I've had excellent results with Purina One Kitten food. It's not much more expensive than Kitten Chow, see if you can manage it the next time you need to buy new food. The kittens will do well on it too---it has very small kibbles. Kittens eat a ton so start getting the food now if you think finances will be a concern when they're older. Every time I raise a litter I think I'll go broke trying to keep them fed! :lol3:

If she'll eat canned Friskies, that will be a lot more affordable than Fancy Feast. Cats eat so much in late pregnancy and while nursing that any price reduction will help.

She will eat Friskies but the problem is she wont eat left over food even if warmed up. I am thinking of buying a few extra cans here and there for when the kittens start eating. I am getting so excited thinking of Easter getting here. If they aren't here that day it will be that week. I bought some puppy pads the other day and will buy more today. I am going to do two boxes one for upstairs and one for down. I just look forward to the new little lives.

At some point she will probably be eating the entire 5.5-oz can---it's amazing how much a nursing mama needs to eat! Plus of course the babies can eat the rest of the can when they start on solids. So, yeah, getting a few cans wouldn't be a bad idea.

I just bought her one container of the fresh pet food and she turned her nose up to it. SMH I was so excited to give it to her since she likes chicken so much. Today she hasn't eaten much at all. The only thing I know is this Cat has me scratching my head all the time.

Cats can be very picky! I have 5 cats, and only one of them will eat just about anything. The other 5 only like certain varieties of wet food. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

My cat is due any day and I started feeling the kittens and seeing them move about 2 weeks ago , my 3 cats are fussy eaters to and will only eat gravy food in pouches not all brands though only certain ones .

I set up two nesting places today. I have noticed for the last week she has been sleeping in a drawer in my kids room. So I moved the clothes out and but in an old sweeter and I put a baby blanket on top then a puppy pad. In the same room I have a big box with a baby blanket and puppy pad. She has carefully smelled and inspected both places. Then looked up at me and meowed and gave me a kiss. She was thanking me I think. She also laid down in the box. Does that mean she has accepted them as possible places or should I try to set up a few more just in case.

Aww how sweet , I'm no expert but my cat didn't really nest even though I set her up a comfy box ... She went into labour and chose to have them on the sofa and when she had them I transferred them all to the nesting box and she was happy , but your doing the right things and if she's going in the places you've set up I'm sure she's chose her spot :)

I am so excited I felt babies move last night. From her last heat she was seven weeks yesterday. Do you calculate due date from heat or the day she got out.

Count from the day she got out. She cannot conceive without mating, the act of which stimulates her ovaries to produce eggs. And because cats can mate multiple times over several days, you'll need to allow a few days' leeway on the delivery side - unless she was only out for one day. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

She was only out for that day and it was January 25th.

In that case, I count the first day as January 26th, as it takes 24 hours for conception to occur. Your cat will be 7 weeks on Tuesday, March 15th. She's due at the very end of the month, or possibly around the beginning of April. Average cat gestation is 65 days. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

OK thank you so much. If its not to early I would love to see her to have them on the 30th. That is my oldest son's birthday. But either way I am so excited.

I know its not known what the kittens will look like but her mom was a black cat. What are the chances for their to be at least one that will be black like grandma. I want a little black kitten so bad.

Hard to say the chances since you don't know who the dad is. It will depend on the mix of dominant and recessive genes. I believe the stray tabby I adopted mated with a long-haired black tuxedo cat who was in the neighborhood. I got a long-haired grey tuxedo, a short-haired orange and white tabby, a long-haired solid black, and a medium-haired tabby who looked like mom! Very mixed bag! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I don't know for sure which of the three got to her. But the three that was hanging around at the time was one a solid gray that was beautiful. A solid gray that kinda looked like a Scottish fold. His ears were folded down. Then the other one was a gorgeous Tabby he is silver and black with big green eyes. I have feed him a few times and his eyes looks like he has eye liner on.

Something I have notice in the last few days is she has been trying to get outside again. If the door is opened for more than a few seconds she darts outside to a bush.

It's her hormones and instincts. She probably wants to go out and seek a nesting place. It's very important to keep her in now.

Your cat may have mated with one, two, or all of the neighborhood males you described, so you could get a smorgasboard of kittens! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Another question and I will leave everyone alone for a day or two. Maybe. Is it safe to have her dewormed at this point in her pregnancy. Or should I wait until the kittens are born and get them all done together.
