I am most definitely going to try these and see what works best, I am just hoping it's a short period of time we have to do this rather than it being a long term or life time thing with him.

It breaks my heart when he does this and I just want to break out in tears, he's like a child to me, they all are. Even with the cute adorable kittens he's still my favorite. I will update soon! Thank you everyone.

I'm glad he gets along with the kittens it's now getting him to calm down and relax with us

Just realize that you cannot put a time frame on how quickly he adjusts.  You should see improvements, but there may be set backs along the way.  It is best to just be committed to helping him and not putting a certain amount of time on how quickly he changes or adapts.  This takes so much of the pressure off the situation.  Realize that there will be steps forward and steps back.  When you do go backwards, just try to remain calm and think what might have caused the upset.

Just decide to make the best of the situation and watch you and your boyfriends reactions.  If he is upset by loud sounds, do your best to watch him closely.

I hope the best for you all.

We've seen many improvements but then we've had two set back this week. In keeping my head up and I bought some more things to finish my cat corner, more cat tables and posts.

If you are to the point where things have to change or you are giving him up, take him to the vet and asks for meds. Nickalaus Dodman, who runs Tufts vet school talks about Buspar for problems like this and says it works very well. Dr. Dodman write extensively about behavior and Tufts is the top of the mark when it comes to vet schools..My friend has her cat on this for the same type of thing and she told me just the other day it is helping her cat a lot.

All the vet will give me is Prozac for cats. I live in a small town so I'm pretty limited to options on vets or behaviorist. I am going to try the composure since it is cheaper and I'm hoping this isn't going to be a long term behavior problem

I don't want any harsh meds in him, I'm hoping the liquid composure will work and he will get over everything.

He's just always wide eyed and ready to attack and looks for reasons and what to attack next. I just want him to relax and calm a little. I'm home alone a lot with them so it makes me uncomfortable to do anything that might scare him again and have him attack. My boyfriend and I knew it wouldn't be easy, it's just looking like it's going to be an on going thing and we just hope we can have a normal house again :)

Update: it's been about week since the whole vicious attack. And there had been a change in Felix. He is no longer the cuddly, and lovable Felix. He never wants us to pet him, he never comes and cuddles with us like he use to on the couch. He's very distant. He does however, still sleeps above my head most the night like he does. I know it's only been a week so I'm trying to give him his space, however with all the other attacks he was right back to laying all over us and loving. He hasn't at all since then. He also constantly is wide eyed and crouched down seeing what I'm doing like he's about to attack me or challenge me. It's pretty scary being home alone because I feel like he'll attack. I'm still being calm and going about what I'm doing hoping he'll relax and come lay down. Let's see if the liquid composer does us good :) if the composure won't work we're going to see about getting him to the vet for a check up.

I finally was able to get kitty Prozac for Felix as a trail to see how it would work on him, we have not seen any improvement, things are either changing or the same, however they are pills, so I must crush them and put them in his wet food. But now he won't eat the wet food[emoji]128557[/emoji]Any other ways I can sneak meds in him? Haha

Get some Pill pockets.  Most pet stores and stores like Walmart and Target sell them.  You can hide the pill inside the pill pocket treat and the cat will eat it.  Crushing a pill rarely works as the taste is just awful.  If you can hold Felix, you can use a pill gun.  They are quick and easy to use.

And if he doesn't like any treats? Any other method, he usually just goes for his wet food and dry kibbles, I've tried multiple treats, I will still get the pill pockets to see he'll go for them. He doesn't even go for chicken haha. I am unable to hold him if that what the pill gun is used for, he's been untouchable and unable to pet him since, constantly crouching and preying on us like to attack. I will run to the store to find the pockets today :) does the liquid composure have any taste?

The pill pockets come in chicken or salmon.  They are soft and pliable.  If the Prozac is a tablet you can see about having it put into a flavored capsule.  Some vets carry these.  Then you can hide it into wet food.  This is how I get the tablet dewormer into my feral cats.

I would not use the Prozac and the Composure at the same time unless you have talked with the vet. I believe the composure is chicken flavored.

Another trick is to try and mix the pill into baby food.  Have you tried Gerber stage 2 chicken or turkey?  It comes in a glass jar with a blue label.  Most cats love it.  I have mixed a few things in it, but if the Prozac is nasty tasting nothing will disguise it.

You can also try hiding the pill pocket in his wet food.  Just make it as small as possible.  You can even cut the pill in half and put it into 2 small pill pockets.  Don't feel you have to use the entire pill pocket.  Just mold it around the pill and make it as small as possible.

I can sympathize with medicating a cat.  It can be so hard.  One of my indoor boys is having some dental work done next week.  He has to be on meds for 14 days.  He hates taking meds.  I will be trying lots of tricks to find out what works starting Sunday.

Oh how great! I know cats are a lot more tricker when it comes to sneaking meds. I have the composure on hand I do not plan on giving them together, but his behavior was changing so much I talked with a vet, he's wouldn't get into the cage or let me pick him up so luckily I had a friend take me to her vet, and spoke with him. The pill pockets sound like they can do the trick :)
I don't doubt they are nasty haha! I hope your kitty gets better soon with his dental work

While we thought the kitty Prozac was working he now randomly will hiss and growl at my boyfriend for no reason? Just walking and he'll do it. Will be seeing if getting the doses higher will do any good :( I really don't want to drug him. But we've been cautious all week and making sure no sudden noises scare him and now it's back to another issue we will need to work on.

It's been two days Felix still has an issue with my boyfriend we can't figure it out, thank goodness he isn't attacking but he does his and growl and snarl. we can figure out what it is. Maybe a higher dose of Prozac will do :)

I hope you are discussing this with your vet.  It is not wise to just up the dose on your own.  Please consult the vet who prescribed this to Felix.

As mentioned above in an earlier post I am going to vet to up his dose, I gave it a week trail to see and it seems almost he's gotten worse sense like a reverse reaction. We can seem to put our finger on why he's doing this is all. And the vet wasn't much help all he said was try the Prozac maybe it's anxiety.

We only feel lost because we know he was scared with load noises and when the kittens gets scared so we been very cautious on what we are doing and it's been fantastic. My boyfriend was in the kitchen and then Felix for no reason snarled and hissed at him. And ever since then he's been doing it. It's been two days [emoji]128531[/emoji]

I have man cat that gets in strange panic when something scared him and like in your case he is losing the head when that happens. It is just he was never so aggressive to us. I never find out why this happens but  I made it to call him down like that I gave him place where he feels safe. He has his tree just for him self and little house where just he can come and not his sister. Other thing that I done is that I am taking care for triggers of panic. Stress movements, loud noises, fights, jelling...I see big improvements at him but this behavior is not away.

I hope I helped  a bit.

My cat wouldn't touch pill pockets even without a pill inside! What worked was putting the tablet in some Liver paste for cats - she lapped it up didn't even notice the tablet.

Just wondered, did the vet examin Felix/take bloods etc and say there was no physical problem before prescribing the Prozac?
