I know that Almo Nature and Applaws are not complete wet foods, but I was wondering if they are complete dry foods. I never noticed they had a dry food version until I saw them on Zooplus. I've heard Taste of the Wild is a really good brand for my cat to be on and it is really health for him. I was wondering if Taste of the WIld would be a better option than the Almo Nature and Applaws dry food, or if one of them is better than Taste of the Wild. I would really appreciate the help since I can't check it up myself. On Zooplus, they have a list of ingredients of Taste of the wild, but not for the dry food of Almo Nature and Applaws.

Have you looked up the brand's webpages?

I prefer feeding wet over dry and believe there are many benefits to feeding wet only. Occasionally I use TOTW dry as treats and am pleased with the quality. It's one of the healthier dry foods that cats like.

I have looked up Almo nature's website, but I couldn't find a list of ingredients. It did say that it was made with real meat, no by-products, and had no physical or chemical processing. I know that Almo Nature and Applaws are very good wet food, but the problem is they are not complete cat food, only supplementary. I've heard that Orijen is one of the best dry food's for cats and is really high quality. The only problem is it is very expensive. I think Taste of the Wild is just as good and a lot cheaper. I do believe that feeding cat's good quality dry food is good for them and will not harm them. I also feed my cat wet food every other day. I've heard Taste of the Wild is a really healthy and good dry food, but I was also curious about the other two since I want to get the best quality for my baby.

I would write to the company and ask. Usually they respond.

That's a good idea! I just might do that :)! Thank you. I still am hoping to hear other people's opinion's though like if they have ever tried any of the foods and what they think of it.

Almo Nature and Applaws WET food are actually not that good - they look great for us humans, but they are too low in fat and lack the vitamins and minerals to make them complete, as you know. Almo Nature is insanely pricey, it is actually the most expensive cat food on zooplus.ro. I do feed Applaws, but I try to keep it under 15% of their total diet.

Thy dry foods are complete. Information from zooplus.com:

Almo Nature Holistic chicken and rice:Ingredients:
Meat and animal products 56% (26% fresh cooked chicken meat), grains (rice 14%, wheat, barley), extracts of plant proteins, oils and fats, minerals, manno-oligosaccharides (MOS), fructooligosaccharides (FOS).

Applaws chicken:
Ingredients:
Dry Chicken Meat (min. 59%), Dry Potato (min 4%), Chicken Mince (min. 9%), Poultry Oil (min. 9%, source of Omega 6), Poultry Gravy (min. 3%), Beet Pulp (min. 3%), Dry Whole Eggs (min. 3%), Brewers Dried Yeast, Salmon Oil (source of Omega 3), Minerals, Cellulose Plant Fibre (min. 0.4%), Sodium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Seaweed/Kelp, Cranberry, DL-Methionine, Potassium Chloride, Yucca Extract, Citrus Extract, Rosemary Extract.

So with one that has cereals and proteins from plants and one that has all sort of unnecessary extracts, the decision is tough.

I tried Applaws and Taste of the Wild, but none of my three was particularly fond of it.

Thank you so much for your opinion, it is extremely helpful!! I had no idea that Almo Nautre and Applaws aren't really good. It really is difficult to find a cat food that is good quality. Almo Nature is very expensive and it is sad that it is not only low in fat, but also lacks the necessary vitamins. Once the last several cans of my Almo Nature run out, I plan to put Mew on a cat food that is complete and is healthy. The only problem is that I am not sure which cat food to pick for him. I've heard that Grau, Bonzita, Animonda Carny and Catz all have high protein and are a complete cat food. The only problem is that I'm not sure which one's are high quality and are healthy or if there is a better wet food. I believe they are all grain free which is really good. I was thinking of picking two different brands for variety, but I'm not sure which. Do you know anything about these brands and if they are good or if there is a better option? I would really appreciate you're advice since it's so difficult to find which brands are the best quality.

Thank you so much for finding the ingredients for Almo Nature and Applaws Dry food! I use Dutch Zooplus and I couldn't find the ingredients. That's strange they have it listed on the American version, but not the Dutch one. It's good to hear that Almo Nature and Applaws are complete dry food. I think Applaws and Taste of the Wild are better than Almo Nature from looking at the ingredients. It's a difficult decision to pick between them because they both are pretty high quality cat foods with a high amount of protein. It is a pretty tough decision.

Well, I can tell you my experiences with cat food. I feed three cats of my own and 5 feral cats. I will only mention the ferals if important, otherwise my food managers and quality/taste analysts are Sophie - the pickiest fussiest eater ever, Amelie who is an average eater and Harley, who would eat anything and anyone, as long as it fits in his mouth or can be made to fit.

WET FOOD:

Bozita -complete- the tetrapacks are chunks, the cans are pate (mine don't care about texture, but I know most cats have preferences). I have only used the chunks varieties. Out of 8 cats, only Sophie likes it, no matter the flavor. But she also is the pickiest and has the weirdest tastes. I was disappointed by the negative feedback provided by my cats, but that is life. I still order Bozita for Sophie, and Amelie and Harley will eat it if hungry enough. It is at an excellent price and great quality but, be aware, all the flavors have beef and pig, so that is good to know if your cat has allergies. Also, you will never find as much protein in chunks or files as you would find in pate textures.

Grau -complete- probably the best food available on zooplus, however it is not on the cheaper end. I am talking about the grain-free varieties (they also have some flavors with rice). It is pate, quite heavy in texture, and both Harley and Amelie enjoy all the flavors. Sophie never touches it, not even a bite.

Animonda:

Carny varieties -complete- : heavy pate, similar in texture with Grau, but a lot cheaper. Beef based. I love the fact that they are so transparent with the ingredients, they say how much is muscle, lungs, heart and so on. Unfortunately, none of my three like Animonda Carny and I did not insist.

Exotic -complete- : this was a total hit. All of them liked all the flavors. It is pate with a bit of gravy. Don't be fooled though by the "exotic" idea, it is still beef based, with 20% exotic. And it is quite expensive.

Vom Feinsten fillet pouches - supplementary - the cheaper version of Cosma and Applaws. They all like it.

I did not try the other Animonda lines.

Catz Finefood - complete - heavy pate, tried all the flavors, none of them liked any. It is however a great food, so if your cat likes it, go for it. I will give Catz another try with my next order.

Terra Faelis - complete - only tried the chicken, squash and catnip flavor. Sophie didn't like it, the other two so-so. If they are hungry enough, they would eat it. It is pate with a very high content of gravy.

Schmusy Nature (not the other lines) - complete-  the cans are pate, the pouches are chunks. It is quite high in carbs because of the rice and pastas and the pouches have by-products, but it is in the rotation as all of them like it.

Kattovit gastro and mono-protein - complete - it has rice, but otherwise have few ingredients. It is pate, lighter in texture, and they all like it.

Thrive - complete - I think it is the only fillet complete food out there. They are crazy for it. It is outrageously expensive, but what don't we do for our cats, right?!

Schesir, Porta 21 (all but the holistic line), Applaws, Almo Nature, Cosma - supplementary - fillet. Of course they all like it. It is expensive and is basically over cooked chicken/tuna. What is there not to like, in their opinion?! It would be great if these were complete. But they are not and the low fat and this can cause constipation, among anemia and other bad stuff.

I have also tried Yarrah - expensive and low quality ingredients; Herrmann's - expensive, has a lot of veggies and only the duck and goose were eaten.

I am waiting for the order I placed yesterday, as there are some Feringa tins in there and I am curious of the feedback. I will order Granata Pet next time.

So long story short, I have at least 4-5 brands and a lot more flavors in rotation, as I have not found yet the perfect food - one has veggies, the other one has by-products, another has rice, another has pasta and the rest are supplementary or they will not eat it. I am trying to stay away from foods that have cereals (although the supplementary ones have rice), sugar, dyes (like caramel) and other weird ingredients. I am ok with some by-products and veggies (like pumpkin), as long as the food is not high fiber and the quantity of these ingredients is on the very low side. I am trying to provide variety so that what they miss in one food they have in the next. By the way, I generally feed one type of food and flavor/day, but Harley and Amelie also get raw from time to time and Sophie still eats kibbles.

About DRY FOOD now:

I would not feed dry but with Sophie every meal is a hustle and a fight and in the end I break and give her Thrive freeze dried treats and kibbles.

Out of the grain free varieties, she really enjoyed Happy Cat duck and Porta 21. She did not like Applaws or Taste of the wild, and I have not tried yet Acana or Orijen. The rest of the dry foods available are cereal based and I would not recommend.

Sorry for the long post, it is just that I am very interested in cat nutrition and I am still learning.

Wow, you really do know a lot about cat nutrition! Sorry about not responding for a few days, I was pretty busy. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me you're experience and opinion's on the different brands. It really helped me pick decide which brands I thought we're good and I was able to do some research and pick out several that I like for Mew. Wow I looked up Thrive on Zooplus and it is crazy expensive! I really like the brands Bozita, Grau, Animonda Carny, and Catz Finefood the best. I really like that they all have good protein, high amounts of meat, good nutrients, no by products, and no grain. Next week I plan to order several cans of 2 or 3 different brands and see which one's Mew enjoys. Hopefully he will enjoy at least 2 different brands so I can rotate them and give him more variety. I also saw that Applaws has a 400 gram pack of dry food for 4.50 euros which is really good since I can see if  Mew enjoys it. Too bad Taste of the Wild doesn't have a trail pack or anything in a smaller size to try. Thank you again for you post! You're opinion really helped me pick out complete food's for Mew that are good quality. I'm glad I learned Almo Nature isn't a complete food and it's not good to feed him it every day.
If you go to the product page and click on "samenstellung", it'll take you down to the ingredients:
Wow, they do have a page for the list of ingredients! Thank you so much telling me. I was trying to find it everywhere. It really helped me pick out some good brands for Mew.

I think Almo Nature is better than applaws because it doesn't contain grains. Rice is good for humans, but not for cats. I'm currently giving my rescued cat Stella and Chewy's freeze dried chicken and turkey and Almo Nature once a day. I rotate different brands and food daily. I would like him to eat a completely raw diet, but he also likes pate style canned food.

Every pet food should have a statement on the package from AAFCO which will let you know if the food is complete and balanced or is meant to be fed as a supplement only. For what its worth, Taste Of The Wild is made by Diamond and I don't know what's up but they seem to be having more problems lately...

Almo Nature daily menu is complete and pate and doesn't have rice, but most of the other Almo Nature lines are supplementary and have rice. I don't know what's the dal with that, I guess they can't make a shredded food without adding rice to it.
