So... I have decided I want a cat before getting kittens since cats are better for those who will be having a cat/kitten for the first time. Kittens are harder to look after and so I have decided I feel getting a cat will be better.. So  I am still unsure on a few things, these range from cat foods, feeding times to vaccinations. Here are my questions:

1) Wet or Dry foods, and in what amounts? More wet food or more dry????

2) When to feed cat???

3) How do vaccinations work? I'm pretty sure they are yearly shots but I am not 100% certain

4) Is bathing your cat necessary? Some people say no as they clean themselves vary well

5) Cat food best brands? I know cats will like different brands but which should I try first

Thanks for your time :) :) :)

PS. So cannot wait to get a cat.... Just thinking about cuddling with a cat and playing with it

You could get two older kittens or young adults. Still young but mostly over their crazy kitten antics.

To try and answer your questions:

1. Wet food is MUCH better than dry. The more wet food you can feed, the better. http://www.thecatsite.com/a/choosing-the-right-food-for-your-cat

2. Most adult cats do fine on 3 meals a day. A before work, after work, before bed schedule usually works best for the humans.

3. Vaccines are a complicated issue: http://www.catinfo.org/?link=vaccines for info written by a vet that I think makes sense.

4. Bathing a cat is unnecessary for the most part. They usually clean themselves just fine.

5. This is also a complicated question. Are you talking dry or wet or both? What kind of budget? Are you in the USA or someplace else? The brands available differ by country somewhat.

Thanks for the reply. I live in the UK and am willing to spend quite a bit to ensure the cat gets good quality food and thanks again for the advice :p I figured wet was much better due to higher water content XD

Check out post #8 in this thread. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/271042/almo-nature-applaws-or-taste-of-the-wild-dry-food

It's written by one of our European members who has tested a lot of different foods available in Europe. Hopefully, it will help you. And wet food is a lot better than dry. Price is not always the best indicator of the quality of the food. Learn to read ingredient labels. You want meats to be high on the list and as few grains/starchy vegetables as possible.

Hi, welcome to TCS!  I will leave the advice to others (as I am not so great on the nutrition aspects) but I am happy to meet you.
