Hello,

I have a question to anyone with a bit of knowledge on cat food. I had the blood allergy test done on my cat and it came back saying she had high allergies to Chicken, peas, corn, yeast and turkey. They gave a list of 2 foods that do not contain these ingredients, both canned foods that are really expensive and not reasonable on my college budget. I am looking for a dry food with at least the first 3 ingredients gone and I am wondering if people know of any good ones to try. She hates the cat food that looks like rabbit food (blue buffalo) and prefers it to be the multi-mix style. Chicken, pea and corn had the highest allergy rating, turkey and yeast came in with a low level rating so emphasis on the first 3. Thank you for your time.

You're not crazy. Hecate is allergic to fish. Apparently, all fish. I had to spend time hunting for foods that contain no fish. You could hunt around on Chewy.com. They list the ingredients to all the foods they sell. Or, you could look into the freeze dried stuff. Like Primal. Limited ingredients foods are pricier, but, just like a kid with allergies, you have to do what's best for the cat.

What brands of food are on the list the vet gave you?

Here are some threads about commercial limited ingredient foods you could try:

Some brands:

Nature's Variety Instinct Limited Ingredients

Merrick Limited Ingredient

Blue Buffalo Basics

You may also want to consider feeding a novel protein like vension or bison. Cats who have allergies / sensitivities to chicken and other common proteins can sometimes handle a novel protein just fine. I can promise you cats do not care about the shape of their kibble, but instead the flavor. Multi mix shape types tend to be low quality and are sprayed with additives that are addictive.
I don't recommend dry food for any cat, so I don't have a recommendation there, but there are plenty of wet foods without those ingredients: Soulistic, Nature's Variety and wellness are three I can think of. Also if you feed raw, you wouldn't have to worry about any of those things.
