Here is our tree! I still haven't hung the lighted garland in the kitchen or the kid's stockings or any of the other little things. It's just been an unusual last month.[/quote]

Mooch, gorgeous! Just gorgeous! I love that Noel Cardinal....way cool! And your Kiss Me Under the Mistletoe sign. I like the way you did your kitchen. Very, very nice!

You guys all have some neat ideas for your homes! I really love all the pictures!

Here's what we have done so far:

These are from in the kitchen:

There's the casserole crock pot; I'm making chicken with vegetables for dinner today.

That Santa cookie jar is probably close to 40 years old now; we've had him forever. Our Snoopy cookie jar lives on top of the cabinets.

The Winterberry sleigh is what we found teetering over the edge of the hutch last year. Tabby decided to investigate the top of the hutch at 2:00 in the morning. The Winterberry candles crashing to the floor gave us a rude awakening. Fortunately only one large candle broke and one hurricane lamp broke; that was it.

The pink blankie on the table is where Tabby and Mollipop lay when they nap. Tabby, esp, likes to sit there while we're eating dinner. It's not so bad....until she starts cleaning her privates. Really, Tabby, must you?? But she doesn't care. And we get dinner and a show!
The Tacky White Tree isn't decorated yet. When Rick went to string the blue lights on the tree, he realized that they weren't working. We did order new LEDs, but they've not come yet. They should be here Tuesday. Once Rick does the blue lights, then I'll put the blue balls on.  (Notice a "hole" in the tree? Come closer.....closer)

There, see it? It's not a hole; it's a certain plump little grey kitty with pretty white paws. Tabby is napping in the tree. When I took the picture I must have startled her and she shot out of the tree. Brat. She is definitely fixated on the Tacky White Tree.

This was Banshee's Christmas stocking. Banshee

Ms. Pepe is doing what she does best....napping. She is BooBoo's litter sister and will be 19 years old in February.

One of the ceramic Christmas trees on the piano was my great-grandmother's; the other one was my mother's. I have them now and will give them to Graham (our son) someday. That's Rodney the Reindeer perched on top of the clock.

It doesn't look too bad, considering the six cats in the house. Thanks for looking!

Very nice Pam!  I still (usually) put up the stockings for our RB babies.  I even have the stocking that belonged to my mother's childhood dog.
I've left some things down this year; including those stockings.  Less for little hands to want to get after.

What's in the blue mouse ear bin?

Thanks! The blue mouse ear bin is actually a mouse. The top is the head and the tail is around the back of the bottom. That's the cats' toy box and we store their balls and little meeces and all kinds of stuff in there. When they get bored, they'll stick their heads in there and fish something out and play with it for a while. Then they'll get something else out. I've seen BooBoo, esp, with his whole upper body in the toy box, looking around for something. He noses stuff out of the way or paws it out of the way, til he finds what he wants. Then he'll bring it out with his teeth and start batting it around. That's why we never put the lid on the bin; the cats will get in there on their own and get something out.

We have all the stockings hung on the stair railing, but I didn't post any pictures. It's just their stockings, no decorations to go along with them or anything. We had some really pretty garland wrapped around the railing last year, until the cats "ate" it. I think it lasted all of two days. We also had some snowflake lights wrapped around the railing, too, but well, when we saw Tabby trying to crunch on one of the snowflakes, we knew that was a bad move on our part. Banshee's stocking is in the kitchen.

just wanted to add what beautiful decorations you all have!

cats4sky, your tree is so pretty!

Here are some pictures from a couple of years ago. It's much the same this year but I just had cataract surgery this morning and don't feel up to taking images and editing them. Hope you understand.

Mrs Tiggywinkle is joined by a shy little doe. Took me forever to glue the individual scales from hemlock cones onto a rather not-pretty plastic deer. The porcelain vegetables in the basket are fabulous, came from White Flower Farm in CT one summer many, many years ago.

My father made me the tomten. He's a Scandinavian elf who guards the farm against the fox who might come and eat the chickens. There's a charming book about the tomten and the fox.

There are two other pictures I want to share but they keep "falling over" when I upload and appear sideways. Anybody got a solution?

Happy holidays. And rememer, now that we are past the solstice - every day is another day closer to Spring!

A few more pics...

Added some lights and poinsettia to the garland with the kissing ball. The garland was $1 from Dollar Tree, a 15' strand folded over to look a little more high quality. Lights were $2 from Wally World and $2 at Dollar Tree for one stem of red poinsettia and one stem of white, and I clipped the flowers off and used some wire to secure them. I really like how this turned out.

Some outside decor... the picture I got at night wasn't that great so you'll have to imagine the garland on the porch with white lights lit up :) It looks nice and is very traditional. (My fiancé grew up with white lights so this is a compromise for him... I do like both, but strongly  prefer colored lights, haha.)

And here's his compromise for me!!!! A wild and crazy blinking colored-light tree. We have 350 regular colored lights that I put a few of the blinker bulbs in so they just flash on and off occasionally, and then one 150 strand of the multi-function lights that cycle through 16 settings. This is how my tree was growing up (see below for this year's version of my parents' tree!) and I just can't imagine having a more traditional white-light tree. Don't get me wrong - they are beautiful, and I like white lights. But sitting in the dark watching the blinking colored lights is one of my favorite memories from Christmas starting when I was a child all the way to the present! I don't have many ornaments - maybe a dozen or so. We did shiny glass balls (towards the inside, to reflect light), and made do with what few ornaments I have. My mom recently started an ornament exchange with me, my aunt, and my SIL, so hopefully I should be adding 3-4 each year!

And a bonus pic, here is my parents' tree this year. I started decorating it for them a few years ago and even though I don't live there anymore I have tried to keep up the tradition. We missed last year, but this year I was able to visit and do the decorating. It's a real tree (as you can see) and they like big, wild cedar trees. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it sure is mine!

The wild cedar trees is what we had for Christmas when I was a child.  I grew up on a farm and that was what was free for the taking on our farm

We have a wreath on the outside of the front door. That's it. Decided not to have anything inside with the kittens still being... well, kittens.
