Calli blue just started this meds.thank for the info about putting kit down her tough
Actually, Denosyl is a pure, patented, uniform, bioavailable, and stable salt of S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe).

SAMe is what's causing vomiting.

Denamarin combines a pure and stabilized S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) with silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex.

There is SAMe in both supplements.

That's why, when there is vomiting, one has to get away from SAMe and use milk thistle.

Milk thistle:

Why don't you start by giving us some back ground about your cat and why the cat is on this medicine.

Helen, you sent me a PM and I told you let's discuss your cat in this thread. Would you please give us some background information about your cat. How old is the cat. What has happened to him why the vet has put him on Denamarin. As I also told you, you first posted in my thread about Muffin andI moved your questions to a separate thread so our members could help you.

To answer your question to me about how is my cat now. He is still alive and is 14 years old. From early on, when he first had a blood panel done, his ALT was much higher than normal. In 2010, the vet decided to try him on this medicine to see if it would help bring his liver ALT down. He started acting lethargic. I thought he was mourning the loss of his sidekick cat, Speedboat who we had just lost in January. Soon though Muffin began to vomit.. At first the vet and I didn't think it was the Denamarin that was causing it. We stopped it after a while and Muffin got better. We decided since the high liver ALT was the only symptom we saw and Muffin felt good, we were going to leave him alone. HIs liver ALT went back up to about the same range where it had always been. Recently the vet decided since he was doing so well to try him on a supplement for his liver which only included the SAM-E like Denosyl. It does not have milk thistle. We thought he was tolerating it well, but his appetite soon fell off and that is when we noticed weight loss. We took him off that supplement and are trying to get him going again now by increasing his steroid which he has been on since last May.

Last year in May, it was determined by x-ray that he had an abdominal mass. The vet did surgery and removed a tumor from the end of one of his liver lobes. It was a primary cancer. He got well from his surgery. He was diagnosed with thyroid issues at the same time of his surgery and takes medicine for that. He also has a history of urinary crystals, for which he has always been fed prescription cat food from the vet office. We are struggling now with weight loss and some appetite issues. Honestly we just take one day at the time with him and love him as much as possible. His surgery was a good thing because it gave him almost a year of good life.

Sorry this was long, but you asked about him. Now please post here about your cat.

Helen, please, let us know what kind of tests your kitty has had and how elevated the liver enzymes are. They can become elevated for several reasons, so finding the real cause is absolutely essential for finding the best treatment options.

Possible causes of elevated liver enzymes can include the following:

Poisoning/Toxicity hepatitis
Cholangiohepatitis
Lymphocytic cholangitis
Acute pancreatitis
Glucocorticoid use
Hypoxia
Hepatic neoplasia

I did not post in 2010.She just got sick in dec 2012.She has had two CBC and a lot of over blood work and a ultersound that says she is fine. She was doing fast breathing and throwing up.Her vet stop that but she could not take the liver chews. They cause her to throw up again. She is on this med I told every body about and I have to put it down her thought it to hard to give it in cat food. She has had a chest x-ray too. Her levels are 131. I was told it not that high.If you don't know her you would think she is not sick.We know cats should not have fast breathing if they are not sick.Plus liver levels.Since the ultersound they are not doing much but this new meds. She has not been out side since we have had her and she was 4 mths at the time.I don't remember her ever having a CBC until now.

Helen what were her symptoms when she first got sick in December. If her blood work was fine except for a slightly high liver reading and the ultrasound showed nothing, I am not sure I would treat it with Denamarin. Is she eating and drinking now and has the throwing up stopped.

She got over that and has been well till Friday. She fell out of her at sit and was dizzy.I took her to they vet again and they ran a lot of blood wk and X-rays and are saying she has a brain problem. We have been giving her revelation and this came on yesterday. They kept her last night and told us to give her the antiflamot Meds and she if we could get her to eat.She ate as soon as we got home.We were told to keep her in one room and not let her jump because she now has a balance problem. She does not want to jump.We were told to bring her back on Monday. They thought she would do better at home.We don't have brain Drs here for cats and they say we have to wait and she how she does. They think she got this before we got her.We got her at three months and she does not go outside.I can unstand how she could have gotten a worm in her brain when she was that young and now have a problem.
