LOL that is so sweet!!! Jason says I am not allowed to keep trying to figure this out. The only fact that I know for certainty is when I first felt the little bumps in her belly. Not movement just the bumps. That was January 3rd. I confirmed it with my best friend who says that is when I sent her the text. She came to my house on the 6th of January and felt them herself. Sooooooooo I guess I really don't have a clue!!! My sons birthday is tomorrow so I will be at work most of the day, and then out in the evening.......he will be 17!! I am getting old....and now I am going to be a kitty grandma!!!

Eh, my daughter turns 19 at month's end - wahhh! Growing up!

I think your cat is getting very close. Probably in her last week.

You said you felt the bumps on the 3rd of Jan.? When did you first feel them moving? I would also guess she is in her last week!

Yes I first felt them on January 3rd, Felt like little golf balls at that time. I have kept her confined since then in my bedroom. I don't remember when I first felt them move, but there has been movement now for at least two weeks. When she lays on me at night the kittens are very active, like jumping beans.

So after doing some more reading (Jason says I am not allowed to do that anymore...lol) I was curious about Bitzys nesting box. I have a large box full of blankets that I made hers about a week after I found her pregnant. Since I made the box she uses it frequently and I really have left her no other alternative other than on my bed when she decides to deliver. She can't get in my closets or behind furniture. My question though is it has been 5.5 weeks since I have touched the box. Everything in it is now covered in fur and she has made quite the mess of it. Is it ok if I clean in up? I wont wash the blankets but can I readjust them, or just leave them be? I don't want to disturb her process but its driving me nuts lol

Feel fee to wash the blankets and straighten. She will mess them up again, but that's what cats do. Is there a reason why you don't want her in your closet? Cats love closets!

Closets are great for cats because they are dark and not so open as a bedroom. They like the security of the closet. It actually helps them in stressful situations... like being pregnant and giving birth. It's like a cave where they can feel safe and their babies are safe.

My bedroom is quite large and is attached to my office. My main closet is a large walk in closet, it is very large and not very private. There is a small closet in the office with two sliding doors. There is not much in there, I could easily clean it out and rearrange that for her. Her current nesting box is next to my bed on my side as is her water and food. I mostly put it there so I could keep an eye on her during the night. Should I make up an additional area in the closet and just leave one of the doors open? Her litter box is in the office as well.

One other thought, if I do open up the closet to her, do I need to put an additional box in there or just add blackets?

Yes, that is exactly what you should do! She'll probably love it! It gives her another option. Later, if she has her kittens in there, just move her food and water over there too. Fine where everything else is for now. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I would make her a nest in the small closet as well, that way she has a few options. We had Duchess in our large upstairs bathroom with a large covered box with blankets and then I put her small round cat bed in another area of the bathroom. When she was in labor she kept going to her bed even though she had "nested" in the box. I ended up putting her bed in the box (it was an easier area for me to help her if she needed help) and she gave birth in her bed in the box. I then removed her bed once everyone was clean and happy and she has been with the kittens in the box on a heating pad (covered by a blanket) ever since!

Box please, with blankets. Sides keep the babies contained. Big enough for mom to stretch out in fully for nursing. I used a plastic box from Walmart without the top. It wasn't a bin - it was a low plastic box like for storing sweaters under the bed.

I had my girl in my closet with her liter box nesting box and food and water but she wasn't feeling it in their I could even shut the door and shed just meow and scratch til I let her out and so I brought it out and put it in the corner of my room and she barley ever leaves it seems she likes to be more open than contained lol

Thank you everyone!!! I love the idea of the plastic tub. I will stop at Wally World on my way home this evening and set up the closet this evening.......She has been trying to get in the closet and everywhere else for about two weeks. I am truly excited for her!!! If I am reading everything correctly, I can take her and the entire liter to be fixed at 8-10 weeks after delivery, is that correct? I think I will make the appointment now so we are all set to go.

Making several nesting boxes is best. Just because we think the one we make is fine, momma kitty may not think so. Having several gives her plenty to choose from. Put them in different locations so she has more choices and you will see where she is more comfortable.

Most vets require the kittens to be at least 2 lbs. before they will spay/neuter them. Check with your vet to see what he/she recommends. Mom can be spayed as soon as the kittens are weaned.

How are the sores doing on her belly? Have they healed good. You will need to make sure they are ok once she has the babies because they can get irritated again when they nurse.
