Hi all my fellow meows,

Just to drop by to say hello. Just been curious and interested in the topics related to cats. I had a kitten myself and would like to have some tips in taking care and get along with my kitten coz my little tiger here is quite aggressive and love to play. I got attacked countless of times. I wonder if I playing with it too much. And not to mention this is the first time I encounter such kitty behavior. Before this, the other cats I have they are more temperate kind of personality - those that likes to explores in the neighborhood at night finding their kitty friends in the neighborhood and come back home in day time to sleep. Unfortunately, they died ; one fell sick all of sudden and died on the way to the nearest vet while the other was poisoned purely accidental by my neighbor. So, after these incidents I become more overprotective towards my pets.

I am wondering is there anything that can help to lessen the stress of cat especially if I tries to forbid he go out of the house a certain time of the day. And also how to read the cat's mood when playing with them. Because often my kitten chasing me around the house without fail and its scary. Besides that, I am also interested in first aids of taking care of injuries/poison/sickness before sending them to vets. Cause pre-care will lessen the damage of certain unfortunate events onto the cats health and well being. Also, I am interested in homemade recipe so that I can make some nicer and healthier food for my cat.

I am not so sure what to include in this post but I hope to get along with all of you here! Good Day Everyone! XD

These are my proud younger siblings! XD

Hello SkyeYoung and welcome to TCS!

What gorgeous babies you have

And loads of questions, which is great.  Could I suggest you have a look through some of our articles?  They're at:

http://www.thecatsite.com/atype/45/Cat_Care

and you'll find more on other topics if you look at the tabs on the top.

But specifically.. if you want to lessen the stress of your pussycats, then play, play, play!  They just love to play with you and it keeps them active and learning.  They chase you around the house as they're playing with you

You'll find articles on cat nutrition on the link I sent, and also in masses of threads here http://www.thecatsite.com/f/64/cat-nutrition  and you can also start your own thread with specific questions.

Enjoy!

Your earlier cats were allowed to go outside, but your cat of today is inside, to keep it safer yes?

A good tip is to get it a cat companion to play with...

As he is playiing a lotsa with you now.

It is usually easier to have two cats than just one, esp if they are inside only...

If they are allowed to go out, they can usually spend most of their energy outside.  Although they also take great risks there, as you noticed.

Good luck!

Hi StefanZ

Yes, the other two adults were allowed to go out because they are strays previously before they ended up at my home. They are more traffic wiser than then current kitten and not to mention stranger cautious. Not to scare you guys but my housing area alot of people are eyeing for kittens. Previously, I let my kitten play in front of my porch and almost got kidnapped. This is also a reason I kept him indoors. Sometimes, there is a stray to which up until now I could not invite him over to play comes over to socialize with my kitten, however, he is too scare of people so usually stay away from me. except trying to sniff my kitten.  I do play alot with my kitten, I just scare it could be not enough. I sew plushies for my kitten to play as well, not sure whether it helps but he loves it. XD I adopts only strays. The kitten currently residing with me is from a friend's friend whom pet give birth to but unable to keep him. So, he is kinda protected up until now.

Thanks for the guidances! XD

Hi Mani,

Thanks for the tips. I will look up onto it. Yea, it not only drain his hidden energy, it makes me exercise as well
. Meanwhile, I took out some of the handmade plushies and gave them to him to play. It works for temporary relief.

Thanks!

Hello Skye. Welcome. Your younger siblings all look really cute . I joined a couple of days ago and learning so much.  I used to have 2 girl cats and when they were young they ran off most of their energy with each other and just played with me when they wanted different company. As they got older ended up one of them bullied the other so I decided only to get 1 cat  afterwards. My cats have always been indoors as I live in a flat and couldn't believe how different it was just having 1. Mouse is now 2 and always ready for play. He's quickly bored of games and toys so I have to change things round and I can't leave him for more than a day in the house on his own as then he's all anxious when I come back - like wanting me to kneel on the floor so he can crawl under me and get cuddled for ages.  Like BitBit, he runs around after me. If I'm standing near something high up he jumps up to my shoulders to get there. I have to play lots with him so he relaxes and sleeps. If I don't respond to his invitations to play and run off his energy he finds more and more ways to get my attention, starting with cute and ending with biting (thankfully his last resort). I have to be really creative. Looked loads on line and in books for ideas but never found much until I got to this site. I bought SO many toys but mostly he goes for the stuff he finds around the house......

Things we get up to:

Fishing rod toys, ribbon and string to get him running around on the floor or on top of the bed -short bursts of running then wait while he rests so not over excited and panting away.  (Can't leave out anything with string, ribbon or elastic as he chews and eats them)

Toy mice, balls and feather toys to throw and play fetch with. Also hide them around the house with just a tail or bit showing so he can hunt them. Swap toys about and change the hiding places.

Running around the house playing hide and seek behind doors and furniture - him hiding first then me, then swap over until he tires of it.

Rolled up paper balls to throw and chase after

Paper aeroplanes for him to leap up at and chew when caught

A scratching post with a good view of outside so he can keep an eye on the world outside

Big and small boxes to hide in and chew on

Paper bags to hide in, and jump in to if I throw his biscuits in

Feed him his dry food and treats by throwing like toys around the room so he chases after them and plays before he eats them

If I'm going out for a long time I leave some of his biscuits hidden around the home so he can hunt for them

And so it goes on.

More ideas ALWAYS welcome! I like to think he's a happy cat as his fabby long tail is almost always straight up and there's a spring in his paws and want to keep him that way.

Good luck and let me know of any new games you come up with!
