Oh I am so sorry to hear that about sweet Lucy!
I saw that you would not want to give her chemo, so maybe after she has had time to recover and you see the vet for next steps, you can ask the vet what treatment would be good for her. Be sure to ask a lot of questions- what type of cancer, is it aggressive, what to expect, what are the various treatment options and what is the cost for each one.

With the vaccine, just make sure in the future that you do not let anyone give your kitties a 3-year shot, and you should ask ahead of time if the vet is using Merial Purevax. This is what I do. Most veterinarians who work with cats a lot, use the Merial purevax brand. Also, unless you let your cats outside a lot, or have many cats coming in and out of your house, you normally do not need to give them a shot every year. The newest thinking is that animal vaccines are a lot like people vaccines, they are good for much longer than one year and you only need to do yearly shots if your pet is at risk of exposure to rabies, distemper, and the other illnesses.

Thanks everyone...
I am still trying to absorb the news... and fighting with lucy to change pads on her wounds...unsuccessfully since she came home. I guess we will have to go through the stress of going to a vet just for that...

Thank you all for your support and advice. I have a feeling Lucy will manage this well. If she fights this cancer half of what she fights me when I try to groom her , cut her nails or take to the vet or give her medicine...then she will be ok...

Ah...anybody can get sick, what matters is to be taken care of during illness and ill make sure she is.

Thanks again.

:*

Oh sugar. That's rotten for both of you. It's a shame he can't give you something light to calm her down a bit during the healing process and all the things you need to do for her. The lady Friday at the vet pops over to cut their claws. It's something I can't do. Talk to your vet about homeopathy. Talk to him seriously. If he is open minded then he should even know of a practicing homeopathic vet. Whatever treatment that would be given would include anything your vet gives. Quite a few years ago my daughter was studying

Homeopathy and one of the things that was done was classes took real people and treated them, for less money of course, with the teacher listening from the other room for help if necessary. They treated me. You have to do a lot of talking about yourself etc. I suffered from bad daily headaches and bleeding hemorrhoids. Well the girl made me a mix approved by the teacher and believe It or not I was pain free from my head to my bottom! For over a year. Unfortunately it then stopped working. But it's well worth looking into it. It may give Sally a better quality of life.
It is strange how each country injects into different places. There's a lot of fat and skin where we do it.
Any case we're all rooting for Lucy. Keep us informed. Kiss Sally on her forehead between the eyes for me please

I think you may be on to something... :cross:.... that Lucy will have just as much fight and drive to carry on as best she can for as long as she can. :cross: You have an excellent attitude as well - and between Lucy's fight and your attitude, I think that is a recipe to fight the good fight. Please keep us updated, we care. :hugs: :rub: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Hi everyone.
Thank you Feralvr.
Lucy is still recovering from the operation. I found a small mini ball under her skin on the chest, very small. I have no idea what it is. I called the vet he said we ahould not do anything about it now. He will see it when he removes Lucy's stitches.

She still limos a bit and how she is full of hairballs. But besides that she seems fine!

Thank you!

I hope you will continue to keep us updated. She seems like such a sweet girl underneath her fear. And she has been so very brave, the same as you have! I hope she will have a long remission after this operation!

I'm glad to hear from you again. You've been very quiet. Did you get the results of the biopsy? She's doing well. Good for her and good for you. Make sure we hear from you again. Soon.

Hi all.

Regards from sleepy Lucy!

No updates really. We should try to go to the vet and remove the stitches this week amd do the vet talk...
Lucy spends 90% of her day sleeping....

She looks fine and doesn't seems to be having any issues but she just sleeps the whole time....gets up to say hi to us and the parrot and get some neck cuddles, then she eats and drinks, hisses and growls at the kottens and then back to sleep. She goes to rhe litter box once a day.

Are there any signs I can look for to tell if she is in pain or discomfort any sort?

Some time ago my daughter asked me what could be causing her friend's cat to scratch so much when she doesn't have fleas. I said she'd probably had had fleas and she's allergic to their spit. After some time she told me that the vet had said the same thing and why should she pay to see a vet when she's got me!

Thanks for the update! I do think sleeping helps them to heal. As long as she is still eating, drinking and using the box, I think it'll just be a gradual recovery one day at a time.

If she stops eating, that's an obvious sign that something is wrong. Cats hide pain so well. The increased sleeping could indicate she is in discomfort, but there's really no telling. I can't remember if you said they gave her anything for pain. I imagine the spot where she had the surgery would be sore.

That is actually a good thing, that she is eating, drinking, and sleeping. Heaven forbid if she were running all over the place with stitches. She will feel like a new girl again in a short while, no matter what she may face ahead.

It is such a good thing that she kept biting at her fur, as if she were telling you that something was very wrong. I am so glad that you stuck with her and made sure she got the help she needed!

I admire you so much. I wouldn't have been able to do all you have done for Lucy. In fact I know 100% for sure I wouldn't have been able to. I'd raise my hat to you if I wore one. Please keep us informed about Lucy.
And please come just to talk.
That would be nice to get to know you.
