Did the do a UA.  He could very well have crystals which could lead to "blocked tom".

Visited him tonight for about 45mins.  I can't say he looks good but he's alive.  The vet is satisfied with how he's doing but not thrilled.  He's holding down his food and medicine and his liver enzyme levels are down to normal as is his blood sugar, but his protein levels are low.  He's also not acting like he's feeling any better.  He keeps his head down the entire time and his eyes are half closed with the third eyelid showing.  He's also very swollen everywhere.

When we showed up, he perked up a little bit and just stood at the end of the kennel purring really weakly and keeping his head on my girlfriends forehead like he does when he's at home.  So I'm glad he recognized us.  They are going to gradually up his food intake and hope that helps his protein levels.  They are also hoping he shakes the "depressed" look.  We will be back tomorrow to see how he's doing.

Awww poor booboo..... Poor little baby :(
Well, I imagine it's expected for him to be feeling this way... He is not only pretty sick, but just went through a hugely traumatic experience- poor baby must feel like he was hit by a truck :(
He got his belly opened up and turned up side down, that's pretty major... Great news though that his liver numbers are back to Normal, and so is his sugar  awesome that he is keeping food down too.... Everything is on the right path for recovery :cross:
Tomorrow when you visit him, take a (very) used t-shirt, yours and your girlfriend's, to leave it there with him... If he has a favorite toy, or little pillow, or something from home he loves, take it too.... It will make his stay there a little easier....
I really do think he is going to be alright hun, he has been through a lot, and he is on a strange place, away from home, all drugged up... He isn't happy, and yes, he is depressed.... But he hasn't thrown up, his numbers are leveling, what was causing the inflammation is out of his body, he is being medicated.... :cross: from now on its going to be just going up on the road for recovery :vibes:

I forgot to tell you what he ate.

A god damn rubber door stopper end.  The springy ones.  He pulled it off and swallowed it.

What a handsome guy!  It sounds like hes on the right track.  I second everything Carolina said (she said it better than I couldve anyway). Just wanted to offer you my support too.  Im so glad you stuck with treatment, and got it figured out.  Rubber door stopper huh? wow.

Sounds like he is doing OK given he has had major surgery and been very ill prior to it.  Hopefully he can be home very soon - most cats do much better in familiar surroundings.  His reaction to your girlfriend is encouraging.

LOL, he's funny in those pictures! That depressed look worries me, along with the third eyelid. They need to get some food in him asap. I hope they are definitely doing that today. I think he needs more visits from you guys if possible. he needs a reason to fight!

The feeding tube means they should have no problem doing so, and he's not vomitting it up now.  Personally I think he will perk up at home, looking at the way he's responding to the OP's girlfriend - he's so pleased to see her.  Until he can leave then yes, lots of visits.

I adore your pictures of him when he is healthy! So sweet and wonderful, and a very gorgeous boy!!

I think my boy Toby is similar to your boy in some ways, he is very crazy and wonderful, but when he is sick he definitely gets freaked out and he definitely wants his attention. I also think your visits and nurturing are very important to him and it is really great that you have been there for him.

He has been through a huge trauma, my guess is he is hanging his head down because he has the tubing and dressing around his neck and he feels too out of it to try and lift his head.

The third eye showing makes me think he is still on painkillers and anti-nausea meds. I am still praying for him. I think he has a huge will to live and if anyone can make it, he can.

On our way to see him again.  He might be coming home with us.  The doc called and was happy with how he is progressing.  His blood work looks normal now with the exception of the still low protein but it is recovering slowly.  They are going very slow with food because he hasn't eaten in so long combined with the stomach trauma AND the pancreatitis.  This is the most competent vet hospital I've ever seen.  I'm amazed with them.

She is confident he can come home today but we are going to make the decision when we see him.  If he still looks like yesterday we might opt for one more night.  On the other hand, we have passed $4k and are rapidly running low on money.  We will see and I'll update as soon as I can.

Thank you all for your concern!
