its kind of warm here. I still have the AC on but the cats are outside enjoying the cooler temps. Even Pumpkin face came in a few times which was surprising. Its hazy clouds and sun. I guess we are supposed to get rain tomorrow but its all going to be south of me. I still havent watered the garden due to the drought. If we would get a few inches of rain that would be great! But I wont be using up water incase we really need it this winter. I use the watering can to water the pots and thats it.

We got some rain, just in time for me to leave the grocery store. It was a very light rain and was done less than five minutes later. We had tons of rain last weekend - one town got totally flooded. Too bad we can't transport some of that to all the drought places.

I wish you could, too!  This is year 5 of the drought for us.

It sounds like a thunderstorm is brewing.
The hot weather must be contacting some cooler air I suppose.

lol, just noticed the poll! But it only offers two options: love it or hate it.
Mm, that's a problem here. We have every kind of weather, all mixed up.
Some you love, some you don't! Overall though, it could be worse.
And it has its moments. There's stuff you get used to, and making the best of it can be enjoyable.

Was 98 degrees out. Ac is cranking. I'm depressed and feel cruddy. I need some cool weather.
Yea, I had to open a window briefly today and it was like opening an oven door, the blast of hot air on my face, yikes.

Maybe try a cold shower. As cold as you can stand. It will bring your body temperature down and you'll feel a lot better
(so long as you don't do anything strenuous afterwards). Maybe just go sit still and relax and enjoy it. Put something
funny on the TV. Laughter always helps me when I feel blah.

...with the cats...
it's very hot here right now, 88 degrees F. earlier today it got very hot too, but then we got some medium rain for...not long enough. it's forecast to rain a heck of a lot tomorrow and tomorrow night, but i'll wait and see if that ends up happening. it's been that way all summer here, we're forecast to get rain or cool down to reasonable temperatures and it doesn't happen.

Awful, nasty, horrid. Simply horrid. The humidity is killing us. The cats just lie around; The Beast spends her time on the kitchen floor....it's cooler there. We are supposed to get t-storms today, but the 90s are going to be with us til Monday, when the temps goes "down" into the upper 80s for a few days. Our nighttime temps are even in the 70s, which is ridiculous.

Same where I am.

Temp is current 80. It's 7:22 am

I have to run out to p/u my market box at 8:00 but after that, I'm hibernating at home. Good thing I can get a lot of essentials at that farm!

It is so yucky out side. The temp is 69 degrees with the humidity the exact same temperature.. that makes in unbearably uncomfortable----damp...

I hate this type of weather. I either freeze from cranking up the AC to get the humidity out, or everything turns limp in here from the dampness.. You cannot win. I dread going outside. Cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms also....

yuck

It is hot, very hot, very humid. I am so ready for cooler weather. We will soon start getting some northeast winds, which will cool things down. The problem is these winds will wash mosquito eggs out of the salt marshes and we will get bombarded with mosquitoes. When that happens, hubby has a rig he pulls behind the mower and sprays for mosquitoes in our yard. The county used to do it, but I think they have quit. We don't spray in the fence enclosure where the cat is sometimes.

Heat index of 107 F today, and VERY humid. It's been like this for 3 days, and Sunday is supposed to be even worse--and no working A/C (see my thread about that fun little adventure for more complaining, LOL). My tile floors are soaking wet, and the microfiber sofa actually is very wet along the edges of the seat cushions, and the bottom edge. I have never seen that before! I'm worried about my furniture mildewing, and the food in the pantry rotting. During a recent heat wave a few weeks ago, the garlic started stinking, and, for the first time since we lived here, the pantry was warm.

Hot 80F, dry with 50% humidity, clear with not a cloud in the sky, wind at ca.10mph. I hate to brag but that is the climate (we don't call this "weather") in SoCal. Of course we whine that we are freezing when it dips under 50 and most people stay home when it rains if they can do so because they don't know how to drive in that. And forget about snow, it never happens.

Now when I lived in Fort Worth, Texas - that was a totally different story. Temps 100+, humidity at 98%, not a breath of air and more and bigger bugs than you have ever seen - ugh!

One would think somebody could come up with a dehumidifier that does not add heat for conditions like yours. About all you can do is put all food that is not in cans into the fridge, that's what I did when I lived in Central Texas. We had no AC then but the fans were running all the time, that will help with your wet furniture, wrapping the cushions in cotton sheets or blankets to soak up the water will help, you can change those whenever they feel damp again and put tem in the dryer.

There ARE dehumidifiers that don't heat. Just Google for them. They collect the water in a container and you have to empty it, depending on the volume of the unit.

Thanks for the suggestions! However, we just found out that we have to buy a new HVAC system.

I was thinking that just the motor itself would add heat to the room. When it's already hot you don't want even a tiny amount of heat being generated no matter how much water the dehumidifier removes from the air. I have one but it is of no use on a hot muggy day, however when it is cold and damp it works really well. When water came in through the window because it was running down the wall during a rain storm due to a plugged up gutter and wet my carpet it was great to have the humidifier to help dry up the carpet but it was chilly outside so the heat generated by the humidifier was no big deal.

Sounds exactly like Connecticut weather. I walk for 2 hours a day & my walks have been horrendous. The ground-level ozone combined with high humidity makes me feel I'm in a steam bath. Come home wringing wet.
