Kim,

Sorry I was so distracted when you called. You will be fine, thank God the days of invasive surgeries are pretty much over. My scar from my gall bladder surgery runs from between my breasts slanted across my stomach.

You have definitely been having a time of it. You have my good thoughts and prayers to add to the rest-

Next time we talk, I promise to be more "with it."

I just saw this Kim! Mega "Good surgery vibes" going out to you! It seems like your rolling all your lifelong surgeries into one short period in your life, aren't you??

I've never had any operations so I'm totally squirming at the thought of these operations. I'm such a sissy (that's sissy, not Sicy)

The oreintation went well and I'm convinced this is the way for me to go. I've actually been investigating this for 3 years. I read about all the studies on the BSA site and everything.
My current insurance won't cover it though. So I am going to get a job somewhere that does. I know the University of Utah covers it and I've applied for 11 jobs there.

The only thing I felt sad about was no more diet pepsi.
So I'm starting to give that up now.

mzjazz2u: LOL... You can have diet Pepsi after surgery, you just have to stir the "Fizz" out of it for the first year... Really, I haven't missed "Coke" at all and I used to drink it for breakfast. Everyday... that or Mt. Dew - lol. Actually, I have been eat just about anything, just not a lot of it. Seems like everyone handles it different. Hey, In your research, have you ever happened upon AMOS? I researched on this site for 2 years prior to my surgery. Very informative!

They told us that stirring the soda first is not acceptable and to stay away from it completely. I actually asked them that question because a friend of mine that had the surgery told me she stired her soda or just let it get flat. Probably better if I just give it up anyway. It expands your stomach and I sure don't need that even before the surgery!

I have not checked out that site but I will now. Thanks!

I hope you feel better soon. Don't worry about the scars from the gall bladder surgery I had it done and the scars are very, very small.

Thanks KC65 - I am glad the incisions are so small... At first, I was worried because my current scars are only 3.5 months old and I was wondering if my surgeon will work in the same area... ...Really, I can't wait to just get it over with, lol.

mzjazz2u - it's funny how different each surgeon with their patients. Mine will allow flat drinks but I, too, have read where many surgeons forbid it. I make a conscious effort not to drink anything carbonated just to be on the safe side. The way I understand it is that it is easier to stretch the stoma than it is the pouch. Stretching the stoma can render the surgery useless, requiring a revision (Doesn't that sound Hellish?)
