I also have some quoestions for whe the babies arrive, like how long after birth till i should/could handle them? If they latch good and feed well from luna, should i still have to bottle feed them inbetween?

so you need to get a kitten kit together just in case you need it.  It should contain KMR (kitten replacement milk) to feed or supplement the kittens.  The powdered PETAG form is recommended over the liquid. You can feed it to the mom as well, she will need the extra vitamins for nursing.  It can also be added to the kittens wet food when they start on solids.  It won't be wasted.  Needleless syringes 1 or 2 ml for supplementing and/or Kitten baby bottles.  I don't know if kittens can share bottles or syringes so you should get more than one - maybe 3 or 4?  A heating pad or alternate heat source, you can fill a sock w/raw rice (microwave 5 min) as a heating source to help keep kittens warm.  Cotton balls in case you need to help clean the kittens?  And most importantly a scale that will measure in grams or .01 ounces.  You need to weight the babies daily (at the same time) so you can make sure they are gaining enough weight, that way you will know if you need to supplement.

KMR you can get from Walmart or you can get most of these from a pet store.  Syringes can come from any phamacy or your vet.

You're going to be a great pet grandma!

Its 77 in my house right now and can sometimes reach 80, would I need to heat them during the day even at these temps? I dont want to cook the poor little things haha

The normal cat temp is about 100.  The kittens can't regulate their body temp until they are about 3 weeks old and if you need to supplement they must be warm enough to eat and digest the food.  In some cases the mom's refuse or can't take care of the kittens and the mom's need to eat and use the litter box.  So best to have something available just in case.

Thank you! And should i be able to feel engorged milk sacks behind the teats? Because i only kinda do in the bottom two and the rest, aoart from the erected teat, is flat so im worried she may not have been able to produce milk right as i am discovering her pregnancy late. I am packing her full of as much protien as possible. Im keeping a constant supply of dryfood down and i give her wet food when i see her snoff her dry food and walk away

She is gorging on this wet food today and i just feel so terribly irresponsible and horrible as i allowed her into my home before i could afford to get her fixed and am realizing too little too latw how different owning an unfixed stray is compared to my previous fixed rescues :( i just cpuldnt stand to see her get burried with snow anymore and made a snap decision and we bonded so hard so quick i just love her so so much and want tue best for her and feel like ive let her dowb

She will likely produce plenty of milk. The milk comes in fully when the babies begin to nurse. You will most likely not have to supplement, but it is always a good idea to be prepared, because emergencies always come when the shops are closed!

You have done a beautiful service by adopting this stray. Do not feel badly at all. She is happy to have a home and a human to feed her and care for her. There is time to spay her when the babies are weaned. You will just need to keep her inside so that she does not get pregnant again when she goes into heat, which can happen even when she is nursing.

The babies will likely be warm enough without supplemental heat, but it is good to have something just in case - heating pad or rice, as handsome kitty handsome kitty said.

There are many links at the top of this forum that you can read to help you prepare. If you are seeing the babies move she probably has at least a couple of weeks left. Do you know when she mated?

Welcome to the forum and happy meows! :)

I dont think i see them moving, she rarely lets me touch her belly so i can really only get a good feel whwn she is eating. Im so bad at time lines , but it seems like it had to have been about two months ago. I thought she was pregnant then he belly got little and i was sure she wasnt multiple, multiple times since then, and have tried to keep her in since i saw her mate bit she snuck out a couple times for a couple hours. The last time she snuck out was memorial day and she was robust then but since she was so tiny and skinny when i found her, and her belly has bloated up quite large and hard then deflated overnight like 20 times, i assumed she was just getting chubby or bloated. But as of this last week i am certain she is pregnant.

When i decided to keep her in and let her bond with me, i was sure i wouls be able to come up with the funds to support her but it has been a downward spiral since then as far as finacing for me since then. Ive lost a job and and had nothing but dead ends since then, unforseen health events, and so on and so on. I know i shouldn't have a pet knowing i cant afford more than a bag of food and litter every couple weeks but all i could think at the time is that shes going to be here and not getting proper medical care if i just ignore her and leave her outside, so i might as well let her be warm and comfortable and loved inside. I cant stomach the thought of her suffering and now having kittens suffer at my hand, but im in this situation and im calling a the humane societies within 40 miles of me, but there are just too many poor kitties everywhere. If i never brought her in, she would be in the same situation, but she would be cold and hungry, her babies would be feral and adding to the overpopulation, but now if they suffer it will be because of my poor choices. I just really need everything to be ok and for the babies to be able to get loving safe homes with people who can properly provide for them. My tv is playing nothing but over population over full shelter and the obvious necessity to spay immediately ads and its just eating me up

Are there rescue organizations in your area?  We have many that have foster homes for kittens, some provide food and medical care, others look for fosters who can afford to feed them.  Maaybe you can hook up with one of them for help, I assume you will not be keeping the kittens.  They also spay/neuter the kittens before adoption and take care of vacinations.

Is that due to a lack of foster parents or funds?  I assume you are willing to foster the kittens, so if it's lack of fosters that shouldn't be an issue.

If the litter is small your cat may even be  able to nurse some orphans

My luna is humongous, about to pop at any day and she has a little fishy toy filled with catnip she licks and sucks on from time to time. Im wondering if i should let her do this or not? I tried googling it and one site will say its ok and another site will say no because its a uterine stimulant? I dont know the exact day she conceived, but i saw her mating about two months or so ago. She may havr concived after then, anf she may have concived then, since im not sure of the exact date, im a little worried about her becoming overdue. She is showing allll the signs of a suoer super pregnant kitty but i cant see or feel anything moving inside her.

When i feel her sides, i can feel some masses on each side appropriate to the size the littke babies should be inside, last week i felt two disticnt lumps, one on top of the oher on each side. This week i can feel the lumps arent quite as symmetrical, and ill feel it and feel a slight lump, then feel it again like an hour later and thr lump will feel much "sharper" i guess, like more protruding, then shortly after it will be slightly smoother, and this has been occurring regulalru thoroughout the day and nighy for the past week and to me it seems like the little kittens are maybe moving positions in side of her? But i dont feel them kicking or wiggling like ive seen in alot of videos. I lost a child at just 12 weeks gestation but i know in the ultrasound it was flipping upside down and sideways and right side up again, im not sure if baby kitties would do or could do the same. Ive stared at her side for like an hour while shes sleeping and other than her breathing of loose hair tickle twitches, i cant see any movements from within the general balloon. I will notice a slight buldge witbin the budlge, then shell lay down and when she gets up it will be smoother. This is all on her sides. Her underneath parts feel and apear to be filling with milk as of the past day or two. I really notice it today especially on her bottom two teets. Her nipples (the part that sticks out) are looking more cone shape, similar to a baby bottle nipple and less like a little worm i guess. (Im bad with descriptions)
