Today's breakfast went pretty darn good :woo:!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been sneaking in the NV Rabbit in the four PsIMA breakfast. Doesn't work for Pipsqueak - he won't eat it with the canned. He enjoys his NVO chicken upstairs on china :lol3: Presley, Perkins and Perla do need the help of some Fortiflora to get started. Today, I dropped the packet of Fortiflora on Perla's food :thud: It practically emptied out in a pile on top of her food :doh3: I couldn't believe it. WELL the :princess: thought she HIT THE JACKPOT  I have never seen her eat so damn fast in my life AND she is a fast eater when she is hungry. Her dainty and delicate :princess: manners go right out the window when she is hungry. OH GOODNESS!!!!! She devoured her meal and licked her plate clean to make sure she got ALL of that Fortiflora. SO she had a great meal today. I really hope I am not starting another problem and I have a feeling I am - the Fortiflora. I just don't know how else to get those PsIMA to eat raw downstairs - without the help of fortiflora. Upstairs - they eat the raw just fine. Although, Presley has been a finicky boy about it lately. I have FINGER'S CROSSED and TOES CROSSED that the Rad Cat I get from Carolina and/or the other varieties of meats will be a bit hit :cross: :cross: :cross: :cross:

Walden and Wendall had NV Lamb ( I am trying to get RID of that bag - just a few more medallions to go boys :rub:) and NM Turkey. :rub: :heart3: :rub: :heart3: I am going to make an appointment with Dr. Mark for Wendall for next week. His coughing has come back and I need another opinion. We will do more bloodwork, another few xrays, and maybe even an ultrasound depending on what the xrays show. I will pull up his thread in Health when I get his appointment scheduled. I am worried about my little man - I love him so much. :heart3: :heart3: :heart3: :heart3: He is really a silly, funny, odd little man. :rub:

Upstairs - Presley wanted NO raw today. But he did eat some mixed in with the canned downstairs today with the help of the Fortiflora  Pipsqueak and Perkins each has about 1 1/2 ounce of NM Turkey and NVO Chicken mixed together. I am desperately trying to get them off of the NV products because of the bones. They did detect the NM Turkey but still licked away at the meat little by little. I have to keep putting the NVO chicken on top of the NM Turkey to get them going again. I am really enjoying this though, I love the time I spend with the babies and trying to get them to eat this raw meat. It doesn't stress me out anymore when they don't want to eat the meat - :D - We just try again later  I am enjoying this and feel lucky to be able to have the time each day to be able to do the raw. It IS very time consuming. Plus having Wilbur - he usually takes almost 30 minutes each morning just for his meals - hand-feeding or whatever he needs.

OH!!!!!!!! Last night was Chicken Thigh night. A big hit again. NOT PERLA :flail: - she prefers Chicken Breast  Easier to hide in her food and not as tough to eat. AND won't get stuck in her teeth :lol2:

Yeah.... I need to take your approach of not stressing.... I do get too stressed out sometimes.... Like yesterday :hide: I guess I just need to relax an realize they will take their time no matter what, stressing out or not.... Nothing that can be done about it.... We just need to go with the flow and make the best out of it.... Hoping that one day they will be 100% easy breezy carnivores :cross:

HT meats are arriving today....... meaning your box is leaving Monday :hyper:
I will buy your stuff on PSP tomorrow - I let you know :bigthumb: :clap::clap:

Oh poor :princess: Perla. Any time I read about you feeding fresh chicken, I'm going to have that image in my head, even if SHE is eating breast! :flail:

So, Lauren, when you feed chicken thighs (and breasts for the Diva), how are you doing that?  Are you mixing cutting into little pieces and mixing with their canned, or what?  Or do you take them upstairs and feed separately, like after breakfast?  Sorry, I forget if you've already gone thru this routine!  Just looking for hints !

:woohoo: YEP YEP YEP!!!!!!!!!!!! I have finally come to this exact attitude towards raw feeding. I was getting SO upset in the beginning of this process - so much pressure on me and so much pressure on the cat's as well. I realized - the truth of the matter - SO WHAT IF THEY DON'T EAT RAW AT 100% - NO BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully, as you say so perfectly - :cross: Maybe one day they will be 100% easy breezy carnies :cross: But UNTIL that day - I refuse to get worked up anymore. It is just not worth it. I am just happy that the four PsIMA are at least eating 50% OR MORE raw a day :woohoo: Better than none at all

OH sure - Sally - ask away..... I think we all have a different approach for each cat. It is just ridiculous :lol3: OK - for Perla - she will not eat the Chicken Thigh fresh meat. It is too tough for her and honestly that "Diva" :princess: has NO clue on how to chew. :sigh: I just can't believe it. I guess it is just toooooooo much work for her OR she just thinks there is something wrong and spits it out. SO for Perla - she get the Chicken Breast fresh meat. I buy it at Costco - the organic chicken. I do break it up in tiny pieces - much smaller than pea size. The chicken breast is easy to "smoosh" up in my finger's and break apart where as the chicken thigh - I have a much harder time breaking it up and pulling it apart with my finger's. I serve her about t one teaspoon of chicken breast all broken up in teeny pieces. I mix it right in with about 1 1/2 ounce of Weruva Paw Lickin shredded chicken. She gobbles it all up. I am slowing adding a little more chicken breast day by day - but very slowly. I have learned that if I go too fast - I end up paying the price :nothappy:

I have to do the same thing for Pipsqueak - but even smaller pieces  Pipsqueak is NOT a fresh meat eater - yet.... I am hopeful. I just need to find a "topper" that he will go nuts for. So far- I have had no luck with a topper for Pipsqueak. Believe it or not - he hates WL and Halo - in fact anything FD - he hates :frusty: Even Fortiflora - he cringes at  But he will eat the chicken breast IF it is so minuscule and just mixes right in with the canned that he can't even notice it. The cat's DO like the meat - it does not have that "off" smell that commercial raw does. I just think some of them don't know HOW to eat fresh meat chunks. So start small. :)

The other four boy's will eat the fresh meat right from my hand, from a plate, or mixed in with canned. They are learning to chew like champs. Walden and Wendall, of course, from day one already knew how to chew. I keep begging them to have a talk with the other's and fill them in on how to be an "obligate carnivore" like they were born to be :lol2:

Another good start to our day over here :jump: :stpat: :clover: !!!!!!!!!! Happy St. Patty's Day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clover:

NV Rabbit is getting more popular with Perkins - he actually ate some off the china after breakfast today :bigthumb: Presley needs Fortiflora  Pipsqueak will not try the rabbit YET. He used to love it when I started them on raw end of January :dk:.... I will keep getting his sense of smell used to it. I think that is half the battle with these four PsIMA. IF it is something that register's in their brain as "familiar" - then they will try it. It just takes awhile to get their brain to work :flail:

A quick :princess: report :lol3:.. I mixed the NV Rabbit in with Tiki Cat shredded Salmon/Chicken ( a bigtime new favorite wet food ) I apparently did not get all of the bones out of the rabbit - try as I might - I do miss a few :nervous: I was monitoring Perla eating her breakfast. I heard the typical "plink" of a bone being spit out onto her plate. :cringe: I knew that would be it for her..... She took a step back from her plate and stared at the plate in complete awe for a few seconds. I was just standing there waiting for the fallout. She slowly and methodically turned to look at me with such antipathy :nono: and disgust - and then took off :dash: never to return. :flail: OH let me tell you guys....... there is not ONE day that goes by that Perla does not make me laugh. Let's hope dinner will go better - I will be sure to completely de-bone that NV rabbit. I am adding a little rabbit to everyone's meal - in the hopes that, again, they will acclimate to the smell and just think it is "normal" :cross:

Oh :princes: Perla!

I'm sorry Lauren - I couldn't help but laugh! Chum spits out some bones too, but it doesn't stop him from eating, thank goodness. But as much as I love to hear them chewing, I dread those "plinks." I know they're fine, and if they eat those pieces they'll pass just fine if they don't get digested... but I don't like missing chunks big enough I could have easily removed them. :anon:

A BIG HUGE SIGH for today :sigh: :sigh: :sigh: Not a good day over here - and it has made my day a real bummer and I feel down in the dumps because of the fussies. Mostly Pipsqueak and Perla :argh: Presley will eat but only with the help of Fortiflora - otherwise - he will :hide: and :walk: away!!!!!!!!!!! Most days I can just brush it off and go on and keep trying. But today, those two were even refusing WET FOOD :thud:..... I felt like screaming out FINE FINE FINE..... HERE HERE HERE...... A BIG BOWL OF KIBBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :stomp: :yelling: I will get over it - but it upsets me so when I know they are hungry and just being SO damn picky. It is one of those days. :nothappy: I am hoping that they will make up for the lose of calories at the bedtime meal. Perla will be offered the S&C FD Duck and Pipsqueak will be offered Tiki Cat Succulent Chicken and NVO chicken. I have some thawing. I thought I would try the rabbit today for Pipsqueak. Just a total refusal no matter what. He is really addicted to the NVO Chicken :sigh: It just seems hopeless and I am tired, frustrated and stressed over those two. I know I should take my own advice that I have given other's lately - to just keep trying and keep at it and expect the setbacks, BLAH BLAH BLAH I am just  sick of the setbacks. :frusty: :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

I am seriously keeping finger's crossed for the Rad Cat that is coming in a few days. Very nervous at the same time. I am feeling that IF these other meat's don't work well for them, I am getting near the end of this with them. Thank goodness for Walden, Wendall and even Perkins :D - yep - Perkins is eating "almost" as good as those other two carnies :bigthumb: SO that is at least some good news. OK I can muster up a clap or two..... :lol3:

Hun, I can only offer you hugs and more hugs...... :hugs: and tons and tons of vibes for them to love, love love Rad Cat :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
It was, I can say, IS a staple meat here, they just love it..... It made my transition much easier..... Even for Lucky, the kibble addict, that's how she started eating raw.... I should never gotten out of it... :sigh:
Let's hope they love it..... Lamb is adored by them here - they lick the bowl clean every time.....
And yes, you can count on me to be your distributor if they like it :lol3::lol3::lol3:
I know how frustrating it is..... Lucky drives me up the walls sometimes.... I just decided to let her have it her way though..... Otherwise she will either :barf: starve, or I will end up in a loony bin :stars: :lol3: None of them sound like reasonable outcomes to me :flail:
So.... Little by little we get there - hopefully before a year :thud:

Must be something in the air, because yesterday was a big bust over here too.  And, so far, today is too.  I'm so depressed.  Except for Sven, no one is eating well.  So I didn't even bother trying to give them raw this morning.   Tried two different cans this morning, and barely any interest at all from the other three, not even with tripe
.  But thank goodness that my Svennie is still eating like a champ!

My order from PFD should be here tomorrow, and am hoping maybe just the change in canned food will perk everyone up (Weruva and BFF, which I can't find locally...I'm sure someone must have it, but not that I have found)

Oh, I DO have some chicken chunks thawing, because absolutely no one seems interest at all in any of the flavors of NM.  Bummer.  Plus maybe Wednesday we'll make it over to the place that sells Radcat, but I'm seriously thinking about just trying to go straight to Frankenprey.  I don't know...just having a bad day.  DH is on a downhill cycle too, so feeling the pressure here.  (Sorry, just needing to "vent")

Guess I should have posted all this on my OWN thread, rather than yours!!
Maybe I'll just cut and paste it over there

I think that was what REALLY did me in yesterday and why I was so upset and depressed. The fact that those two would not even eat the canned food. I ended up opening up at least THREE different types of canned foods for them - all of which they refused throughout the day. BUT BUT - bedtime meal was fairly well taken by them - thank goodness. I could go to bed knowing they had something in their tummies.

Don't worry.... I won't keep you guys waiting and in suspense. Will be trying Rad Cat either Wednesday night OR Thursday morning :paranoid: :nervous: :para2:

No worries, Sally :lol3: We all use each other threads - that is what they are for after all!!!! We love to vent, ramble on, complain, jump for joy, and share GREAT NEWS..... any where we can  :D

I just know I am not ready for full-time FP - I know four of my six will eat the fresh cut-up chicken - but Perla and Pipsqueak have no clue about the meat and have no desire to chew and eat the raw meat. I have to mush it up almost to a pulp for them to even eat it by mistake in their wet food. I am not pushing to FP anytime soon but enjoy giving some fresh meat with the dinnertime meal. Still working on 100% raw with the four PsIMA. :lol2:

MUCH BETTER DAY TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The :princess: was HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPO!!!!!! :high5: She ate about 1 1/2 ounce of NV rabbit mixed in with about 1 ounce of BFF  That is a lot of food all at once and she ate fast. I can't believe I have no vomiting out of her when she devours her food like that. But she never does vomit!!! I am SO grateful for that!!!! Everyone ate very, very well this morning. Started my day off completely on the right foot as compared to yesterday's disaster. Pipsqueak was a champ and ate almost 2 ounces of NVO chicken upstairs on the china. :lol3: Even Presley joined in this morning along with Perkins. They each had about 1 ounce each.

My two full-time carnies had NV Lamb and NV Rabbit - totaling 1 1/2 ounce for each of them. A GREAT MORNING which I needed so badly - THANK YOU BABIES :rub: :rub: :rub: :rub: :rub: :rub: !!!!!!!!!!!

:ref: :ref: :ref: OINK ALERT!!!!!! Weigh-in Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ref: :ref: :ref:

The MOMMA has spoken :tribe: NO MORE :cheese: :jerry: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I shouldn't be so worried anymore about anyone :hide: missing a meal here and there. I think I have to realize that I might be pushing toooooo much food over here and that in itself will make me relax more when there are refusals - AND I don't have to make their meals SO large anymore. I tend to overfeed pets. :anon:

These weights are one month apart. From February 20 to March 19.

PERLA - 2/20 11.4 lbs. 3/19 - 12.4 lbs. (GAINED ONE POUND!!!!!) :ref:
PIPSQUEAK - 2/20 11 lbs. 3/19 11.6 lbs. (gained 6 ounces)
PERKINS - 2/20 13.8 lbs. 3/19 14.4 lbs. (gained 12 ounces!!!!!!!!!!!!) :ref:
PRESLEY - 2/20 13 lbs. 3/19 13.8 lbs. (gained 8 ounces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) :ref:
WALDEN - 2/20 13.6 lbs 3/19 14.2 lbs. (gained 12 ounces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) :ref: :ref: :nono:
WENDALL - 2/20 13 lbs. 3/19 13.4 lbs, (gained 4 ounces)

I knew Walden was looking bigger and I have to do something about that. He is getting about 4.5 ounces a day. I guess that is WAY too much. Wendall also needs to lose about a pound. :nervous: I guess I need to cut them both back to about 3.5 ounces a day. I better keep watch on those two boys. Also Perkins - although he really doesn't look fat to me. BUT Presley - he does look bigger.

Now I understand WHY these cat's (except Walden/Wendall) have been backing off food and just staring at their bowls at some meals :doh3: :dunce: They were trying to tell me that they are JUST NOT HUNGRY!!!!!! What I think is "pickiness" might really just be :ref: NOT HUNGRY MOM!!!!!!!!!!! I am over-feeding them. This will make my job much easier from now on. I don't have to fix SO much food at each meal time. This also gives me some confidence to push more raw on them  and not worry so :eek:hno: that they will lose weight (which they should anyway - except Pipsqueak :rub:). I bet then I will have plate cleaners to brag about :woohoo:

OMG, oink alert is right!  You little princess gained a whole pound
.  And half the reason I convinced DH we should go raw was because I said it would regulate their weight
.  Seems I fibbed a little there, doesn't it?  Oh well, better to gain at first than to lose, I'm thinking.

Careful with pushing more raw to lose weight - it just might not work the way you intend
Every time Lucky goes from kibble to raw, even if she eats little..... she gains! And we are talking from EVO! :lol3:
All of them porked up once they went on raw here...... Maybe my cats are aliens :shocker:

One of my kitties (Tabbs) has always been slim. Really slim. Since I started offering some raw (she's feral-born and took to it right away) she has seriously porked up . I haven't weighed her (picking her up is iffy), but the weight gain is obvious. Probably a pound. Maybe she just never liked kibble and canned? :lol3: She's the only one who's gained weight, though.
