[/emoji]

Usually when we open the front door she runs and reaches it before you can even see her move, but now she just isn't paying attention. She's exhausted, I feel so bad for her. [emoji]128542[/emoji]

It sounds like she may be in labor or pre-labor. Can you be sure to keep her completely inside and away from intact males until the kittens are weaned?

Of course, she's never allowed outside anyway and she's our only cat. I'll make sure she's away from males (wouldn't want her getting pregnant again, especially not when she's still nursing). After they're weaned I'll get her spayed [emoji]9786[/emoji]

It sounds like she is laboring. Mom cats will usually chew the cord fairly quickly after the kitten is born and while they are cleaning the kitten and eating the placenta.

Sometimes kittens can come so quickly that mom has no time. In this case just pinch off the cord about an inch from the tummy. Most times mom handles it though.

Okay, thanks. She's a smart cat, I think it'll go smoothly overall, I just don't want anything bad happening to her.

She's definitely having contractions. She was walking and then stopped abruptly and I saw her stomach and sides moving weirdly. After it was over she kept walking. She's sniffing everywhere and kept sniffing near the door (probably smells the stray cat we feed sometimes). Other than that she's acting normally. She's drinking but won't eat. Fingers crossed!

She's also very jittery and getting startled every time someone moves. I think she's just stressed.

There's more discharge and her vulva is bigger and pinker than yesterday but she's so hairy I can't see the color of the discharge. It's either brown or white (not sure if the brown bit is leftover feces she couldn't clean up). She won't go into the nesting box we set up for her which is gonna make my mother mad at me but as long as Cheetos is comfy I don't really mind [emoji]128517[/emoji].

The discharge may have blood in it and look brownish or pinkish. This is normal.

If she births the kittens outside the nest, you can move them into the nest when she's done. And most cats do not use the nest until literally time to push.

Ohh, I see. She hasn't lost her mucus plug yet and isn't leaking milk so it's probably not tonight. I hope it's tomorrow or Saturday afternoon, I have nothing to do then. [emoji]128541[/emoji]

I've been keeping an eye on her all day and I'll continue to do so!
Tomorrow I'm going to the pet store to get stuff for her and the kitties (KMR and extra food) and the store is far so I'm gonna try my best to get everything needed to keep them healthy for the next few weeks. I put my guess at 4 or 5 kittens, how much KMR should I be getting for them?

Oh and it's probably a stupid question but are they fed KMR using a bottle or a syringe? (Asking so I'd know what to buy) And should I feed Cheetos KMR as well?

Mom gets a dish of KMR a day to meet her calcium needs. You can pick up a kitten bottle to have on hand, but if you have to supplement a newborn, you'll need a 1-2 mL needleless syringe, which the vet or a pharmacy will have.

Start with one large can of powdered KMR by PetAg, GNC, or Royal Canin. Refrigerate after opening. I know you're in the Middle East, so if those brands are not available, get something comparable.

It's good you are getting prepared!

Thanks for the help! I'll write that down.

I know Persians usually have more complications with birth because of the skull size so I get paranoid and I want to be prepared to help. Here's hoping she gives birth while I'm home!
