I suggest you read or listen to this neurosurgeon/s information on excitotoxins. Neurotoxins ARE a 'big deal'.

Tiki seems to be 'hiding something'. They refuse to divulge what ingredients make up the consomme. Went thru the 2007 pet food disaster and that refusal does not sit well with me.

Hello,
I am new in the search of carrageenan , guar gum and grain free for my fussy cat. Been feeding him wellness chicken so far...

Seriously considering to switch him to raw food, but afraid he won't take to it...

I just bought weruva, natures variety etc to try and noticed that weruva is actually made in Thailand - that one goes back to the store. Plenty of meat in Canada or USA to not have to import whatever quality from elsewhere...

Got a sample of raw frozen - so hoping he'll like it.... Any advice on how to switch fussy cats food?
Weruva is made on a Human Grade facility with the same checks and balances. Tuna for Subways comes from same plant. It is one of the healthiest pet foods on market.

My cat is now 16 years old and weighs it in 11 pounds which is his normal and optimum body weight. All his life he's been a dry food kibble addict. But, even though he's a kibble addict, he's finicky on what kinds of dry food kibble he'll eat.

Long story short, my vet wanted him on a grain free, has meat, has to have taurine,  no veges, no fruit, no gluten, no soy, no carrageenan wet canned food diet. Problem was, my cat didn't like wet canned food. He also turned down raw, dehydrated, freeze dried, air dried and every brand of wet cat food that I could find that didn't have carrageenan in it. With wet, he didn't like pate, shreds, sliced or chunks. It was a "no go" with little enthusiasm or outright rejection within two weeks time.

Met a lady at Petsmart who has a cat like mine. She tried Nutro Natural Choice in the sliced and minced flavors. The only not so good ingredient in it is xanthan gum. But, has meat, grain free, no veges, no fruits, no soy, no gluten, no carrageenan and it does contain taurine. She told me to get one can for a "taste test" for him and see if he'd like it.

I tried one flavor on my cat, minced chicken and when I opened the can, he was very vocal about it. He wanted it........NOW! He ate 1 1/2 ounces before I took it away since he was gobbling it down.

The only draw back, it does contain xanthan gum. I'm not a fan of xanthan gum, but beggars can't be choosers since it meets all of my criteria for him with this one exception. Some of the soft loaf (pate) flavors do contain carrageenan, but not all of them do. No matter, my cat won't touch pate.

These are 3 ounce cans so it's perfect for a person who has one cat. It normally costs $1.10 per can, but Petsmart sometimes has it on sale for $.90-$1.00 per can and when it does, I stock up by the case load (24 cans).

My cat loves the sliced turkey, minced chicken and sliced chicken & tuna flavors. The turkey is his absolute favorite and he's been on wet canned food now for almost three months. I feed him between 1 1/2-2 cans daily. I think he likes these flavors since they contain pork broth in every minced and sliced flavor. None of the other wet canned brand foods I tried contained pork broth. Just a calculated guess on my part since he likes NNC and no other brand of wet canned cat food.

BTW, if you have to put some leftovers in the fridge, the gravy does not turn white when you take it out the next time or the next morning.

Check out the website below. Look at the minced and sliced flavors of Nutro Natural Choice wet canned cat food and check out the ingredients.

That's been on my rotation along with prides rockstar rabbit and diva duck.

The BEST brands are none-of-the-ones above.

The BEST two without carrageenan and gums and other excitotoxins are:

FirstMate and Lotus

Please check out their websites and get any cat having seizures on one of them asap.

Important note: please share this info if you know any one with a cat having seizures.

Blue buffalo does have Carrageenan.  Follow your own link and look at their ingredient list it's list along with Guar Gum.

All Newman's Own canned cat food has Carrageenan and Weruva has guar gum.

My cats prefer the Soulistic (made by Weruva for Petco) better than the actual Weruva. The Soulistic has all white meat chicken in a broth like gravy that the princesses prefer. The 2 flavors I buy are the Good Karma and the Harvest Sunrise which is the Good Karma with bits of pumpkin added. Neither one has guar gum on the label although they both contain tapioca starch and xanthan gum. I do not buy the Soulistic foods in gelee. They have different ingredients. They have a number of different flavors but I steer clear of fish flavors except for every now and then.

Soulistic Good Karma Chicken Dinner Adult Canned Cat Food in Gravy
5.5 oz.; Good Karma Chicken; Case of 8
Water Sufficient For Processing, Chicken, Tapioca Starch, Sunflower Seed Oil, Tricalcium Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Nicotinic Acid (Vitamin B3), Ferrous Sulfate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Manganese Sulfate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Copper Sulfate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement.

Soulistic Harvest Sunrise Chicken & Pumpkin Dinner Adult Canned Cat Food in Gravy
5.5 oz.; Case of 8
Water Sufficient For Processing, Chicken, Pumpkin, Tapioca Starch, Sunflower Seed Oil, Spinach, Tricalcium Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Nicotinic Acid (Vitamin B3), Ferrous Sulfate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Manganese Sulfate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Copper Sulfate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement.

An example of the food in gelee and the difference in ingredients:

Soulistic Aromatic Chicken Chicken Dinner Adult Canned Cat Food in Gelee
5.5 oz.; Aromatic Chicken; Case of 8
Water Sufficient For Processing, Chicken, Sunflower Seed Oil, Locust Bean Gum, Tricalcium Phosphate, Carrageenan, Guar Gum, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Nicotinic Acid (Vitamin B3), Ferrous Sulfate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K), Vitamin B12 Supplement.

You really do need to read ALL labels. Even if it's the same brand. I almost picked up some of these as Petco often has Soulistic on sale. I did read the ingredients and any of the foods in gelee went right back on the shelf.

Instinct canned food is THE BEST for ingredients! NO neurotoxins - no  toxins - a bit pricey, but your cats are worth a healthy food - I have 11 on this and a not quite a month old kitten that will be on this also when the time comes... right now she is on KMR....

We have been feeding them the Instinct for over a year with recommendations from this website :-) They are now getting picky and I may change it up a bit to give them some variety. I am looking at the FROMM brand of canned food.

I would  rather change the flavor instead of the brand, they have several ... also, adding good tuna once in awhile changes up the bordom if it sets in - or canned chicken  ...no broth in either. Some tuna says 'in water; , but if broth is added in that - that is a glutamate additive....a neurotoxin.

...I pulled up pne flavor of FROMM to check ingredients ---- right off the bat is BROTH.....that means glutamate neurotoxins.... sounds innocent but it is a neurotoxin --- think MSG.

We have been using Instinct canned pork flavor once in awhile and the cats seem to really like it. I was told today by the place we get it that it is being discontinued. They have the Instinct Limited Ingredient pork flavor, but on looking at the ingredients the third one is Pork Broth. Should this be something I should be concerned about? Also the Pride by Instinct Rockstar Rabbit's first ingredient is Pork Broth, again, should this be a concern?

Thanks in advance for advice :)
