Okay, so I just signed up on here for help on finding my two beloved cats, Sammy and Sasha. Listen, somebody stole my kitties. Horrible, right? My dad was taking care of them at his house and left to get some cat food and somebody broke into the house (the lock is broken) and stole nothing but my cats and some of their food. I have spent HOURS looking for them. I even went out shaking their treat bag looking for them but they never came back. I am heartbroken! I have had Sasha for 8 years and Sammy for 3 3/4. Sasha's birthday passed and I didn't even get to see her! I have sworn not to give up on my search but it is hard not to. I try and try and try but I end up with nothing. I always hear fake meows and see fake cat hair everywhere. I have been looking on Petfinder to see if somebody has sold them but i end up with nothing, too.
Now, there is a twist...
Somebody spotted my cats! I was so happy! I thought my depression was over. They sent me pictures and said that they shaved my Sasha's beautiful, long black coat. So, my Ragamuffin is now a Spinx. Now, my Mom won't even try to get them! She is now saying that I am allergic to cats. What? I was never allergic to cats and I have doctor records to prove it. So now I have no way to get my cats. The walk is about 2 hours and 45 mins, I have no car, I have no carrier to carry them, and my dad can't go there because his car got messed up in a crash and he has to wait a long time to get it fixed. I know I'm going to sound like a brat, but, I want my cats NOW! Please help me!

I'm sorry to say, it sounds like your family got rid of your cats :(. People do not usually steal adult cats unless they're valuable show animals. It's even hard to give away cats you can't keep, so someone stealing them is pretty unlikely! Especially since your mom is now saying that you're allergic to cats, it sounds like she probably got rid of them on purpose. I hope you can work this out with your family.

As for someone saying that they've seen your cats, be veryvery careful. Many people run scams to take advantage of grieving owners of lost pets. Do not give them any money or personal information.

If I were you, I would take some time to clear your head. It sounds really stressful. You need to look at this from different angles and think about what might have happened. Yes, someone stealing them is possible but is it likely? Maybe your parents gave them away. Or perhaps your cats got out and something happened from there.

Actually I can sort of relate to what you're going through. About 7 years ago, I had a lovely cat who I adored and he was very loyal to me. I had moved back in with my Mum and then moved out with my boyfriend. He has a cat that is very aggressive and I didn't want my cat living with his. So I left my cat living at my Mums. Little did I know that my Mum would make Rhea (my cat) live an entirely outdoor life. Rhea was a cat that loved company and curling up on the couch. So Mum calls me up one day to tell me she hadn't seen Rhea for a couple of weeks (thanks Mum!). I felt awful as I had failed my cat. Six months later we found out he had moved in with an elderly man around the corner. I didn't try to get him back though. Rhea was happy in his new home and it was the best of a bad situation. To this day, I feel guilty. My point is that I thought my cat would be ok living at my Mums but didn't consider the possibility Mum would treat my cat so differently from what I did. Is it possible something similar has happened to your cats? Did your parents leave them outside for long periods of time? Were they supposed to be indoors but got out? They may have been picked up (not stolen) by someone or maybe they have strayed. Are your parents being honest with you?

I think you should take some time to calm down, think it through, and then have a conversation with your parents. Tell them it's really important that you know the truth because that gives you the best chance of finding them. Don't get into blaming them, just focus on the problem at hand. Good luck!

:yeah: I am sorry, but have to agree with Willowy on this one. I think you should be looking at your mother as the one who gave your cats away. So sorry, hun. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Sorry, but my description of the problem was a little vague. My mom is also kinda sad and she misses Sammy, but not Sasha. She has always disliked Sasha because of her coat. The person who spotted them said they saw them when they were driving almost done driving to Naples, which is very far from here. So, I am 99.99% sure that it wasn't my mom.

I can't imagine a person would break the lock on his house just to get rid of your cats, even if stealing cats is an odd thing.

I am concerned about the people who found your cat. It sounds very suspicious. Why would someone break in to steal your cats and some food and then shave it? Especially a cat with long fur. Also how does this person know it's your cat if she's been shaved?

In the picture was she completely hair free? Hair/fur grows pretty fast so if you decided to shave a cat, either she should have some stubble or they would have to shave her regularly. I can't imagine how hard it would be to shave a cat completely bald. Especially the face.

I'm sorry, but this really sounds like a scam. Maybe that's why your mom doesn't want to go. Was there anything about this picture that made you think it was Sasha? Was Sammy in the picture too?

They were both in the picture and Sammy is a short-hair. I recognized them by the half-mustache and a mark on the back of her leg on Sasha and Sammy has a line up his face and has a white tipped tail. They gave Sasha a lion cut. This person stayed at my house when I had my cats an noticed how long her fur is.

Sure, but your mom could still miss the cats regardless of whether she knows what happened to them or not. Very odd how this took place and I am sorry for the kitties.

This is also a bit off too: IF Naples is so far from your house, then it is very, very, very unlikely that both cats were spotted outdoors together. I think someone sadly knows where your cats are and what happened to them but are not being honest with you. So sorry. :vibes:

I agree.  I am very sorry and know how hard it can be to hear/accept bad things about your parents, but the chances of someone stealing cats, especially older cats that are not purebreds, is zero.  Truly, zero. I can see an outside chance that someone broke in and the cats escaped, but not with nothing else being taken and the food being gone.

I can't be 100% sure because I am not inside your mom and dad's minds, but I am truly certain that your parents did this. Nothing else makes sense.  They probably gave the cats to someone who lived far away figuring then you'd never see them again or find them.  I am quite confused about these people getting in touch with you now- maybe they feel and or didn't know the whole situation, or maybe the cats were offloaded for a second time or maybe they aren't really your cats no matter how they look.

I apologize for being so direct and know this isn't what you want to hear, but something VERY fishy is going on here, and I am as sure as I can be that your parents ARE involved.

If you don't mind my asking, how old are you?

Like everyone else has said, this whole story is very suspicious. Could these people have agreed to take your cats? What I mean is, maybe your parents wanted to get rid of the cats and these people agreed to give them a new home.

I think you need to sit down with your Mom and explain to her that you know she isn't being honest with you and ask her to tell you the truth.

Even if your parents won't let you get your cats back, knowing exactly what happened is going to make the situation easier for you to deal with. And is Sasha and Sammy have got a new home you might be able to get the new owners to send you pictures and let you visit them sometimes.

Sorry you're going through this. I can remember how frustrating it felt to live with my parents and have them make these kind of decisions without talking to me.

:alright:
I agree with this, hun. It would be better for you on an emotional level to know the truth so you will be able to move on and know that, at least, your cats are being well cared for, safe and loved. In all honesty, I think that your kitties ARE alright, are safe and are being well taken care of. I, as Norachan said, also remember when I was young and my parents made those decisions for me. :alright: Vibes for you :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I think you need to stop, and start over from the beginning. There's too much confusion here and a few of us are having a hard time following you. Can you please start over from the beginning and explain a bit clearer?

Ok. So your mom said they were at the ASPCA?  Then your parents must have taken them there.

If that is the case, the cats are very lucky to have been spotted outside of ASPCA, hopefully adopted into a safe and loving home.
