A cat board I was previously on actually did have a get together with interested members every year. The location varied every year. Even though it was a large board with a few hundred members (at least according to the members list), maybe up to 20 people attended the get together. So it's doable but takes a lot of planning and organizing.
Someday, I do think we should do a TCS get-together!
