If someone is driving past your house and shooting at your pets they are putting you and your family in danger. This matter really needs to be reported to the police.

I don't want to cause trouble between you and your parents but it might be better if you called your grandparents and asked for their help anyway. Your cat REALLY needs to be seen by a vet. I know they'll be mad at you but you'll be so mad at yourself if you let him suffer.

Big hug. I wish I was there to help you.

I called my grandma and she told me: "I am very disappointed in you. You should have talked to your parents about taking him today. The vet will not be open on Sunday (Tomorrow)" She then requested to speak to my parents. She then scolded them and now they are even more mad at me. They will take Oreo to the vet tomorrow "If they can get him in" (That is what they are saying). Now they are talking about how we might have to put him to sleep and I just wish that none of this ever happened.

Good for you! I'm really proud of you for doing that to help your cat. It shows how much you love him. I know your parents are mad at you now but they probably just feel embarrassed because Grandma scolded them. They'll forgive you. You did the right thing.

I really hope your cat will be OK. I've heard of cats surviving being shot before, hopefully he's not to badly injured and the vet will be able to help him. Even if the worst comes to the worst and he does have to be put to sleep, at least he will die peacefully rather than dying slowly and in pain.

You're a great kid and it sounds as if your Grandma is a great lady too.

Lots of vibes for your boy.

keep us posted, let us know how it goes at the vet.

I'm glad you spoke to your grandmother.  Call her again and ask her to pick you up and take you and kitty to the vet if your parents aren't helpful tomorrow. It is worth getting grounded. You parents are being more than unreasonable, in fact if they weren't your parents I would have an earful to say about them!

If your parents will not pay for veterinary care do not get any more pets! You are only a few years away from being able to get a job and pay your own expenses. Get a pet then, when you have the money to pay for vet treatment yourself.

I hope your cat survives.

I was taking care of someone's horse once and the horse had severe medical problems that the vet wouldn't treat without the owner's permission. Watching that horse die was the worst experience of my life.  It turned out that there was nothing that could have been done anyway. The horse was beyond saving, but instead of watching it suffer, it could have been put down sooner.

The only vets that are open on Sunday are emergency vets or the local vet school/university.  I have a feeling your parents will not be helpful - if they tell you no one is open they are lying.  In fact, you should be going to the vet now and not waiting.

Emergency vets are open 24/7, or at least most are.  Think of the ER. It never closes.

Make sure you go with your cat to the vet. Your parents might request to have him put down, even if he could be saved for a hundred $ more.

I hope your cat makes it through the night. Realistically his chances of survival decrease the more time has passed.  The risk of bloodloss, shock,  internal bleeding and infection go up the longer he is left untreated.

I'm really angry with your parents. :(   Letting someone suffer and die instead of being put down is the worst possible fate, and in my eyes is unforgivable.

Full credit to you for trying to do the best for your wee cat and shame on your parents for letting it suffer so much! Sorry to be so blunt but there's absolutely no excuse for your parents attitude knowing the cat must be in terrible pain. In this country they would actually be charged with neglect and banned from having any more animals.
Bless you though, you sound like you have a really good heart. Please let everyone know what happens, good or bad news. Thinking of you!

We are all very proud of you for seeking help. This is a difficult situation- not getting support from your parents when there's a dying cat in desperate need of medical attention. I hope everything turns out okay and they rush him to the vet today!

Your grandma may have yelled at you, but you are helping your cat. If your parents say no for whatever reason, call grandma again. Your parents should not let a pet they are responsible for suffer like this. I am proud of you for calling your grandmother. Who cares if your parents are upset? You have a very good reason!

I'm so proud of you for calling your grandmother anyway. Even though you got yelled at you did the right thing. Still...that kitty needed to be seen asap, not wait. It's so cruel and I just don't understand it. Sweetheart PLEASE don't think you are alone. We're here for you to talk to okay? this is wrong on so many levels. It's wrong to do to the kitty and it's wrong to put you through this as well. I'm so sorry again this is happening. Please keep us posted.

I'm actually sickened at the thought of that poor cat possibly slowly dying in agony because no adult can be bothered taking it to a vet. I hope this has a happy ending and wish the OP would get back to us!

Good on you for calling your grandmother. I'm not totally OK with her saying that she's disappointed in you, but we'll deal with that later.

Shock is your biggest threat right now. Giving water by syringe will help, as well as giving food. What does he eat, canned or dry? Anything you can tell us will better help us to help you get food and water in him can make a big difference.

Does he have a kitty bed or blanket that he likes? Make him something comfortable to lay on (folded towel, blanket, whatever). Talk to him. It will help calm him and you.

Hello everybody who responded! You guys really helped me through this! I couldn't have done it without you! today we took Oreo to the local vet and he ha an exam. There was a lump where the hole I saw yesterday was. After alot of talking, they lanced it and found a small round metal ball. Now he is home with us and we are giving him antibiotics to fight any infection. the vet said that he was acting like that and not eating or drinking because he was scare and in pain. today he ate some wet food and we gave him some water and he is walking around some. we are very lucky that the ball didnt go much further than breaking skin. thanks again to all of your hopes and vibes! You guys are the best!

Oh thank God!!! I'm so happy your kitty seems to be okay. Please please please talk to your parents about keeping your cat indoors from now on. Obviously someone in your neighborhood did this and will do it again!!! I really think the police still  need to be notified because other pets and maybe even children could be hurt. But that's your call. I'm just so happy to here this good news.

Oh that's great!

I'm so glad your story has a happy ending. Oreo is really lucky to have you to take care of him.

I think the other people who posted here are right though, you should get your parents to tell the police what happened. There is some crazy person with a shot gun out there and they'll keep firing it at things until they are stopped. Other pets and kids could get hurt..

Big hug for you and Oreo.

Keep us posted on his recovery.

Oh my gosh, I could cry for you! I'm so happy your story had a happy ending and your little one is going to be okay. Once again well done and huge credit to you for being such a good hearted 14 year old who cared enough to argue the point to get your cat to the vet. I really thought it was going to be bad news when I got up this morning. You've brightened up my Monday morning.
Keep posting and let us know how he's getting on!

Not much more to add other than to say kudos to you. You're a brave and wonderfully caring person. Please stay like that forever, the world needs more people like you!  Wishing you and your kitty all the best :-)
