Do you like your name?

My name is Pamela Sue. Overall, it's not too bad, I guess. When I was born, my mother wanted to call me Janet LeJeune because I was born on the Camp LeJeune marine base in North Carolina. When Mom told me I cringed....Janet LeJeune? Good grief! Sounds like a stripper or something. Somehow, after that, Pamela Sue didn't seem so terrible.

To this day, when Mom is really mad at me, she'll say "Pamela Sue!" and I know I'm in trouble for something.

So....what's your name and do you like it??

Mine is Brandy Marlene....

I used to HATE it, now I don;t mind Brandy so much but I hate the name Marlene (it's my Mom's name).

I find Brandy is a little young sounding, I am only 28 right now but I can't imagine being 60 and having a name like Brandy

I hate my name. I go by the nickname that an old boyfriend gave me, Elle. (It's part of my first name) Nobody can even pronounce my first name correctly. My middle name was also a real pain while growing up-it's Rhonda. Hello? The beach boys were popular and I still hear that song in my sleep.

My favorite name is Mommy, though.

Guess guess what my name is?
Yes, I love it.... When I was little I used to hate it because there where many Carolinas around - when my mom Called "Carolina", a bunch of kids would turn!
Now I grew to love it - but I like to be called (pronunciation) the Brasilian way "Caroleena" , not the American way "Carolaina".... Some people call me "Catalina" because of the way I pronounce the "r" - I find it funny

My given name is Cathy; my parents gave my sister (Holly) and I names which couldn't be shortened. For some reason my name in my high school senior high school yearbook was printed as "Catherine", which really bugged me! To answer the original question, I do like my name.

Yvonne..

I didn't like my name at first, and it didn't get until my later teens until I changed my mind, now I like it because it's unique and I get a lot of comments on it, like "Wow that's a beautiful name!" & it makes me feel good

I don't hate my name, but I'm annoyed at how common it is.

On my soccer team, I was known as "big Chris" since there were four of us just on ONE team... Its to the point that if someone yells Chris in a crowd, I just ignore it.

At work I introduce myself by my last name and prefer to be called as such by most people, since we have three Chris there as well.

As an atheist, its also ironic to have a name that means "bearing Christ".

So what's your name, resqchick and what's your last name, Chris?

Rumpelstilzchen.

I'm Anna Loree. I love my name Loree is pronounced luh-REE, not LOR-ee. Loree is also my mom's middle name, it was the name of the nurse my grandma had when she was giving birth to my mom. Not sharing my last name of course, but it's pretty unique as my family is German, and if I ever get married I'm keeping the whole dang thing, middle name and last name! Because of my relationship with my family, my name means a lot to me and I'd never give it up for any reason.

To my family and everyone I grew up with and in high school, I'm known as Annie. In college I started going by my birth name, Anna, and that's what I use exclusively now, though I don't require anyone to make the switch from Annie to Anna. Annie is cute on some women but I didn't think it was so cute on me, lol.

I had a friend whose name was Christopher and he started going by Topher since the religious meanings of Chris really bothered him. Lucky for me (I'm also an atheist), Anna is a veeeeery obscure biblical name that no one really recognizes as such.

No, I don't really like my name. It's Mariya. Although I am glad the spelling is unique, I too am an atheist and I don't really like that it has religious significance, to a point where there have been times when after introducing myself people have said to me, "that's a great Christian name", which can be annoying, plus I just dont really like the way it sounds. My closest friends call me Mimi or Miri, which i like. They were nicknames I hated as a kid but now I like them...

I do not like my name much. It is too unusual. I like it better than I use to though.

My first name is MEDA. I was told my Dad made it up when he heard some Mexican kids saying the word for "look" and then spelled it phonically. I have gone through life having people tell me that my name means look in Spanish. I found out later that it is actually an American Indian name meaning Priestess, Prophetess or..... Edible root.

My middle name is MAE. That was my mom's middle name. She almost put my middle name as MARIE. I would have gone by that name if she had.

My name is Rena Lynn. I don't like my name mostly because people have a hard time pronouncing it. Rena is pronounced like the word arena but without the a. Most people pronounce it like Rehna or Renee. My middle name (Lynn) is after my moms name (Linda). It is a really common middle name so I don't really like that.

I would have pronounced it like you say it should be.... most people pronounce my name as MAY-duh, but it is MEE-duh. LOL My pastor used to call me Media.

I don't like my first name at all; my middle name is okay since shortened it is Cat. My mother named me after... her favorite actress' daughter's middle name. Lots of thought went into that.

I love my name. Kara Leigh obviously. haha I don't come across very many people named Kara, and I love the name Leigh.

That's too funny. BTW, I can't tell you how many times I have seen my first name abbreviated to "Christ" due to the character limit reached after my last name.

I love the name Leigh.
I like it too. Germans don't though, I can promise you that!

They will look at your name, back to you, back to your name, and then just point and say "you there". If you're lucky, they may attempt to pronounce it "L-eye-guh".

I do not like mine at all. Heidi Lynn. Like a little girl running around the mountains with goats. I'm not named after anyone - it was just a name my parents liked.

I guess it's not a horrible name. I knew a girl named Mary Christmas. That's a name that makes you kill your parents. I just don't really like it.

Tara Lee ... i used to hate my first name, because I wanted a more common one like Amanda, Megan, or Heather. As I got older, I began to like it more because there weren't many Tara's around. I grew up with just one other Tara in school with me, and by 4th grade she had moved. Now I work with two other Tara's

Lee is a middle name that most females on my mom's side have. It is after my great-grandmother's maiden name.

My name is Laurie Ann. Not named after family members, just a name my parents liked. I don't love it, don't hate it. I like the way it's spelled.

These are actual names I have come across in the past few years

Mabelline Bad Yellowhair
Jill Comes At Night
Lucky Charms

Love my name, I chose it
My name is Cheryl Ann. I don't like the middle name.
My mom named me after her favorite actress' daughter. Old time actress Lana Turner. Her Cheryl Ann murdered her mom's abusive boyfriend.
I don't mind--it's an interesting story

Hope Marie. Hope, because my parents tried to have kids but couldn't so they decided to adopt and I was the child they always "Hoped" for. Marie because it sounded good.

I hated it growing up. I couldn't find anything with my name on it (unless it was a Christmas ornament). Even now, at 41 years old, if I find my name on a touristy keychain or mug it's MINE! But I love it now because it it still unique. I even had a friend name a boat after me "The Esperanza".

I don't mind my name. My dad wanted to name me after a song he liked way back when called "Linda Lou" so they named me Linda Luella (his mom's name, my grandmother was Luella).

My daughter is going to give her baby (due in November) a middle name which is derived from both mine and her MIL. Her MIL's middle name is Ellen and mine is Luella so she is going to give the baby a middle name of Ella.
Linda I think Ella is a lovely name, and it's nice that you daughter wants to imbue that connection there to her grandmothers.

My name is Wendy, which I don't have a problem with other than the fact that a lot of people misunderstand my accent and think I'm called Windy. I just thank my lucky stars that common sense prevailed and my twin sister and I got reasonable names. My parents were seriously considering matching names for the cute factor, such as Pauline and Paula.
I like my name - Bridget Renee. I only knew two other Bridgets in my life. People always want to spell it Bridgette or Bridgett though... I grew up Catholic and my parents named all of us after saints (I'm one of seven).

You want to talk about horrible names - I have a brother who was born in 1776 and my dad wanted to name him Benjamin Franklin if he was a boy and Betsy Ross if he was a girl. Luckily my mom vetoed THAT idea, and his name is Paul.
I am not that fond of my name - I was named Natalie a few years after Natalie Wood died. My initials are NHL.

It could've been worse - if I was born but a few weeks earlier (close to Christmas) I would've been named Holly Noel. Not believed in any particular religion, that would've sucked.

My name is Juliet, and yes, I do love it. It's fairly unusual - I've only met a couple of others - which I really like, and it's easy for people to pronounce, which is also great (my surname is impossible for people to pronounce, so I know what a hassle that is). And honestly, I just think it's pretty. Eek, I sound conceited, I promise I'm really not!

That said, I could really do without all the dumb, "So where's your Romeo?" and similar comments (wow, you're so witty, random stranger, I have never heard that one before ), the quoting of well-known lyrics from the play(except it seems there's a lot of confusion about the "wherefore art thou" part - it's, "Wherefore art thou Romeo?" random strangers, not, "Wherefore art thou Juliet?" If you're going to make a lame, unfunny comment, at least get it right) - and in more recent years, "Oh, like on Lost?" (uh, I guess? ). There are days I swear I'm going to punch the next person who says any of the above (I would never, ever actually do so, it's just tempting sometimes ).
