I'm sorry I'm just answering. We had a loss. She only bled for a day like this. Maybe two at the most.

Oh OK. I'm sorry, I'm still learning this site and I miss things a good bit. Also, I just recently started using the full site instead of mobile which has thrown me off yet again. Ill answer posts I believe are new and they'll be days past. Lol... I'm very much trying!

my 2 Mommas are So skinny. I feed them wet kitten food like 4-5 times a day, always have kibble out, fresh water, etc. I offer KMR, I mix it into their food, and give them handsful of  treats.   Is there anything else I can be doing?  Sometimes they don't finish their  wet food, and I have to throw it out before I offer fresh.

Also, Naomi is still having a slightly  bloody discharge. More like a very light brown nearly translucent-  should I be concerned? She's acting just fine- eating, drinking, pooping,  playing, nursing etc.    I think someone suggested it could last up to a week?

I'm not worried about, more like curious.

It sounds like the discharge is drying up. It sounds normal. It's a healing process.

Your cats are skinny from nursing so much. Since you're offering them food all the time, the only thing I can think is the high calorie Nutrical paste, or high calorie A/D food from the vet. You could call and ask about those.

I'll ask, but they don't like taht food. lol

Is there anything "extra" I can cook for them that they'd lie and would help?

They need some fat for the calories. Try mixing in cooled bacon grease into their wet food.
I do not recommend bacon grease for several reasons, including a high risk of GI upset for both moms and babies.

Nutri-Cal, cooked eggs or even some goat's milk might help give them some extra nutrition.

You can also look for calorie dense foods. For some brands, one flavor may have quite a few more/less calories than another.

For ex, my cats eat Wellness CORE. The Turkey/Duck has 188 kcals per 5.5 oz, while the Chicken/Turkey has 218.

Same as above, I agree with no bacon grease.

I always added KMR to my scrambled eggs for my babies. I made it a little soupy so they would get enough liquid. I also found that my babies liked boiled eggs better than scrambled, again I mixed in KMR.

We do scrambled eggs all the time in the shelter for the kittens (and on rare occasions adults.. but they are all weaned by the time they are in the shelter) when they are struggling to gain weight or aren't interested in the food. In two years I have never noticed any GI upset with this. It is also very easy to eat for kittens that were quickly weaned for whatever reason and the smell drawls them in.

Nutrical paste is great as well to mix into soft food, but we usually try to get them to eat food before adding supplements so they are getting proper nutrition and not just calories. In your case, I would say that it would be great to add a little strip to each thing of soft food. Some will even like to lick it directly from the tube!

ok, so I'm going to the farm down the road for eggs, the store for nutrical, and the liquor store for a bottle of white wine.

Wow. Just read this thread. Make sure, after the kitty has given birth, that immediately the kittens are warm. This is CRUCIAL, some momma kitty's wont allow their kittens to suck and alot of times the kittens annoy her until she gets up and walks away, keeping them warm is probably the most important thing to do immediately after the birth.

Here are some good ways to create warmth.

•purchase a heating pad
•Socks stuffed with (uncooked) rice, and heated up in the microwave.
•raise the thermostat
•water bottles filled with WARM, not hot, water.

Good luck to you and your kitty!

Having 15 kittens from 3 litters in my house (which includes the one litter of 8), I totally agree that the wine is necessary on most nights! They keep you on your toes!

I stopped by my shelter and got 2 tubes of nutrical and some more KMR- I scrambled up an egg with some KMR in it, added some KMR and kitten food to a plate ,and let them chow down.  I'll do this a few times a day
