Right now, spaying is not the issue. Birthing kittens is. But she can go into heat quite soon after birthing, so please do plan for spaying financially. Look for a low-cost clinic in your area. It's ideal to spay mom when the kittens are 8 weeks old. Kittens themselves can be spayed and neutered at 8 weeks or 2 pounds. Don't let mom out at any time.

And let us know how labor is going!
thank you, will do

So far Dusty has had no discharge at all, is she further away from stage 2 or is that normal?

It just may not be time yet. Keep us informed as things progress. Pregnant moms are usually very tired. Not to worry quite yet.

It sounds as though she was having some pre-labor before, and now is not in labor at all. Like I said, it now appears that it's not quite time.

I recommend that as long as she is not in distress, that you just wait for things to pick up again naturally. It does not sound as though she is in distress.

Keep us posted as things develop.

Thank you, ill just have to be patient than. So labour can pick up any time now? Is there a maximum time where I should then be worried?

You should be concerned if she appears to be in distress or if she is in active labor, pushing, and nothing is happening.

Today Dusty keeps flinching and every so often she'll flinch up and look a me like iv touched her when I haven't. Could this be a sign. She also has a bit of diarrhoea but is still eating fine.

It could be pre labor.  or the beginning . . .
thank you for your quick reply, can cat have more than one pre labour, because she had some the other day but still no sign of actual labour.
She went the toilet again and it's even more wet diarrhoea. Could she be trying to empty out or the kitten could be pushing against her bowels? Anyonehave some ideas as to how much longer, worried about not being present.

It's impossible to say how much longer, but it does sound like her body is in preparation.

Her body is emptying her bowels in preparation for giving birth.

Have you seen her mucus plug or water breaking or leaking?
