I agree with you. She may or may not get back what she lost during the spell she was deprived. She may be "slow", but she deserves a good loving home too, bless her little heart. And so she needs the taurine for sure!

Let me know what your other vet says tomorrow. I think it's pretty basic that a vet should know that puppy and kitten formulas are different because their needs are different.

Actually the Esbilac puppy milk POWDER does have taurine in it too, but perhaps my ingredients list for the liquid Esbilac, is outdated because I dont see taurine in that one.  My old Esbilac ingredient list does have a breakdown of protein/fat/fiber/calories and none of my other lists do.  Protein 4.5%, Fat 6.0%, Fiber 0.0%, Moisture 85.0%, Calories 820kcal/kg or 12.3 kcal/tbs.  I used Esbilac instead of KMR for baby squirrels because the vet said it was a better formulation for them than KMR.  I think the vet said it had more fat  in it.  The squirrels were many years ago so things may have changed.

I just checked Chewy.com's ingredient list for the KMR and it isn't up to date either, because I just got powdered KMR last month and it has some probiotics in it now, but the ingredients given in Chewy's web site do not include the probiotics.  I do remember in the old days we always had to give the kittens Bene-Bac to add probiotics to the liquid.  I'm pretty sure the powdered KMR you have now includes the probiotics.  I noticed that it did a great job for the last orphan I just raised from 10 days to 7 weeks using it.  (He has gone to his forever home now.)  I'd definitely recommend the new KMR powder.

She studied the ingredients in the liquid version that she was given, and taurine was not on the list. Therefore she chose the powdered KMR.

Thank you though, for weighing in.

Yeah I wondered that so once I was notified they needed the taurine I checked the ingredient list on the can and it was not listed so I opted to give it to the dog because the white one is going to need all the brain help she can get. I'm assuming I have the new kmr powder, and shouldn't have to add anything to it if I read correctly. But that's interesting on the squirells, I have a good friend who is notorious for taking in infant squirrels and racoons so she may benefit from that!

The new KMR powder for kittens definitely has the taurine, and has for quite some time. You can rest easy!

I hope the little one is doing well, and I'm actually glad you said you were given liquid, because it brought up the whole subject. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I swear I can't win for losing over here! I had the white one eating relatively well and she was making noise and moving a bit more yesterday I thought things were finally looking up for her , just to have her tank this morning. She has diarrhea, barely eating, lost weight and is at 4.15, and basically a limp noodle. I started feeding every 1/2 as much as I can get her to drink but I don't think it's helping. I called vet and basically got told there's nothing they can do to help her and to just "keep doing what I'm doing". I give kudos to you guys who can do this cause I'm a blubbering mess. I was so hoping I'd be able to get her to pull through [emoji]128532[/emoji]

Yes, try to stay calm. You may lose her, but you are doing every single thing you can.

Mix the formula with clear pedialyte instead of water. Put honey on her gums. Go see the other vet and ask for sub-q fluids and an antibiotic for the diarrhea - now!

Did you give her any of the puppy formula before we clarified things for you?

I did call both vets and both had almost the exact same answer that I'm pretty much sol and on my own because there nothing much they can really do. And no I did not give either of them any of the puppy replacer. I still had powdered mixed up that I was gonna finish first than do the liquid. Ill try the straight pedialyte and formula right away. Ive been getting as much milk down her in hopes I can get on top of it. It was so sudden that she tanked and I don't even know how.

How about taking her to an emergency vet. They have to see her. She needs fluids and probably medicine. I don't understand why either of those vets can't do anything. In fact, one just told you yesterday she was fine.

Just feeding her may not be doing enough at this point.

How's the diarrhea? What color is it?

I talked with my husband and going to an emergency vet is too much for us to afford at the moment. I'm confused on it too, but my options are limited unfortunately and I have to make due with what I am able too. As for the diarrhea it seems to be getting better it's not as liquidy as it was but it's not toothpaste consistency either. The color is an orange brown. I've been feeding her every hour, and I'm actually force feeding her. I put a couple drops in her mouth and wait for a swallow and do some more. She's not getting everything I give (around 2.5ml) but I'd say she's getting half or better. On the plus side I was wiping her up and she was controlling her head and not letting it flop completely back so that was progress. I'm debating on how to go about feeding her tonight. Id love to keep doing the every hour but I don't known if I have the stamina but worried about it not being enough to do 2-3 hrs. My parents have a cat that is due any day now and I'm hoping she goes tonight and than we'll try and get mom to nurse her. But with the issues she's having I don't have high hopes that will work.

Okay, I understand. Orange poop is indicative of too much bile in the system. She may have giardia or coccidia. Either way, can you request an antibiotic from the vet for her? They should be willing to give you Clavamox if you ask for it.

Also, sprinkle a tiny bit of a probiotic into her formula to help with the flora balance.

Feed her every 2 hours tonight so you can get some sleep.

Is there a specific probiotic I should get, or is it just a general probiotic? Ill call the vet and ask for clavamox, I'm hoping they may still be open so my husband can swing by and get it tonight yet.

Any people probiotic will work that's in a capsule that you can open and sprinkle.

I hope they'll give you the clavamox.

No luck on contacting vet tonight so I'm calling in the morning. I just got done with another feed and I got close to 5 ml. But the poo is now more on the yellow side, and if what I read was correct from Google she needs antibiotics. Seriously thank you for the support and help, a simple thank you isn't enough for everything but please know how much I appreciate it!

It's my pleasure to help. Yes, yellow poop needs antibiotics too. It's either coccidia or a bacterial infection. She desperately needs medicine. I'm so glad you got that much into her! I'm really rooting for her right along with you!

She made it through the night but I'm having to wake her up to feed. She's still got diarrhea but it's not as frequent as it was and she is peeing. I got a weight on her this morning and she was 4.35 oz so she gained what she lost back and then some. I haven't called vet yet but will here soon.
