Well, it's Friday the 13th for all those who may be superstitious! Wondering if this is why no one has posted on the Babbling thread in 8 hours? Just kidding!

I'm not superstitious though. Who out there is?

Looks like a quiet night....woke up to a fuzzy kitty on my chest this morning--licks and purrs=the dish was OMG empty!

They have another dish in the kitchen-which was half full..but they push the food out of the middle to make it look empty. I scoop the food in my hand and make a mound of dry kibble in the middle=and say haha your dish is full already.

The leaves are finally opening on some plants. ANd need more rain-its been so dry-don't want to pay for my water to water the plants. The daffadils are nice and open with a weird scent.

the cats are doing good-pumpkin goes for her laser treatment tonight-which I almost forgot about! Babble on!

Friday 13th hasn't been too bad for me SO far.  I got an unexpected invite to go to a friend's for lunch and spent the afternoon chatting and laughing at her indoor outdoor cat constantly wanting let in/out.
Mouse seems to have been asleep most of the day and continuing to do so for the evening so all is quiet here.

@Donutte  I hope you feel a bit brighter and managed not to loose anything else.  Days like that are horrid.  It sounds like you are making some major decisions and that can be very tiring, but once you find a way to get on to your changed path your life could be transformed in amazing ways.   Loosing loved ones does change you and it's hard to predict how.    I completely changed my working life a couple of years ago:  it was very scary, but while I have a lot less money my life is immeasurably richer and no regrets.

Friday the 13th!
My favorite Friday!  Don't know why, but I like Friday the 13th.  AND I have two black cats.  Hmmm, wonder if there's a witch somewhere in my lineage?  Guess maybe I'd better do that genetic testing.  Wonder if it would show anything.  My mother used to get dreams about people when things were about to happen.  Hmmmmm

Friday the 13th, huh? I wonder if that's why AWM's having such a bad week... (She works for Uber, and they lost her insurance information due to a glitch and has just been having a really bad week here.) On the upside, we found  a weedwacker! Dandelions, you have breathed your last!!! Mwahahahahhahahahahahahaha! Ahem. Sorry. It's difficult to clip them with pruning shears because you have to get to the ground, close to the roots so that not only are the dandelions falling on you, but everything that calls that group of weeds home is trying to defend it.

Happy Friday the 13th! If you have a black (or not black!) cat, make sure to give them a head rub for good luck :kitty2: Extra head rubs for all my little ones today!

Today has been a better day, for sure. Have been putting together my plans for the major life changes that I'm anticipating (just ready for something different in life). In the meantime, applied for a position with a pet sitting service. Just for part-time work on the side for now. Ease my way into a career more animal-focused. Also considering being an entrepreneur at this point. Lotsa research ahead of me the next few weeks! Of course, need to find people willing to do some pro-bono work for awhile. Yeah, that will be fun!

Sugar is 1/2 of the way done with her anti-inflammatory pills :woo: and 1/4 of the way done with her antibiotic :woohoo: Seriously, you would think I'd gotten used to it. I got un-used to it VERY quickly!

Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. More than I should be. Felt soooo good to sleep this morning, then my stupid alarm had to go and ruin it.

Congrats on your cat getting back into good health! (None of our kitties are black, but they get head rubs anyway.)

Nothing serious or bad, @Tallyollyopia  :) Just that it  was like "what if Murphy's Law were a day?" Something like that
Anything that could go wrong, went wrong! I don't think it was a Friday the 13th thing.. The whole week has been like this
So, I'm just hanging in there, waiting for this week to pass and never come back..!

Hi there @GrizzlySapien.
I haven't seen you around on site recently - how's Grizzly doing?   Still a gorgeous bundle of mischief?

@Donutte    Being an entrepeneur sounds good, but isn't it pretty hard work?   Lots of ideas?   Good for you!
I think I like lazing about with Mouse too much to make it big.

I'm not superstitious but I did have two little fishies die today.

I'm sorry, but I'm on the side of the dandelions. I love dandelion jelly, dandelion salve and dandelion wine. My kids invite me over for dandelion picking. It's nice when the grandkids help because they are closer to the ground. They make excellent dandelion pickers.

I love dandelions. But this is probably because I live in the forest and prefer the natural look to a lawn. To me a free growing field is so much more beautiful than a manicured lawn.

I'm on your side. We live in the woods too without much grass or dandelions. That's why I have to pick them at my kids houses. They have so many health benefits that I feel guilty if I kill one. Have you ever eaten dandelion greens?

I have.  I find them to be a bit too green for me on the whole. We make nettle tea here sometimes.

Okay, there is a big difference between the little three or four inch dandelions that grow in most yards and the almost four feet tall stalks that have been invading ours. (Honestly, I'm not entirely certain that google is right about them being dandelions--maybe they crossbred with another species?) Secondly--we're not killing the roots, just chopping down stalks. (I have no idea how to harvest dandelion root, and I've never heard of dandelion jelly--just saying. On the other hand, I have similar feelings to chopping down blackberry vines.)

I only like the baby ones that come up in spring. The summer and larger ones are very bitter. I love nettle tea. Do you pick the nettles yourself?

I think what you have growing is salsify. I find it occasionally around my house. It looks like a giant dandelion except the flower doesn't open as much as a dandelion and doesn't have petals as dense as it either. You can peel, cook and eat the roots. Also the bottom 6 inches or so of the leaves. The root flavor has been compared to oysters or artichoke. The leaves flavor has been compared to leeks. I've never tried them, so I can't tell you if they really do have those flavors or not. But hey, you just might have found a new free food source!

Yeah. We pick them ourselves. They grow about three feet from the back porch. Great tea for a sore throat.

Friday the 13th, huh?  Well, yes, I am superstitious.  It is my superstitious belief that when a family member is taking an airplane somewhere, they won't crash as long as I'm there to watch the plane take off.  This obviously works, as I've never seen a plane crash on takeoff, except on TV, which doesn't count.  (Okay, yes, I do know better.  I just prefer to say goodbye at the last possible minute.)

What I'm really superstitious about is the Denver Broncos.  Any time I watch them play, they lose.  Therefore, I'm very careful never to watch the Super Bowl when the Broncos are playing.  I trust that someone will put all the really good ads on YouTube, which is the real thing I generally watch the Super Bowl for.

As for Friday the 13th, I kind of like the attitude in the old "Pogo" comic strip, where one character (Pogo? not sure) thought that it was really dangerous on those "unnatural" occasions (six months out of seven
) that Friday the 13th falls on some day other than Friday.

So far I've had a very fortunate month.  First I got a notice that Caseen (makers of the best screen protectors and styluses on the market, in my opinion) was holding a drawing for a new smart phone case and I was eligible to enter.  I figured that, even though I already had a case for my Moto G, I could find some other use for the Caseen case, and besides, it had cats on it, so I entered, selecting the "Nerd Cats" case. http://caseen.com/3262-thickbox_01prem/linda-smartphone-clutch-wristlet-wallet-case.jpg.  Then I got a notice from TextNow (my cell phone company) that I could upgrade to a second generation Moto E for $5.00.  This counts as an upgrade primarily because, unlike the Moto G, the Moto E accepts a 32 gig microSD card.  Naturally, I jumped at it, especially since I don't have to turn in the Moto G and can still use it as a camera, while putting as many apps as I want on the new phone.  Then I received notification that I had won the drawing for a new smart phone case, which means I won't have to buy another because the Moto G case wouldn't fit the Moto E.  And then I got an email saying I could get a 32 gig microSD card at Office Depot for $17 and change.

I never win things like the lottery, because I don't gamble, so it's rather a big deal when I win a drawing that didn't require anything but entering.  And, incidentally, I'm very pleased with TextNow.  I pay less than $20 a month for service, and have unlimited data as long as I can do it via Wifi.
